This is a nice feature. I used the AtoHotKey method which worked very well on my computer, but this morning I was teaching through Zoom and my students did not see the mouse cursor with the yellow halo. Some students complained about a big black box instead of the cursor so they did not see where on the screen I was clicking. I will try this out when teaching in the classroom.
@boisvertlab16994 жыл бұрын
When using Zoom, make sure to share a desktop or a screen instead of a program's specific window. If you share a program's specific window, then by definition Zoom will only cpature what belongs to that specific window, which the cursor highlight isn't.

@hannesjohne46223 жыл бұрын
Increase the pointer size itself in Windows settings is another way to make the mouse pointer more visible (without software/downloading cursors): 1) Open Settings on Windows 10. 2) Click on Ease of Access. 3) Click on Cursor & pointer. 4) Adjust the pointer size slider. This works nicely in corporate settings with restricted access to drive C. A word on Camtasia/SnagIt: However I observed that Techsmith's tools like Camtasia and SnagIt seem to ignore size changes when capturing. It's not so bad in Camtasia as you can specifically change pointer size in the editor itself. SnagIt on the other hand has trouble increasing the size afterwards so you might use Simplify-Feature and the simplified cursor icon anyway.

I'll add to my list of videos to cover. High level summary: I use PowerDirector as my editing software and you can insert key frames and define the zoom level for that key frame (most video software includes this capability). It has to be prioritized along with everything else. I'm sure with so many people working from home now and the need to instruct virtually, this may become a higher priority. Submit the feedback via Feedback Hub on Windows and that'll help with the prioritization. If enough people submit the feedback, that'll help to make sure it gets done.

Well done. Thank You I have two follow up questions.: 1. Once I installed Auto Hotkey program and the Cursor Highlighter it all worked fine. Then I deleted the installation files, and after a reboot it all no longer works. I see the Auto Hotkey program under program files. Where could/should all the files be located, as I don't want them to remain in the downloads folder? UPDATED below. 2. Can it be made to load/run at Windows 11 start up? UPDATED below, the answer is yes it all works the same for Windows 11. Thank you again. UPDATES (from the Professor): Cursor Highlighter Installation Instructions: Download the latest version of “AutoHotkey” and “Cursor Highlighter” from the website, and install AutoHotkey first. Important to leave the files in the “Documents” folder for it to work.: Once you have installed AutoHotkey, you can put the .ahk file for Cursor Highlighter (and its associated .ini file) in any folder that has read/write permission. This is because the .ahk script needs to be able to read and save the settings in the .ini file. Good folders for this include your "Documents" folder or your "Desktop". To get Cursor Highlighter to load automatically at start up: 1. Keep the .ahk and .ini files in the folder that they are in right now so that you know that it works from this folder (or a good folder to put them in is your Documents folder). 2. Create a shortcut to the .ahk file by right-clicking on the .ahk file and selecting "Create shortcut". This should create a file of same name with "shortcut" at the end of the name. 3. Put this shortcut file in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp Works like a charm. And many thanks to the professor for emailing me these instructions.

Thank you, Kevin! Great job. I now have a lovely blue highlight around all my cursors. A couple quick notes: * So critical to make sure you choose cursor downloads that are licensed for your intended use. I found the Read Me files or download screens were great at providing that info. Most business/education help desk Techs will ask before they will open the sacred admin account and add those lovely cursors. ** Renaming the cursor files with an underscore at the beginning is helpful to save having to dig through the long list of windows defaults in Mouse Settings.

@boisvertlab16992 жыл бұрын
In Box Game, it captures the specific window that you are recording, and nothing else. So you could put another window in front of it, and it wouldn't record this other window. The cursor highlight is actually another window, so you won't be able to record it if you choose to capture a specific window. Instead of capturing a specific window (which can only capture what belongs to that window), you need to capture a screen.
