And in the UK. I mean really underrated because they've had very little of their music hit the UK charts. This performance is amazing and my favourite is probably "Culture Of Fear". I remember years ago I was in a record shop just browsing and "The Mirror Conspiracy" album was playing. It wasn't really the kind of music I was listening to at the time but I remember I was blown away by it, and I just had to buy it.

not sure if you guys know the studio albums, the performance, the recording and the mix are all pretty bad, at some point the male singer frankly out of tune. Sound us muffled, balance is bad. Not sure how you can say the mix is "gods work", its electronic music with just two singers, about the easiest thing to mix v, a live like that (in a small room, with no battery or live instruments) should sound same as the album, assuming the performance and recordings are decent, which is not the case here.
@AlexMPruteanu
@AlexMPruteanu Жыл бұрын
@@lo2740 you got it. Also, they're all playing under the recorded, mixed track on the album. That's why everyone is praising the sound engineering. Because it's the album first and foremost you're hearing, then these guys in the studio waaay under. The vocals are live, however.

The one word I got when reading your listed bands was 'artistry'. That word could be used to descibe each of those groups. You can tell it meant something to them other than money. Relevant then, revelant 10 years ago, and if dropped today... any of those bands hits would top charts and sell out venues as they did 25 yrs ago. Portishead was Lo-Fi before Lo-Fi was Lo-Fi

Holy shit! That first track is perfection! I was looking at the coolest person to have ever existed with each camera switch. The bassist is all in, fully committed to the funk, body and soul. The guy on the scitar-thing is so good I thought it was in my head. Lose the vocals. Give them tambourines. Relistening to that first track again

Hearing them shoutout Fugazi and Dischord and citing them as a major influence for how they conduct their business is so awesome to me. Makes me realize how much impact one group of people can have on other groups, wherein those who are inspired by those originators go on to inspire thousands more. Being independent is a world movement

Listen: I've watched this probably 25 or 30 times. All I can say is, the interviewer is absolutely amazing. He totally "gets" Thievery Corporation. And this recording (quality-wise) is absolutely amazing. I'm totally looking forward to seeing them in Harrisburg, PA on September 26, 2021. I already have my ticket.

Rob Garza, DJ Eric Hilton, DJ Loulou, vocals Sleepy Wonder, vocals Natalia Clavier, vocals Jeffrey Haynes a.k.a. ¨Mr. Lif¨, vocals Frank Orrall, percussion Jeff Franca, drums Ashish Vyas, bass Rob Myers, guitar, sitar Michael Cardone, trumpet Jessie McGinty, saxophone Michael Cardone it´s my best guess, but, well! I can edit... impressive extreme high quality show, video and audio, Thank you KEXP! Long live Thievery Corp!!

Thievery Corporation is one of the best bands of all time. They should have the recognition they deserve after so much time. Maintaining musical quality over the years and continuing to improve and search for new sounds is something incredible these days. They represent the music of the world. I think they share the podium with Massive Attack, Tricky, Morcheeba, Portishead, and other band from the 90s that are amazing.
