I'm a former mechanic, and electrician. You need to be careful when taking the cambelt off, the timing might be out,- which might be one reason it doesn't run properly. There should be an idle screw on the carburettor- this allows you to set the idle once it is running. It looks like you need to take it apart

I'm a mechanical engineer, the metal dust in the oil tells me he fucked it 😂 Nitro fuel has a mixture which also contains oil, it's similar to fuel mixed for 2 stroke engines, a little oil that lubricates the engine and gets burned. When kev ran it on 100% methanol, it flushed out all the oil and it was basically metal on metal. I honestly sometimes wonder why kev makes stupid decisions when it comes to his videos sometimes. He didn't even run the engine in properly, he never runs his rc car engines in. Just starts them and full throttles. It's sad to watch, but i guess it gets him the views. Same when he sends the cars into oblivion and damages half the parts, but you can can argue that's part of using them, to bash, break, fix, repeat.

the methanol fuel wouldn’t hv caused the engine to seize that quickly. Theses engines are built to last a few months…. i doubt a cycle of 30 mins of non lubricated rpm ruined it. I think it’s due to the change in temperatures as he ran the fuel. The only reason i can think of that his shaft was stiff was cuz he ran the engine way too hot. The radiator had no fan on it and there was no where near enough air going into the supercharger in the first place. I strongly believe his engine seized up due to incomplete combustion and thermal expansion.

Could have been why it sounded a little clunky

Try pouring all the oil out of you're car engine and see how meny seconds before it seize. 2t engines get lube from the oil mixture in the petrol.. methanol is alcohol that cleans the engine really well from all oil residue xD@@KS-vo3hf

I think its already been mentioned but u need to run the vent line to fuel tank to pressurize it so it pushes fuel to the carbs. It was already running lean and then u sprayed it with nitrous which leaned it out even more. Poor thing didnt stand a chance! Would love to see it in the truck once u get it running right. The extra wieght in the front would be beneficial to a burnout rig imho.

He even knew that you need to run it rich with nitrous since you have 2 oxygen molecules instead of the normal 1 with air you have upto twice the fuel burning power with nitrous.

No, These ones run great, I have one , the rotarys are pain... They wont Run well ore even start. In the Manuel stands how to tune them. The screw for the fuel mixture has to Go all the way in, one and a half Turn Back and it will start, than you can adjusg the idlespeed. After that you Rev the engine, if it revs Up slowly only, than it is to rich, turn the mixture screw out Just a tiny bit. If the engine revs Up but the idlespeed stais Up quiet a Long Time than it Runs to lean. Screw the mixture screw in Just a tiny Bit. The V8 Models Run very wenn and arent hard to tune.

Hey Kevin, those glow starters have a “potentiometer” in them. I was gifted a 2 cylinder engine and the glow starters wouldn’t make the glow plugs glow. I adjusted the little screw on the potentiometer to get them to glow on a 2S Lipo. The glow starters are also very finicky and you can burn out the plugs super easily. It’s a bad design.
@viktorcsonka8808 6 ай бұрын
Hello. This type of V8 engine also needs regular oil, because you put the factory oil in it, but it is not enough to keep the engine running. The engine was full of metal particles because you boiled the cylinders. Before starting for the first time, you have to put a little normal oil in it.
@MAGGOT_VOMIT 5 ай бұрын
I was worried about it seizing up when he said he was going with pure methanol. It def doesn't have any oil mixture for lubrication.
@Rey-vm9it 5 ай бұрын
if i remember correctly u also have to break it in and after running for a bit change the oil 1 or 2 times. before going complete bonkers with it.
@reneentarastraathofvanmarw2287 5 ай бұрын
i saw at the back a gear sticking out and the thing that fell of was supposed to turn it. i think it is the oil pump and it was not turning at 6:49. it probably never turned after that and that would also explain the metal bits and the seized engine.
@Rey-vm9it 5 ай бұрын
@@reneentarastraathofvanmarw2287 u mean in the back where the flywheel sits, with that big gear? i dont think its supposed to be turning while the engine is running. theres a starter on it with a small gear and since it cant disengage like on a real car, it probably can only turn in one direction while trying to start it. but not 100% sure.
@viktorcsonka8808 5 ай бұрын
@@reneentarastraathofvanmarw2287 The big wheel at the back is the flywheel that connects to the starter, and what flew off was the clutch housing. The oil pump is always located on the crankshaft at the first cylinder so that its speed matches the engine speed

Just a question. When you put the supercharger on did you check cam timing because they share the same belt
@joshrutledge5142 5 ай бұрын
before you add nitrous to ANY engine i recommend you do some research... NO2 should only be added at wide open throttle, otherwise detonation murders the cylinders, at least in regular automotive applications. you basically threw a bomb in the intake, and not in a good way. this is a cool project, i understand you're having fun, but frustration usually comes from ignorance. cheers!

yea but if it gets too big it gets too heavy too. these engines dont produce enough torque to be used in rc cars that it would make fun. i like them, how they look, sound and how tiny it is and yet it works. but for a real use he would need a gearbox just like johnnyQ90 has build. there was a dude who build a 1/4th Grave Digger from scratch, he used a stinger v8 engine which was compared to this one bigger, but it did function way better.

@dazofthemoo1531 5 ай бұрын
Yes but a mid mounted engine will hold a drift better and be alot easier to control. I've owned many cars in my 50 yrs as a semi-pro and mid mounted is definitely the way to go in a lightweight body.
@lorditsprobingtime6668 5 ай бұрын
@@dazofthemoo1531 It's a tall engine in a model, it'll probably want to wheel stand everywhere. I suppose it wouldn't if he uses hard, smooth type tyres but, then it would just skate around boringly. I had a 1/5th Baja bug with the 26cc engine and yeah, that drifted ok mostly at speed with a mid to rear kind of mounting but this is much shorter wheel based and that tall engine I think will probably be pretty prone to rolling too but, it'll be a bit of a hoot either way, especially if he gets it running a lot better than here. It never even revved very well so was pointless adding nitrous, damage, probably from being too lean and consequently no lube looks like it may have already done some major damage to it. I think the nitrous attempt on a glow engine without running in and proper tuning was a very bad idea.
@dazofthemoo1531 5 ай бұрын
@@lorditsprobingtime6668Yes. Considering the cash Kev seems to have behind him, he's probably better binning that one and starting again. Once he gets this thing going, I think it's going to be either very good or very bad. I'm definitely curious to find out.
@lorditsprobingtime6668 5 ай бұрын
@@dazofthemoo1531 I wouldn't ever bother with one at the prices they ask but, most sensible people who've spent the money to get one will make sure they've got that pressure to the fuel tank and run it very rich and slowly start leaning it out bit by bit after several tanks full. I've seen enough running on YT to know they can really scream and do sound pretty amazing. This was not the way to do it and then shoving nitrous into it when already running lean was a very smooth brain thing to do. I would really love to hear it running properly and in a model of some sort, it should look and sound amazing, IF he doesn't screw it up like here, what a waste!

When the coolant line blew nitro onto you telling you the head gasket was blown already mixing nitro into your water before the water boiled blowing the coolant line onto you, also its a bit above my head but i would think you would need to change the timing if you use non nitro fuel or nos, i would not recommend nos, its an aluminum engine and i know real aluminum engines cant handle nos, i would not expect this little guy to handle it even if it was steel. Awesome video dude, dont underestimate these little engines, they can throw a rod through their little oil pans and blocks like a real engine.
