Keyflower is still my most played and favorite game, I agree with most of your points except for the game being too much at high player counts (although that is subjective so ymmv), my group has never really had any issues with that, there is a lot going on, but it tends to be consistent and its at a pace where you can take your time reviewing other peoples stuff. I think it definitely gets bogged down less at high player counts than a lot of other euros, and it handles 6 as well as any of them I have come across. I also disagree about the rulebook, I think its a very clear reference, the layout works for me, and I personally appreciate the examples. Its not a pickup and play cold game, but its pretty easy to teach in my experience, just focus on explain how the bidding works and build out from there, that's really the only mechanical interface in the game. If people want to play Keyflower with the expansions (both are very good), the Merchants works best with small player counts, and the Farmers works best at high player counts. Excellent review!

I'm glad you liked it. It's definitely beneficial to get a number of games under your belt as it allows you to hone in on a strategy and you would tend to remember the tiles important to you which often makes the sprawling not so bad. Not that your strategy always works out though lol. It can be a devastating Euro of a game. Thanks for your valuable overview and opinion.

This has been gathering dust on my shelf of shame for a while now. Gonna have to bust it out now after your review, but with a lower player count I think. Cheers

Thanks for posting. ‘Ere do you know that in the future you will have ghostly horns growing out the sides of your bonce? As for Keyflower, no thanks you will be unsurprised to hear. I actually like Reef Encounter by this designer, but cannot see me playing this as long as I have a rusty razor blade available to me.

I like Keyflower, but the one thing that hacks me off is the flimsy player screens

Rule book says the chimneys are supposed to keep them together…I’m so thick I never worked out how

The Chimneys are part of the problem, flimsy bits of card and easy to lose. 😀
