Remembering News Events of 1983 in Los Angeles is a segment put together by S mac and Kev Mac narrated and edited by Kev Mac to show what was going on in LA at the time and the dramatic impact cocaine had on the city. You'll have to forgive me for the rushed content in time for the holidays. This would mark the beginning of the crack era and the war on drugs in Compton, Ca when drug shipments from Colombia and Bolivia bombarded the ports of Southern California. Also a huge presence of Salvadorans in the southland.

LA was a real live Purge movie in the 80's. Riding the RTD (Rough Tough and Dangerous) down Manchester to Crenshaw I had a front row seat to the wars during the 80's. I will never forget it a day in my life.

I graduated high school in the spring of 83 and by the time I came home from college break that fall, my homies that weren't even smoking weed and drinking beer when I left were stealing from their mama's cribs, and had no longer had fades but unkempt fro's, i.e., shelled. And I'm 3000 miles away on the opposite coast.
