4:46 to anyone watching this, as someone from Britain/UK, I can clarify this something we DO NOT do to a Sunday Roast; Yorkshire Pudding are served with gravy and mash potatoes, most definitely not honey
@stevetheduck14253 жыл бұрын
Kongo was a battleship built in Britain, then steamed to Japan by a Japanese (IIRC) crew after being paid for. The Japanese learned a lot from her, and many battleships made later can be considered her descendants. The Yorkshire pudding is one of those regional cooked-batter items that can be done well and / or terribly. They go well with a Sunday roast beef (usually) meal, but are usually served with a beef or onion gravy. Roast potatoes, mixed vegetables and something like a mint sauce (depending upon the meat chosen) are other ingredients. Alice describing 'Yorkshires' as light and fluffy is right to a certain value of 'done well', but they are more usually browned, crisp and chewy. The 'served with honey' mentioned is more likely something like a crepe or possibly a pancake in the Dutch style, which is also a cooked-batter item.
@KaiserRika3 жыл бұрын
In Britain, we make pancakes and Yorkshire Pudding with the same batter.
@smellygoat2 жыл бұрын
Historically they actually could have been eaten with honey as they originated as a filler for meals both savoury and sweet (kinda like bread), most commonly filled with jam or fruits on the sweet side. You tend to find that when something is first introduced to another country they might keep the historical aspect when things can change in the place of origin or vice versa.

@GippyHappy2 жыл бұрын
@@YumeBat English and Spanish are easier to learn if you already know one because they are both latin based languages with many homophones in common. The same is true for Italian and French. But English to Japanese is far more difficult because at their very core they are completely different in structure and vocabulary. It's said it could take as little as a year for an English speaker to learn Spanish fluently (if they worked at it constantly) but it can take as much as 3 years to be fluent in Japanese. However the big difference is in Japan English class is mandatory in most schools, while in America they let you pick a language as an elective and Japanese is not even one of the options. So Japanese people have a better chance of knowing some English, but most English speakers probably don't know any Japanese at all except what they might pick up from watching way too much anime.

I find it kind of weird that no anime studios think of just hiring a native English speaker for a bit. I think Miss Koboyashi's Dragon Maid S used a native English speaker for the hot dog stand guy in the New York episode, so it's clearly not impossible. He sounded like he actually had a real New York accent. After a bit of scrolling through r/DragonMaid, it looks like native English speakers are pretty uncommon in Japan and getting ones who are willing to be voice actors is rare, so they have quite a high price tag. From a single Google search, it looks like it's estimated that 2-8% of Japanese citizens can fluently speak English. I guess it's just not worth the effort to find a native.
