Thanks! I like this car. It resolves all my issues with Tesla's design. I like the proper dash with a gauge cluster. I like buttons too. The minimalist approach is terrible in my opinion. I also prefer an opening sunroof with a retractable shade rather than the gigantic glass roof that lets the sun bake the interior. The heads up display is a nice safety bonus. This car looks to be significantly more efficient than a Model 3 Tesla. Brilliant car!

I totally agree with all of that. I hate all features crammed into the touch screen.

Ev9 shows turn by turn navigation in HUD. However, I still have "blocks" instead of cars (as per instrument cluster). I hope EV3 improvements are coming to the EV9 with the upcoming update. Well done, Brian! Thanks for the POV ride.

When i test drove EV9 in February the turn by turn appeared only after i did the downloadable Infotainment update from USB. So the very first ones out of the factory didn't have turn by turn from Android Auto.

@evodessey this is what I meant Sorry for the confusion. I just said that EV9 now shows turn by turn for own navigation as well as for AA and Waze.

I know,my dealer said it was when i returned the car. I put captions on screen to say that in several places in the video. The GT Line we also test drove had no problems with rattles.

Why do have so many speed bumps on your roads? Also why have those cones blocking half the road. Is it a way to slow you down. Just asking since our roads are way different in Ontario. Great video Brian, thanks. Can’t wait till we can get one in Ontario. I like the car.
@evodessey13 сағат бұрын
Cheers.We have many speed bumps on many 30Mph or less roads. We also get them mostly near schools where they have many 20Mph speed limits. There is a bit of speeding culture in the UK i’m afraid. The cones are where you are approaching road works on Motorways or where they can't be bothered to remove them. Sometimes they are left from overnight road works..

Hi Brian great video. You answered a lot of my questions as you were driving but what is the ride like compared to our EV6. Because if I’m to buy one of these it would be the GTLINE S version.
@evodesseyКүн бұрын
Ride is no different to EV6 to me. You feel higher up compared to EV6.I did spin the front wheels a bit in sport mode but that is normal for front wheel drive. If you can wait a while i think the AWD GT version would be an even better option.

Congratulations on your EV3 purchase! Which model and colour did you choose? One thing I can't find anywhere is if the EV3 has Active Sound Design like the EV6. Do you know? Active Sound Design is a feature that makes virtual engine sounds when you press the accelerator pedal for driving pleasure. You can adjust the volume and change the settings for acceleration pedal response and sound style.

Where are the rear facing cameras please?, in the mirrors?, only views backwards came up on the display when you exited roundabouts and a junction?
@evodessey3 сағат бұрын
The GT Line S has the full 3d camera view. The other trims don’t have it. The rear camera is on the tailgate just below the rear window. The GT Line S has a camera looking down on each side mirror. The 4th camera is on the front maybe at the top of the windscreen.

@ Thankyou, we have the Niro EV, it looks as though the EV3 would be an even bigger step forward for us than you from your EV6. Coming from an Enyaq, the slower charge speed of the Niro is more irritating than I thought it would be and the sound proofing ( particularly in heavy rain) not as good. Everything else, even the dreaded “bongs” has been fine.

How did you get the adaptive cruise control to jump to the speed limit ? I normally have to manually click down or up to make it loop through the numbers, but you seemed to do something where it just jumps to the current ? Or did I not see that correctly ? PS: For the lane change, you don't need to put on full indicator, just press up or down (no engaging) the car will then keep the indicator on until the lane change is complete. There is no need to use full lock indicator
@evodesseyКүн бұрын
It’s a trick that someone pointed out in one of my videos a few years back so i can’t take credit. I’m planning to demo it on my EV6 before it goes. If in smart cruise control and for example i’m already doing 60 and the speed limit is 60 and i can see i’m approaching a 30 zone i press the cruise control pause button. I then let the car regen brake in ipedal mode until it’s must above 30 (maybe 32) then push the up speed button,that then resumes the cruise control at that speed. You then get offered either the up or down speed arrows on screen or on HUD,you can then resume at 30mph by pressing the up and down arrows. It’s totally changed the way i use smart cruise control.

I appreciate it’s a test drive but all those warning bleeps would send me mad, together with all the reading of menus and prodding the screen is distracting. My own 8 year old car has a screen, climate gets pressed about twice per year, summer 19C, winter 21C. Radio or music is easy to access.
@evodessey13 сағат бұрын
You are not wrong. All those beeps are part of the safety systems on modern cars which seem to be there to satisfy Euro NCAP 5 star rating. Most can be turned off in the menus but some come back on after every time the car is started . Also this is not just an EV thing these days all cars get them if they want the 5 star safety rating.

1st…what are your thoughts on the ev3? Hope there wouldn’t be issues with the 12v battery.😊
@evodesseyКүн бұрын
I like it enough to order one. It feels very similar to drive internally to my EV6. They’ve already issued an OTA update for an issue where the power tailgate could drain 12v battery so hopefully no more 12v surprises.

Only the video camera shows the LEDs on the driver attention monitor. I think they may be infrared detectors but i’m not 100% sure.

what are the two red lights on top of the steering colummn for?
@RobertBuckley-tj3pxКүн бұрын
They only show up when looking through a camera. It looks blank to the eye. They are watching you and set off the awareness warningif they dont like what they see. You are invited to take a break and an illustration of a hot drink appears and a warning sounds. A bit of a nuisance to be honest. Only had ours a week so I will be looking for how to turn it off in the morning. We are loving the car and did our first long journey yesterday.
@evodesseyКүн бұрын
You can only see them with a video camera. They are the driver attention warning system. They are used to watch where your eyes are pointing. Take your eyes off the road too long and it beeps.

@@evodesseyyou can’t. But in the menu you can. Reverts to on each time you start. You can add a short cut key to get to the page where you can turn it off, but as I’m in Spain, sunglasses are almost always on in the day and it can’t see your eyes so doesn’t chime.
@lr_spbКүн бұрын
Too many alert sounds can be quite annoying, and the overly sensitive attention alerts aren't particularly useful. It would be much better if the factory settings reduced the number of warnings, keeping just the essential ones for speed and driver attention. Another big improvement would be for Kia to ensure the speed limits are accurate, sparing drivers from unnecessary alerts when they're already adhering to the correct speed. Personally, I’ve made it a routine to turn off the sound on the speed warning (by holding the volume button down on the steering wheel for two seconds) and to pre-program the favourite button on the steering wheel for the driving assistant. From there, I can quickly disable the attention alerts-the true “terrorists” of the drive.
@evodesseyКүн бұрын
I’ve gotten used to the alerts from my EV6. The driver attention one is probably the most annoying.

Sunglasses - no driver alerts. The speed limit change can be turned off and it stays off. That leaves the speed limit warning which is a simple button press and hold.
