We have had Khakis for years and wouldn't change for the world. These ladies are so chill, they don't cause any problems, and if you handle them A LOT as ducklings, and continue to just be with them once they are turned out, they follow you around like puppies. They are a heavy breed so they don't fly and our only problem has been that opossums love them. We finally found that pouring ammonia on the fence (opossums think there is a large animal on the other side of the fence) the opossums have become a non-issue. They are great ducks. Hopefully it all got better but I enjoyed the laugh. They are easy to round up because they stay together. Use a rattle can and get them used to a treat after a rattle. Prolific egg layers. You are going to have some good eggs.

I have 7 Khaki Campbells , (3 month old) I started taking some green peas out in the morning and evening for a treat. They have become a little calmer and not quite as skittish. I’m looking forward to see how they do as egg layers; which should start in February.

Where’s a border collie when you need one 😂😂. I got 10 Cayuga ducklings. They’re my webbed feet sheep. My border collies work sheep and goats. I figured I’d add ducks to the mix. The khakis made for a good laugh. To think, I toyed on them but I’m not as interested in anything with runner involved. They will lay many more eggs than mine and that makes sense if that’s the ducks main purpose. I will have to see if you posted any other videos of these khakis. They’re cute though.

Let them get hungry and thirsty than feed them by hand. After a couple of days of this they will associate you as the provider and they become extremely friendly.

My sister owns 3 khaki Campbell ducks (I’m pretty sure they are adult right now they are most definitely not babies) there use to be 4 but one died something killed it

YIKES!! I have been reading about duck breeds. My wife has a phobia about birds. I have managed to get her interested in chickens however when I mentioned expanding into ducks, she has not warmed up to the idea. I have read khaki campbells are skittish and Indian runners are supposed to be worse. I am leaning towards magpie ducks. Supposed to be a good dual purpose breed. I wonder if they would calm down some if the kids spent time in the pen with them? I don’t know how you will keep them in the net until they get too big to fit through the holes. Looking forward to khaki campbells part two.

Gold Shaw Farm calls those Runner ducks and from what I’ve seen of the ones he has, they don’t calm down. Very skittish like ducks.

Do you ever worry about your ducks wandering too far? I see you’re on some acreage. I am on 1 acre in a rural setting with neighbors around me maybe a hundred yards on either side and half of my acre is a pond. There are dogs and cats that are always roaming around. Do you think I should fence in my property with Tposts and plastic poultry netting? If so how tall do you think the fence should be? Any input would be 2:26 appreciated.

I. Our experience they have stayed close to where they are fed. They will wander a little while they are foraging
