Good video. Did you happen to have the Mark V saturation mod (replacing some of the preamp tubes with at7s) in this video? Also what mics were using (57 + a 121 or something like that)? Your V sounded better than mine before you threw in the pedals. Got rid of it after 4 years because I could get the Mark IV in the Axe Fx to sound more natural, ballsy, aggressive, saturated compare to my V which I would describe as a bit too cold and sterile, even with a reactive load box into the Axe with IRs. I just could not get the kind of boxy, hollow midrange dialed out of it. Never tried messing with tubes or pedals, but I miss it and am thinking of giving it another try.

Did you pick an overdrive for the mark V & stick with it? I've had a V 90w since January & it is my happy place. EHX crayon is the only overdrive I've had the past few years. Would love to get ahold of a few new ones to find the perfect match. (Got here from your ghoul screamer video) too bad i cant rent them for an hour or two.

Sub! Your channel is great! What do you think, if I want to replace my Maxon OD808 (that I really love but if I can find better and play with gears from one of my fav guitarist… hey!). The Ghoul Screamer would be the best option? You can find some vids with my actual sound on my channel (don't want to promote but if you have some time and see if it can make a nice difference that would be cool!). Thanks dude, keep it up!

Thank you! I have an 808 too, the core of the pedal is similar. The Ghoul is super fun with all the different switches, if you're looking to experiment or if you need different EQ's for different things, the Ghoul is for you! Otherwise, the 808 is a general overdrive that's plug in and play, but still a great sounding pedal.

+Argonaxe 189 Hi! ESP's are built in Japan, higher end LTD's are made in Korea. Same woods but different quality overall. You'll also have the LTD tuners rather the Sperzels that are on the ESP models. Hope this helps!

+transamsforlife Although the Ghoul Screamer would be a great pedal for anyone, I feel it will give you more of an urge to riff out on some Metallica tunes (not a bad thing of course haha). But the No. 1 Overdrive is very well rounded, I really dig it. You can get plenty out of it, it's probably my favourite out of the 3.

I don't want to sound like a dick (I know, it's like starting statement with"not be racist", then says something racist. However, with dirt pedals, I really think they should be demoed in a clean(ish) amp, then stacked with the boost. a crunch channel is good too, just not the highest gain channel, from a very high gain amp. Though I'd like to hear them in ch3 as a boost. Your playing is really good though, and I love the Mark V. I've built 6 amps over the last few years, all of them are either vintage clones or modified ones, never got into high gain amp, really at all, i just don't play music that calls for it too often, and when i need actual distortion(as opposed to OD crunch), I used a Hermida Distortion(I've played MANY distortion, and this was the most open, non coloring, high gain pedals, not really amp like, mostly because the amount of gain with a minimal perceived increase of compression). But I played through my friend 25W, and was blown away by how many voicings you can have, and though I'm a Fender guy through and through, I had to admit I think it's 2 clean voices, clean/Fat sounds better than most Fenders, and I know it's sacrilegious, but I prefer the Boogie's spring reverb), so I picked up the 35W. I use the Mark IIc 80% of the time on that channel, and maybe 20% on the Mark IV, never the extreme. I would have used the Crunch setting for this. Good playing though, and I appreciate the fact that you're just demoing it, not selling, so can do what you want.

The feedback is always appreciated. I guess I'm demoing it the way I and other metal players would use it, as a boost. If I get my hands on them again at any stage I'll go through a clean channel, I do understand they should be demoed in that way. Thank you for the kind words and constructive feedback!
