This happened to my father MDS transformed into AML within 7 months and he passed very quickly. I have found through genetic testing that I carry a rare variant in SMARCA2 which I have passed onto my children

very good explanation, I only have one gripe. While I understand this video audience are not patients, it is still on You tube and patients, new patients such as myself don't want to hear that AML is not that much of a problem because the patients with MDS die off long before they get the chance. I was so deeply into the professionalism and then that smacked me in the face. I was just diagnosed 9 hours ago and that was not really what I needed to hear. Maybe a little more editing is in order? or redo the way it is worded. its good info, even good news that the switch to AML is so low, but it could be put a different way? This is KZbin after all.

she says " most MDS patients will die before their abnormal blast cells reach Acute leukemia" .....so whats the cause of death of most MDS patients?
@user-xh7ki8it1n7 жыл бұрын
TURK NUKEM most likely infection or bleeding
@superbots227 жыл бұрын
Cytopenia, low Red cell causes anemia, Low WBC can cause opportunistic infections and low platelet causes bleeding disorders. Not to mention Dysplasia which is an abnormality of the cells, leading the impaired function.
@tahjnabanton10566 жыл бұрын
Pancytopenic manifestations: 1.low platelets- easy bleeding/hemorrhaging and coagulation problems, 2.less mature, functioning white blood cells- opportunistic infections or superinfections and 3.low mature, well developed red blood cells- anemia, which has its own correlated symptoms and signs.
@lisacaldwell45174 жыл бұрын
I have a very low white blood cell count. I am likely to die of an infection.

If you donate blood and have an uncle who died from this, would it show up in the tests for donation?
@LMAOINTX7 жыл бұрын
No. The only way to know you have it for sure is through a bone marrow biopsy. Red flags are in a CBC when your numbers are lower than normal. All you can do is ask your dr to watch for decreases in your numbers. Even if they still fall within normal range.

@sabrinasuarez2205 жыл бұрын
J k but it really just depends if they found it on time too I saw another comment that someone has been 11 years without it but for my dad he didn’t survive and he gave up and ended having leukemia
