Such a smart car - Kia have really got a brand identity sorted out, now. Great review as ever. I do like how Kia and Hyundai have made independent suspension standard, compared with Ford's mean restriction of same to their more expensive Focus models.

This is the first Kia I've ever considered. Great value and looks combined though I keep feeling thinking the design is a little dated. I'm just glad it's not ugly.

So glad you went over the name so effectively without making some dumb joke. See, the name is pretty simple and actually has reason behind it. Wasn't hard to explain. I don't get why other reviewers don't just explain that, instead they lamely try to copy Top Gear/Jeremy Clarkson and make some stupid joke about it. It's like they struggle to criticise much else about the car, so they resort to the name.

One of the best and most informative reviews out there. Bit long, however enjoyed it anyway. Just traded in my proceed 1.0 T for the new Proceed 1.4 automatic. Great looking car. Have to patient now, can’t wait to get it and start enjoying this much more refined 3rd generation ceed... 😇🥰

Just got the new Ceed GT line 1 litre. Cracking car with great sports features Inc , Sports seats Full leather and heated racing steering wheel, Heated front seats 17 inch sports alloy's And full auto lights Hell of a improvement on the last Ceed GT line

Value really depends on what you want from your car and also on Focus discounts. Ford has huge discounts and great special offers. Looks are of course personal preference. The Kia looks great but I also like the Focus and the interior of the Focus is imo superior.

@@bingobongo1615 drove both the focus and the kia ceed. At least in December 2019, the focus interior while comparatively similar, felt lower quality. Buttons felt dodgy, surrounded by lesser quality plastic. Seats also felt a bit less supportive. Good point was the handling of the focus, but I did find the break too strong. Im not bias, having driven an Opel till now. Just an overall feeling.

Thanks as always for the detailed review, I have two questions that I hope you could help with. Are the top spec LED headlights comparable for night vision to other main stream competitors say a Golf. Plus is the real world economy (I do lots of B-roads and rural lane driving) comparable with a Golf TSi with 150HP (i have found this engine to be a sweet spot for oomph plus economy). Best wishes

I'm getting a gt one of these, I had a 09 ceed with 1.6 petrol, so much fun to drive when thrashed, quicker than my brother in laws Swift sport. Also better specced than comparable golf, focus etc at the time. Only complaint was 5 speed box and a bit noisy at 60mph (70 fine). We've owned loads of kias as a family (currently have an optima sportswagon) and I think there so much value for money compared to the seat (another great car) and alfas we've owned.

Would be a great choice as insurance is fairly low and the the drive is easy going. You could look at the smaller Kia Rio or Picanto too

Had a kia. Broke down twice on the motorway with my 5 year old daughter in it. That was at 70mph. Broke down again 7 times getting to the garage for repair. Fuel rail and..ready for it..engine management fused. Love the style they nailed it but no way will I have another. 7 year warranty..no wonder

ive had a ceed 3 estate on a 15 plate and now have a gt line s hatchback on a 17 plate.its head and shoulders above a focus or boring golf.

The Golf is not boring at all - it’s a classic design that ages well. Great cars. Quirky new designs look passé after a few years.

Beware os pseudo-automatic DCT gearbox. In traffic jams, it jerks, badly reduces gears (7km/h and 3rd gear?!). Also I think I don't have a cabin filter in my model, because I can smell any diesel that goes in front of me and I'm sure that air it should go through filter and remove that smell, but it doesn't...!
