It’s so weird to see a lot of people complaining that it sounds like the strokes, he is a indie rock guy so what would you expect? This is how he is, what he likes to do. Let him do his thing or just don’t listen to it

listening to his solo music shows me actually just how much influence he has on the strokes' sound.
@carlsullivan74335 жыл бұрын
He really doesn't have that much of an influence on the Strokes. His style is sometimes very strokesy, sometimes more originally his, but Julian wrote every part of every song on the Strokes' first two albums that Albert's songs often draw from, So it's more like he does his own riff on Julian's early Strokes style. It would be really cool to hear him take more risks vocally, I feel like he's always been too conservative that way, keeping it poppy instead of getting punky with the reggae vibes. It would be cool to hear an angrier Albert sometimes lol
@spoonnoise83325 жыл бұрын
DEVON MARYNUIK not only the first two, also FIOE and the second person who contributes more is Nick as seen in his solo stuff and the last two albums songs credits. This isn’t to discredit Albert at all, he has shown in his own albums that he can do even as good The Strokes albums, that’s how good he is, but to say that just because his music sounds like The Strokes doesn’t mean he is the main songwriter in the band and I mean the said could be said about Fabrizio Moretti aka Fab solo stuff and Nikolai’s other band Summer Moon because their side projects are very similar to the last two Strokes albums

@@carlsullivan7433 i disagree. AHJs has the best solo projects which tells me something different. Too many has the impression that Julian is 90% of the Strokes. That to me is ridicolous.
@carlsullivan74334 жыл бұрын
@@engelsktecnico I personally like Julian's solo stuff better, but I also really like Albert's. But whatever you like better, it's not really in dispute that Julian composed the first 3 albums entirely, and the rest of them just played it. The fact that he was so dominant, (many would say domineering) in the creative process was the main source of tension in the band, which lead to the hiatus and then the new collaborative approach to the post hiatus albums. The fact that Julian's solo work is mostly so different from The Strokes was originally intentional in that he was exploring ideas that he thought were not compatible with the aesthetic or "philosophy" of The Strokes, or that the other band members would have found incompatible. His original "vision" for The Strokes was to be very terse and compact (ie: half hour albums, no songs over 4 mins, not long solos, etc.)

Let me rewrite what I said earlier (from a point of a Johnny Marr’s fan). Albert was not the frontman of the previous band, but it seems he will keep creating music in a cool way like Johnny Marr, who was not a singer but a guitarist of Smith. I don’t care whether he now sounds like The Strokes or not. As far as he likes his own music, it should sound well. And indeed it sounds well as we hear. I respect how hard he has been trying so far. I can imagine he had received tons of irrational hatred and criticism before, but this time he brought a cool album Francis Trouble to us. He is tough & talented, so I hope he will win some more esteem, surviving in this competitive music industry …like my fave Marr. …That’s what I meant.
