I'm from Turkey and I'd like everyone to know many overpriced low-quality American clothing brands have factories here and they pay their workers about 15-20 Turkish Liras per hour which exchanges to 0,84-1,12 American Dollars per hour. Just so you understand the situation better, the cheapest bottle of water here costs 2 liras and the cheapest can of baby food (per meal, not a big box of formula) costs 9 liras. Do what you want with this knowledge.

Then they sell the clothes over here for the same amount it'd take a minimum wage worker 3-4 days to earn, assuming they could after not being able to afford food and housing. Low paid workers here in US buy from used clothing stores or the cheap fast fashion brands made in sweatshops overseas. America, taking advantage of people at home then doing it to people everywhere. We have a predatory society. It sucks. 😞

Also, just for everyone knowing, in Moldova workers are paid same or less than in Turkey and guess what? A lot of Luxury Brands use this strategy. That's why everyone should thing twice before buying a loot of clothes especially the fast fashion segment.

When I was little me and my dad went to Turkey in one of the biggest leather factories. He offered me to buy me a Gucci belt, but I refused and said to him “dad, this is all garbage and scam”. He replied “ actually the Gucci stores are the scam, because this is where it is originally made, due to the low prices the company pay for producing and then selling them for tremendous amount of money”. Since then I never bought anything branded, unless it is not made in this fraudulent scheme.

Honestly cant call yourself an inclusive brand if the only people who can even own your products are people who are able to drop over 300-400 dollars for a few clothing items that arent even good looking. True inclusivity would be the range of sizes, and actually being affordable for the average person who cant spend that much money on a few outfits. 😭

I'm from the country right next to Turkey and let me tell you - In the Balkan region, Turkey is the equivalent of China to us. Clothing is extremely cheap even without the haggling. People go on 2 day trips just to buy stuff there. So if anyone ever sees something sold by a celebrity that says Made in Turkey - it was made in a sweatshop and the workers are probably paid less than 1 dollar an hour... for something that will be sold for 400. Turkey is Europe's version of China/Malaysia/Philippines etc

Well, when it comes to price big companies do cheap labor in foreign countries then raise the price to make money for themselves; while small businesses will charge roughly similar prices for their desired wage and hard work. While the other differences the consumer actually cares about are relevance, dependability and accessibility. Someone will want items from names they know and assume are dependable and they will want something that is quick to find and quick to receive. Why would you go out searching for a small businesses to pay 55$ to for hand painted jeans when you can pay 55$ for the same jeans (but prolly printed) from a brand that you already know of and is assume is dependable because it’s trendy?

If I’m gonna purchase clothing that was made in China… Just take a moment to marinate on how large the SheIn haul would be, spending JUST THE 270 FOR THE BLAZER (then think about how enormous if you spent the total she paid for everything…). Smdh over here. Brand names are ridiculous. And yes I know the issues with SheIn quality and where/how the stuff is produced, don’t come for me, it’s just an overwhelming comparison OK? ✌️

There's no rhyme or reason to it, it's not like there's a shared hobby connecting all their pursuits - it's literally just anything that could make money. I would respect the hustle, if not for the massive amount of financial privilege they started out with.

To give more info, khloe and her team had actually been in communications with the brand good American copied, and asked for custom samples of her items and stopped communicating with her after she sent the items. Then a couple months later they come out with their own version of the exact same items. Khloe’s team and the OG brand came to a settlement, so I think it’s safe to say copying was involved here

Fun fact, you can not avoid the "gap" for everyone. I just informed my self about sewing your own jeans. And the gap thing is pretty good explained there. Clothes in the store are made to fit as much people as possible - you can have the exact same measurements, but a complete different body type ( for example a bigger booty but smaller hips can have the same measurement as bigger hips and flater booty). Thats what creats stuff like the gap in the back ( at least from what i learned)

Which is why, if you're lucky enough to afford it or skilled enough to do it yourself, you should always tailor store-bought clothes. They are not designed to look good on you. They are designed to fit as many people as possible in a world where everyone has a WILDLY different body type from everyone else. I always run into problems with jeans because my waist is normally two sizes smaller than my hips (basically ALL my weight sits in my hips. If I wasn't overweight like I am right now, I'd be very pear shaped) but then I'm also short. Basically ALL pants designed for hips like mine are also designed for people much taller than me, or with a larger waist. That's what made me finally break and start wearing yoga pants all the time - they just fit better, and they're easier to hem when they're too long.

That’s so shady she’s outsourcing now. She didn’t even ask people if they were willing to pay more for a product made in the USA. She just saw her profit margin being eaten into and said it was for the customer and that’s shit. I opened my business in 2017 and after researching a LOT of products I decided to source everything here and I proudly tell everyone I carry only products made in the USA. When prices go up, I share it with the customer. If I pay $5 more then I raise my prices $3 and the $2 comes from my profit margin, which is completely unseen, and my customers are all fine paying it. She should have given that option and taken a tiny hit in her profits. That she doesn’t even need.

being someone who has their own baby small business clothing brand and charges the bare minimum of what i have to charge to make a sliver of a profit (my profit is $4-5 per t shirt, for example), it boggles my mind when celebs use manufactures that make products for like $2 and then charge $150 for it so their profit margin can be huge. like yes, you want to make a profit, but if you're selling a decent amount and you're already rich anyway, you really don't need the profit margin to be *that* huge. prices in the fashion industry just went up this year too, so i'm actually dreading telling the people who follow my clothing brand's instagram that i'll have to increase the prices just a bit. i can't imagine not giving people a heads up about something like that?? even if the news isn't something you enjoy sharing, it's still important to do and to be transparent
