When I was 10 years old I used a wheelbarrow to pick corn I would pick 200 ears shuck and silk and mother would start canning while I picked another 200 now at 72 years old I have to do canning by myself. Another good show keep them coming

Enjoyed the video. It took me back to living in Hurley Mississippi as a teenager. We planted 2 acres every year. Everything from corn, peas, tomatoes, watermelons, cantaloupes, etc. No store bought vegetables can ever compare to that good homegrown stuff. I've got the VacMaster VP 210. Love it, and use it very often.

I think the fresher the better. Years ago my wife would put a pot of water on and I would pick the ears, shuck, silk & cut in the garden and drop in the boiling water about a minute after picking. Now that's some good eating. When I was a kid, canning corn was a family affair. Granddad was a farmer and grew field corn for the cows and we picked as much as the ladies told us to pick. There were 10 to 15 people there. No one had a freezer so we put it up in cans and jars, and ate on it all year. That was before expiration dates and I never remember any of it going bad. Thanks so much for these videos. They are entertaining and brings back some great memories.

Back in 91-94 we had a corn roasting business. Made Bank every weekend. Black Diamond corn from Colorado was the biggest and sweetest. Mexico corn was smaller but still good. We like bi-color the best. The Hispanic people around El Paso don’t like yellow corn. They call it “Cow Corn”😂😂

Sure, didn't waste any fertilizer on stalk. The outlaws would have a Maque Choux party every two or three years make enough to last all that time, we all had big freezers. That looked pretty close to the way we did it, big burners, big pots, but the help didn't run off after shucking like yours seemed to do. Early morning to pick the corn we spent the rest of the day in the endeavor. Thanks for bringing the memories back.
