The current Royal family are actually German, their lineage doesn't run that deep into the British line. They come from the Holy Roman Empire lineage which ruled over a majority of Europe. Its a complex history of absolutism in Europe but in short, Elizabeth II and her family are originally German, not like the Elizabeth I who was a British Tudor.
