The person who approved those lights at that cost years ago must have had a brother in law or cousin in the contractor or supplier. Good job by the mayor. They can go to Home Depot and buy some sodium vapor lighting that has a long service life with replaceable bulbs instead of LED lamps that are one time use and trash after they stop working.

I have seen many bridges from New York to Boston, San Francisco to London, From Asia to Europe to USA, those bridges around the world having lights shine year round and thru decades their light still shine...Why in Houston those lights burnt out so quickly?? So the lights were installed when the bridges were built and they looked great. Vandalism and no maintenance made them get shut off a few months later. Then all of the sudden, a few months before the Superbowl in Houston, they were redone. Why can't we approve a small budget every year to keep them maintained and not these big spends every 6 or 7 years because they are not touched in-between????
