We were staying near Vig Refreshments till 1964 and it's Iconic food for more than 70 years...Though we shifted to Ghatkopar later but we still go eat once in a while or take parcel... It's the best place for Aloo Tikkis, Chhole Puri Bhature etc. 😮😮❤❤❤

Dal Pakwan @ Rs.1/- was sometimes my breakfast to school! Even now when I visit Mumbai, we definitely have Dal Pakwan once atleast, with my dear brother driving all the way from Powai early morning! I also like Pravin mentioning all other eateries in the interiors of camp. Two I distinctly remember are.. Ladha for his Pattice Chole.. and Dal Moong Paav from Nityanand, had with bhajiya and alu tikki from the little shop next to Jhama! Another of our staple was Bhat for Usal n Kanda bhajiya. There is no place like Chembur and I also agree no one makes Dal Pakwan like Vig!

Surprisingly - Daal Pakwan is not available in Karachi, as this dish is not a OG sindhi dish. This is a dish of Sindhi's of India. I am sindhi from Sindh Pakistan and never heard of Daal Pakwan until I came to US. All my Indian friends talk about daal pakwan and it was a pleasant surprise that a dish which is not available in Sindh is an identity of Sindhi's in India

it is actually poor man's food search and watch ullasnagar food vlogs. its extention of Mumbai where all the sindhis took refuge after fleeing Sindh province which is now in pakistan. they had nowhere to go for a long time they lived in camps on outskirts of Mumbai. original daal pakwaan is very simple dish plain daal with little tadka of jeera like old man said. it's simple and affordable dish for the masses. what we eat today spicy version is nowhere close to original. dal pakwaan was the need of the hour for all the refugees.

Original Dal pakwan can be had at Doli Nasta House Ulhasnagar. Vig Refreshements has modified Dal Pakwan which is little different from original.

Hello Kunal Such a wonderful episode , nostalgic with sweet memories. I grew up in this neighborhood in RCF and had the privilege of enjoying the wonderful Sindhi breakfast at VIG for many years. Pravin and uncle are wonderful people . Very respectful and serve people with respect and gratitude! During the student days in 90s , would ask and uncle would give extra tasty daal without any extra charge 😅. Also ‘ Serra ‘ was amazing to end the breakfast. Live in Germany since 10 years , but the next India trip have to visit VIG ❤
