There is a 1.5 hour video by Captain Fordo explaining this with interviews, behind the scenes details, and people working for Lucasfilm that confirmed it (kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqm3eHyPbNNoirc ). Based on this, it was canon, and was sanctioned by Lucas himself to be part of the “C-tier” canon, along with 95%+ of the other books that now fall into the “Legends” category. This tier sits right behind the official “G-tier” canon of George himself. He didn’t write it, but it being released and licensed by Lucasfilm means it had his stamp of approval.

one reason Darth Bane was PO'd at his apprentice, Zanna, is she kept putting him off. his health was starting to fail and he wanted her to challenge him while he was still strong. the thinking is by waiting until Darth Bane was weak and then challenging him, she would not really prove her worth of being the Master. the same would have been said of Palpatine getting Plaguies drunk and then killing him would be a hallow victory over his master and not testing his dark side abilities.

Darth Zannah did face Darth Bane in a formal challenge combat the Bane wanted to happen. According to Darth Plagueis that concept only lasted about 5 centuries though. They broke tradition or you could say evolved and started using cunning, stealth and deception to take the mantle.

I don’t agree drunk or not if one is truly powerful in the force specifically the dark side they would anticipate the deception. Plagueis let his guard down. By the rule of two if you can’t detect and deflect threats to you, you are no longer strong enough in the force to be the true master and it’s time to go. The real downfall of both bane and plagueis was their attempt to circumvent the rule of two and trying to extend their life through another body of need be. They tried it and failed

This action seemed to put pressure on the force, and Anakin was like a fault line slipping and relieving pressure in an earthquake (Anakin had the most midichlorians of any known living being). I believe it was the events that led to Bane and the Rule of Two that lulled the Jedi into believing the Sith were no more. Also, Plagueis was well-verses in hiding his force presence, much like his apprentice Palpatine would later emulate to pose as the chancellor, and he went by the name Hego Demask. Him and Sidious were literally hiding right under the Jedi's noses. Between the dark side clouding the Jedis vision and their own hubris, they never had an inkling that the Sith had never truly been destroyed, but only went into hiding.

Your video made me realise how instrumental Plagueis is in the Sith Grand Plan. He put the seeds Palpatine built upon. Plagueis' death by Palpatine is like Fire Lord Azulon was killed by Ozai in Avatar. Both were killed in their sleep, well Plagueis was asleep when attacked and drunk so that he failed to defend himself. Azulon was killed by a colourless, odorless poison.(described in the Avatar comics) And Azulon ruled during most part of the war. By Ozai's ascension, the war was more or less won.

This may be a dumb question but here goes… How could Plagueis drink wine to the point of drunkenly passing out on a couch if he had to wear a respirator at all times to keep him alive? From the artwork I’ve seen, this respirator was similar to Darth Vader’s in that it completely covered his nose and mouth. Vader could take his respirator off briefly while in bacta tanks and his pressurized pod on his Star Destroyer. Getting back to Plagueis… If he was so dependent on his respirator that he had to sleep with it on or he’d die, how could he get drunk with it covering his mouth without being in some sort of pressurized chamber? Not sure if this is addressed in the novel or anything, just curious! Great video as always! Thanks for doing what you do!

My only problem with the book is the rule of 2, there would be some overlap between where maul was trained by sidious and where sidous would’ve been plaguies’ apprentice. Sure you can make the argument that sidous was just starting his master plan but I think maul wouldn’t have been easy to hide once he revealed him to the separatists. Now if palp killed him right after he was elected to chancellor maybe it could work but even then I think what’s more likely is plagueis had this master plan that he had started setting in motion (uniting the trade federation into agreance with rebelling, getting palpatine elected as senator of Naboo) but was stricken down just before the blockade on Naboo and palpatine took plagueis’ plan, tweaked it, and ran with it

Disney and Lucas Films completely miss the obvious. Palpatine killed Amidala by cursing the necklace Anakin gave her. He then used it to focus his control of midichlorian death to kill her; she didn’t die of a broken heart, which is stupid, and he didn’t have to physically locate her! Likewise, Anakin, as Darth Vader, was kept alive in critical condition by Palpatine throughout his trip to Mustafar. Then the hand gesture he made over Anakin’s forehead kept him alive perpetually. Simply, Anakin was far too injured to remain alive despite gaining a respirator. This is also why Anakin told Luke during RotJ “It’s too late for me son.” Vader said this because between Episodes 5 & 6 he had figured out that Palpatine had him checkmated and could remove the midichlorian manipulation that kept Vader alive. As a result, Vader, if he ever attempted to usurp Palpatine at all, learned the truth: he was just a meat puppet, a sentient zombie, a powerful but mere henchman, a broken once prized marvel of a force user. Vader was a depressed recluse that barely left his castles. It wasn’t until Luke destroyed the first Deathstar in Eisode 4 that Vader regained interest again. The matter of the plans he was tracking down begrudgingly kept him from his desired isolation. By Episode 5 Vader had learned Luke was his son. Filled again with “a new hope” that his alliance with a family member would overthrow the emperor- this time with Luke and previously with Amidala. Then between Episode 5 & 6 Vader’s whole mindset changed drastically. He was no longer interested in usurping Palpatine. Why? Because he learned that Palpatine could simply turn him off, dead. Think about it! If Luke and Vader joined forces and attacked Palpatine, Luke would have fallen to the dark side. Palpatine would simply turn Vader’s life force off and he would have died gasping for air as he canonically did after throwing Palpatine down the shaft. Then Luke would watch in horror as he would have been turned into Palpatine’s new prized apprentice! Therefore, it wasn’t only Palpatine’s force lightning that fried Vader’s respirator. No, the static force manipulation that kept Vader alive, despite his severe injuries, ended at the death of its caster, Palpatine. Vader had no reason to overthrow Palpatine after he learned that he would not survive the attempt, successful or not! Vader was checkmated, period! That is why Vader lost interest in joining forces with Luke against the emperor and hope to be a family again in the dark side. Palpatine, of course had other plans and Vader would then be expendable. “Now kill your father and take his place!” It’s by far the best explanation! This revelation could be expanded to Palpatine’s killing of Plagueis. The dark side knew that Plagueis was damaged, Palpatine was to become the chancellor the next day and the choice was easy. The dark side chose Palpatine! The longer the fight went on was more advantageous for Palpatine. Plageuis either couldn’t divert enough force power to regenerate life force and fend off Palpatine’s force lightning. That or Palpatine knew enough to counter act Plageuis’s regeneration. A third option is that Plageuis, in his hubris, attempted to show his apprentice the superiority of his master by regenerating beyond the damage inflicted by his breathing difficulties and Palpatine’s force lightning. I wholly believe that the dark side is sentient and manipulative, choosing the next Sith lord whether a greater Sith or not to further the dark side’s interests.The dark side is far more cunning that way. I also believe that this life force manipulation ability is how Palpatine was able to inhabit clones of himself despite the distance from his cloning facilities. How else could it be explained? However, both Disney and Lucas Film have missed this critical plot element to the detriment of Star Wars and its fans.

It would be interesting if we could have seen an alternate version if the story. One where Plaugis lived longer. How might that have changed the story?
@jeffbridgessalt40Ай бұрын
If he lived longer he likely would have lived forever. Either that or chosen one shenanigans would have been to defeat Plageius who likely would have wiped out the Jedi Council. Anakin would have become a lot more of a commodity at that point.

What if Plagueis was killed a decade after Phantom Menace? Or what if Plagueis was killed after the Clone Wars?
@jasonallen65982 ай бұрын
I know this is a question that isn’t really about plagueis but more darth maul. do we know why mail in the clone wars didn’t go back to his saber staff? i was rewatching the clone wars and thought about it? didn’t he train with it? he would have to change his fighting style to do so?

I kind of wish we would've gotten just a little but of Plagueis in episode 1 of this 6 movie series. I'm glad they never made another movie after Return!

If the Acolyte was to make a return and lead directly up to the beginning of the phantom Menace it would be nice to see what is being said here to actually be seen...live action

Makes you wonder who would win the actual fight had Plagueis not been wasted.

And you're telling me that Palpatine can face off with this guy? Seriously? Look. I'm a fan of Sidious . But come on. If Sidious had found out that Plageius had survived, he would be pissing himself while having a panic attack.
@MrKevin4862 ай бұрын
Plagueis was powerful and skilled but his power and skill was more of an alchemist rather than pure offensive power. It's unclear if Palpatine would have beat him in a straight up fight but it's likely possible Sidious was more powerful in terms of fighting and offensive force ability..

@@MrKevin486the author said Sidious would lose in an interview
@MrKevin4862 ай бұрын
@05goode That does not mean anything. The only one who can make that definitive statement would be George Lucas. What we do know is Lucas has said outright that Palpatine is the most powerful Sith Lord ever. Now he never specifies exactly when he "claims" this title, but during the Phantom Meance, Sidious was basically in his prime. It's feasible to say Palpatine in a straight-up fight would have beat Plagueis. But Sidious is also super smart. A direct fight would have been too close and too big a risk to himself and his plans. More safe to kill him when you know he can't fight back.
