@@DubC-xq4lj it took a lots of swearing and sweating but I was able to lock the tensioners on the sides by putting my hands under the liner from the side like where back windows are and squeeze it.

Nice vid mate. Is it the same procedure when the roof is closed? Because my vcds shows a fault with the convertible switch and can t open the roof. The roof lamp in the instrument cluster is also blinking.

Thank you, sir. Damn top got 15 percent going down and stopped. If not for this video, I would never have been able to figure out how to get it back up correctly. Not secured anyway. Take this thing in to get it serviced sometime th8lis week. Again, thank you.

Hi, thanks for your helpful videos. I have a 2014 A5 convertible(only 20k miles on it) that the top has suddenly stopped working when the top gets to vertical closing position. There are no fault codes(using Autel 980pro which has top operated and not activated switch info. Hydraulic fluid is proper. The second issue is I've tried manually closing but the lever in the center trunk won't disengage. With the top opened enough to see the mechanism, I'm still not able to move lever. Your input is greatly appreciated.

In the LHS of these vehicles there's something convered in a foam like material. What's inside the foam? I need to remove or move this component to get to my MMI radio module as I believe it has become water damaged... How difficult is it to remove without taking out the boot cards? Any help appreciated!

Hi It locks automatically once the roof is fixed and hydraulic pressure is applied to close the rear deck lid Regards Team VagPro

Can the decklet be unlocked while in the up position? I ask because my top opens fine, but when I attempt to close, the top comes all the way up, but the decklet does close. It looks like I have a huge spoiler in the back. I'd hate to go through all the steps if i can just unlock the decklet and close it until i can get it checked out.

You have a fault with one of the sensors, rather just fix this as opposed to the risk of getting locked out Regards Khurrum VagPro

I've followed your steps.. all looks good but I'm still getting the yellow light flashing and it says soft top not secure. Is this a memory thing do you know and if so is there a way to reset the warning? Allowing the roof to cycle? Great vid by the way. Thanks.

James Macduff Hi, the only way to lock down the rear lid is hydraulically. I am assuming the reason why you had to close the roof manually was because there is something wrong, the primary issue needs to be resolved. Before you remove the roof liner try this. I was able to squeeze the upper tensioning bows on each side without taking the roof liner off. With the wife pushing down onto the roof deck from outside the car. Does anyone know how to reset the yellow levers and cams in the trunk / boot? Thanks for posting.

Follow up on sunroof stopping at the horizontal position when closing. I found the rear window was drooping to low and jamming against the front opening. I now need to figure out why this is happening

Hey I have a different problem with my roof, there is a flashing convertible sign reading softtop cannot be used. Even when I pull the switch for it to come down it will flash the sign . I manually pulled it back and forward with this video but it still didnt work. Also I even bought a new battery still no change. Audi A5 2010 quattro cabriolet.

Hello This is because there is a fault on the roof and it needs addressing Opening and closing the roof manually does not normally fixes If it was a battery you would also see a message saying low battery

@@CabrioletTech it got about 90% of the way closed/up then stopped. I could put it back down no problem but just wouldn’t close all the way, so I jumped the gun and just pulled the levers and now I regret it cause what could of been an easy fix just got harder

So there's no way to do this without having to take of the liner? So apparently the manual use of the convertible top is just for emergency use to open or close but not to be able to use it recreationally because then liner will be off 🥺

Hello, There is a way to do it without removing the liner, you can squeeze your hand in behind the liner and lock and unlock the tensioner without the key. Once you remove the lino it is possible to understand how to do this, you can then refit the liner and just do it blind

Was able to get top up, but now top motor does not function? How do you reset the top mechanism? How do you put the trim back? What is the CAUSE of this problem?!

Good questions, if only I knew why every cabriolet roof failed without even seeing the car, let alone using diagnostic equipment You get a cabriolet specialist to diagnose the fault, said fault must then be repaired Set it in a position it recognises and it continues to work the cycle Then you, refit the fabric whilst it's mid cycle and close with button
