A Gen X perspective, it’s awesome to see the competitive spirit alive and at work. It was easy too see the Millennials experience play out with efficiency and confidence. Just as it was necessary for Gen Z to portray confidence even though experience isn’t in their corner. But let’s be real, each of our generations would never back down at their age. How could you? Doing so would be a show of weakness and doubt. The fight would be lost before it even started.i also enjoyed seeing the respect being shared by both. Shit taking is certainly part of it. Albeit a very small, insignificant part. But both generations showed up where it counted. It felt healthy to witness. I’m glad it was a positive experience. No doubt both will grow from it. Truth is, the previous generation will always influence the next. It’s just the way it is. And that could be in any direction. To include those influences and to stray away from. Technology has dramatically impacted the last three generations of music. Creating entire genres that couldn’t have existed prior. But the heart of great artistic expression will always be the heart. What moves us most emotionally always makes for great art. Thanks for producing this content. It was very enjoyable.

I’m Gen Z and the Millennials definitely won. They had the energy and amazing tone from the vocalist, such a strong bounce from the drums and just the right amount of instruments. Lastly he just bulldozed the creative process and even ate into the time that was supposed to be for song writing just so he could quantize after he had said that gen z prefers a more rugged and less filtered approach

This is innovation of thinking and bringing something meaningful to think about, about how we see and feel music that we listen to. This is art. Showcasing not just the how, but the why the vision, the passion, the soul. It's a symphony of creativity, pushing boundaries and redefining music's future. Bravo to the visionary behind this! Millennials do classic 90s-2005ish rap. Pretty classic beat and rapper. Gen Z goes straight for highly autotuned talk rap/pop with like a lil peep vibe.. Both sounded great.. For actual hype the GEN Z passed with flying colors, For good flow and progressive like a good drive at night then yeah Millinnials
I actually agree with this so much. I'm Gen Z and I do think millennials won this but I feel like the use of loops made the win be a bit cheaper, along with the mandatory beat switch that's in most songs that sound similar. Overall I do think millennials KNOW what sound good already so they are efficient with their beats and lyrics but it takes away from how much creativity and how unique the track is, whilst Gen Z have the opposite issue. They try experimenting more and do things differently even if its essentially bedroom pop mixed with emo, but lack efficiency and polish cause "new is better". Both songs sound good, but neither get playlist spots for me. I'd love to see this concept done again but having one Millennial and one gen z on each team, just switching prod and artist

but the other song is also nothing new and is the most basic thing in the world, I'm sure that that type of music is the most common and repetitive that's why it sounds like all the other rap songs, atleast the producer played a real instrument and its not rapped

Before I even clicked on the vid I knew Millenniums would str8 knock it out the box. Gen Z were wayyyyy to cocky and lowkey disrespectful.
@LUFFYLOVESLOFI2 ай бұрын
But they didn't, they made the most generic song possible with loops lol, the beat sounds like a worse version of Not Like Us & the rapping was beyond mid. Gen-Z actually went in to make a song from scratch, wrote their own harmony & melody, the song had a lot more artistry & soul to it even though it's not really a genre I enjoy. Gen-Z owned this, I was actually disappointed seeing the older dudes coming in making FL studio type beats & the younger kids actually producing music, I thought it was going to be the other way around. All the talk about "efficiency" & trying to justify using loops made it even worse.

I think what can be learned from this from a creative standpoint is: 1) If you have a job to do that requires collaboration, it's not about you the individual looking good, it's about the whole looking good. Matt and Chu understood that, that's why Chu used loops to make sure Matt had ample time to do what he needed to do. Bended was too wrapped up in him looking good and his vision that he only gave Tore 15 minutes to work. That's disrespectful of other people's time and sacrifices the quality of the group. 2) Moving something forward doesn't necessarily mean you're moving it in a good direction. You can refine and update something that's existing because sometimes something doesn't exist for a reason. That doesn't mean don't experiment, but you have to have discernment and an editing eye which takes humility and deference for the established conventions forming the foundation of your craft.

27 here - directly between the two generations mentioned, obviously leaning more towards millennial but I consume a ton of music from both. Something I wanted to point out that Gen Z did wrong throughout the entire process was something small to miss but MAJOR to music chemistry and creation - awareness of one's job in a production. As soon as the older team started, they dapped which immediately set a solid vibe, then both took their positions and let the other one work. Chu is a beat maker who understands this is going to have a vocal, so Matt let him cook while he focused on his job - making vocals. On team millennial, Tore had to focus on helping Bended get his ideas on paper (Bended already not collaborating, just trying to steer the ship) and then also try to figure out how to make his base idea into a usable song. Wanting to be progressive and push music/art forward is always a noble idea. But it's also not always that deep. Most people (including those in the studio) just want to vibe.

As a (barely) member of Gen Z and a producer myself, the Gen Z guys made a pretty damn good song, but their attitude was just way off, man. They definitely didn't communicate in a super cohesive manner and I’m kinda disappointed in that. It's super hard to identify with my generation, especially when a loud crowd of them have barely had any life experience.

I'm Gen Z and this just ain't it for them to be going for something "Unique". Sounds too generic to everything else out right now and maybe worse? Matt and Chu made some Jack Harlow vibes which still isn't great tbh. There was some Kendrick Lamar feels to it too and honestly overall was still the better song even though I'd probably listen to neither one of them in my free time.

I think y’all should do it again and switch partners. I think Chu and Tore would eat. Matt was talkin bout too much fast food, but really his flow and content was the most fast food facet of the whole thing. I’m 32 and I’m way more tired of his sound than Tore’s singy rappy style, plus it helps he’s really tuned in with it and puttin soul behind it. And I think Bended would actually help Matt progress his style, but they might have a pretty hard time working together. That could be really interesting to watch or a great lesson for everyone.
