For those who are struggling with the concept: Keep in mind that the coeffecient of x is not 1 so in a scenario such as this, we can interpret it as follows: (my digit 2 is intended to be a superscript where necessary) (ax+b)2= (ax+b)(ax+b) This comes down to: a2x2+2abx+b2 in the equation 9x2-42x+49 , we can use the above formula to help us: a2=9 , a= plus or minus 3 b2=49 b= plus or minus 7 2ab=-42 ab=-21 for us to come up with a negative, we must multiply one positive and one negative: In this case I choose, 3 and -7 so (ax+b)2= (3x-7)2 Let's Keep learning
