hey mike, nice catches! ... what happened ot the van stall vr50 you usually use? btw: when they say the battlestar is a "glow" - does it mean u can hit it with light and it glows in the dark? see you out there on the beaches!

Thanks for tuning in I do use my vr50 for slightly different things. With winter perch I tend to scale things down shimano Vanford 15 lb main line for example. Early in the season of Striper season you will see more in action with the next couple of videos. I’m terms of a the battlestar question the signature MTB lure is not glow in the dark that would be the glow white stardine. Tune in a little later as I am banking stripedbass content here.

@@mikestacklebox that vr50 is a beast. i see you dropping and letting it sit in the sand and water all the time. Mine got lost in the surf at san G and stayed lost under water for 3 days till park rangers found it washed back up ashore again. They called me and when i went to pick it up, - just a bent bail and sand/rock scratches. but once bail bent back, was smoothhhh as buttah! wild. yeah i was looking at the glow chovy, debating buying one but wasnt sure if it glowed in the dark. got the regular sardine battlestar, love that thing.

@@al0324 okay bro it might be something to add to the arsenal. Definitely obtain other in terms of windy days for example. I am all battlestar but it definitely helps to have an assortment of different profiles and colors.

Hi again, So with the sinker, and your rod action, you want it skipping along the bottom as you reel in? The sinker is right up against the lure? No swivel and bead to keep the sinker back from the lure?

Yes and also try twitch it then pause it if the sweep allows it. Other wise keep twitching it always staying in contact with you rig.

Hi Mike, Outstanding teaching moment, as always. I'm confused how to translate wave energy data into what you want me do to on the beach.

Great question: Small ocean waves with a long period can create the same size surf as larger waves with a short period but they can have the same wave energy, making it a potentially better guide to likely surf size. One of the best way I can explain it. Anything under 300 (lake water) will be pretty difficult to get any type of water movement/ breaking waves on a standard beach. With a gradual pronounced beach with High wave energy for example 3000 will definitely knock you over. Another example a beach with a steep incline will become dangerous to navigate as well. I prefer days that are around the 800 energy level. With surf forecast.com only give a fraction of your decision. Wave finder will definitely aid if the winds are super high such as 25mph is almost un fish able. Something around 13mph and under would be ideal. Hopefully this helps.

It was filled much smaller guys biting my tails off. To my right was completely flat and the left filled with salad. The wave energy came and went.

catchin any stripers yet?? so far i only caught a little 8 incher, so many perch. im in half moon bay, got any tips? also lust ordered the battle star and some motor oil swimbaits

Last week the wave energy has been down I would prefer if it was 600-800 in the area. Stripers currently have not shown up in numbers I believe due to colder temperatures. With the up coming warmth we should see them here soon maybe by the end of the month.

Surf Perch will bite a cigarette butt on a hook, on a spincaster, if they are there. There is no trick to catching them.

Hi! I totally agree with you but have absolutely no supporting test data. For a good bite, one just needs to cross surf/waves/beaches with a school or solo surf perch viewing all kinds of debris and foods flowing around in the breaking surf's turmoil. Pass up a bit/bite of food?? No way!
