Thanks Brian. Did this summer's recall but my ICCU failed this week....not able to AC charge but OK on DC so far. New ICCU on order. What a pain! Interestingly, there were no warnings at all. The problem came to light when the house and Wallbox circuit breakers tripped.
@evodessey8 сағат бұрын
Yes, that's quite common as a symptom of ICCU failure. Some also go whilst driving and the fuse goes pop. No rhyme or reason to it.

@@evodessey thanks for this, in the US Midwest, 23’ Ioniq 5 SEL AWD. Everything‘s been good except for the USB data port for CarPlay is being replaced as I type. It seems to have a short in it or something. I am considering selling it to get what I can due to the depreciation rate, and getting a Prius. Also tired of going in for recalls. Makes me wonder how long this car will last!?
@ronnelson068249 сағат бұрын
Thank you as always for your videos and info, very informative. I have a 2022 Ioniq 5 SEL RWD Big 77.4 kWh battery and 303 miles per charge per EPA. Mine was manufactured in November 2021 and I believe I was one of the first 500 owners in the United States of America. I am retired and I have lots of patience and I believe 100% in no tailpipe emissions. I have had three long bouts of service in the almost 3 years and 71,000 miles that I’ve driven. Each time I got a loaner car and one time I got an EV loaner car, all for free. I never had to get my car towed to the dealership for the service stints, I have always been able to drive to the dealership. In the service dept for three weeks the first time because I had a phantom 12v battery drain……. obviously ICCU related. I changed my password on MyHyundai Bluelink app, and the car was fine, magically. By the way, I have had all software updates and recalls and TSB’s done in a timely manner. The second time my 12 V battery died and the car was in for two weeks and I basically out of pity paid them US$275 for a new shitty Hyundai 12 V battery….. I know I know I know, but I did feel bad for them because there’s absolutely no maintenance on my car and there’s no way for service to make any money on me…… they are a good dealer who cares about their customers and that’s important to me. My second 12 V battery was free so I’ve had three 12 V batteries in less than three years and 71,000 miles. Talk about unprecedented, I swear I may go through a 12 V battery in my 20 or 25 other cars in the past every four years every five years……. I honestly don’t recall ever having to worry about a 12 V battery. Hyundai has changed all that for me, unhappy face. I just got my car back from my third stint in the service department and this one lasted a week and two days. They gave me a new ICCU. Finally. They say my third 12 V battery is fine but I think it’s going to shit the bed very soon and I will just buy the correct 12 V battery and call it a day. My latest stink at the service department was because my car stopped AC charging completely, level one or level two. In fact, my car’s ICCU broke, busted, zapped my level two juice box 40 in the garage and tripped the 50 amp breaker in my main service panel. Now I have no level two charger because the charger is lighting up in different colors and beeping five times which means something about the firmware but as we all know,ENELX has left North America and left me in the lurch, and there’s no technical support whatsoever and there’s no emailing them. I have now opened up a customer service case with Hyundai to kindly ask them to replace my level two charger and to pay me for the DC fast charging that I had to do because I couldn’t do level two or level one charging in my garage due to the ICCU failure. Oh my!!!!! I drove the car to the casino last night and it seems to be perfectly fine and normal and all good. I did a little bit of DC fast charging last night and it went brilliantly and I have been charging in the garage at level one all night and that seems to be going spectacularly; albeit slowly. The bottom line continues to be the same for this car, it is the best car I ever drove or bought, and it is saving me a ton of money in fuel and maintenance. The HDAII IS THE MOST STRESS-FREE AND PLEASANT WAY TO DRIVE AND BEING IN THE CABIN OF THIS HOT HATCH IS WONDERFUL. Owning a brand new e-GMP vehicle is not for the faint of heart, just like buying a model T wasn’t. I remain committed to stopping the burning of fossil fuels.

My EV6 ICCU was replaced in the summer (I had the warning message and the car was off the road for 5 weeks waiting for the part). On return the car is fine, but AC charging at home trips the circuit breaker (between the charger and the consumer unit) after charging anything up to about an hour. However if I restrict the charger to 20 amps (and not 30 amps), it charges ok. The car has been back and they can find nothing wrong. Now waiting for my charger to be checked. It would be quite a coincidence that the charger develops fault at exactly the same time as the ICCU was replaced!

The recalls have served to try and prevent the most dangerous issues related to iccu failure (line complete brake failure when the brake booster on 12v fails) not actually prevent failures.

Just been in and had 12v battery replaced, not holding charge and not covered under warranty as the car is nearly 3 years old, is this related to ICCU? Would expect a 12v battery to last longer than 3 years! Also had a service which included SOS battery replacement and the dealership managed to damage a connection, so some of the ambient lightning is not working, part has to come from Korea!
@evodesseyКүн бұрын
The SOS battery is embedded in the Infotainment/Drivers cluster and is a pain to take to bits apparently. The way the EV’s in general and the EV6 charge their 12v battery is part of the reason for the short life on 12v battery. On my wife’s Renault Zoe they recommend changing every 3 years. My first EV6 one only lasted 18 months. You’ve done well out of it. On Ice Cars i rarely changed 12v battery. Last Ford Focus was still good at 5 years when i traded it in for an e-Niro i 2020.

The big party trick is you can easily fit two tall people 6ft+ one in the front and one directly behind if you move the rear seats back. Which for me is a good selling point, plus the way the seats fold flat including the front passenger to give you a large load space.

A stud extractor kit would have been easier to remove the broken wheel stud, rather than taking off the hub, or a drill bit and drill the centre out and hammer in a allen key and screw it out. as a safety note never rely on a jack to hold up the car, use a axle stand or even the wheel put under it.
@evodessey3 күн бұрын
The jack thing was already mentioned up the comments. I did have borrowed axle stands but did not use them all the time. Fair comment. I should know better.

Traction control uses the abs to stop wheels from losing traction and move traction to the other wheel. Torque vectoring actually changes the torque to the wheels on an axle and should be a lot more refined than TCS

According to some US KZbin channels it’s still coming so i continue to live in hope. Once the dispute was settled with Map providers and Apple or whoever (not 100% sure) cCNC got it first (EV9,Kona,EV3) then Genesis models with Gen 6 head units got it in the August update. So will it come in the December update? Would be a nice Christmas present. I’m probably way to much of an optmist though😂

The new Android Connect app now shows not only the charging speed in kWh but also the total amount of charge added to the car at the point of refreshing the screen. This is useful in my case as I have a very long cable run from the house to the charger and so losses are greater. Also shows time to completion. This is in the Kia Niro EV.

I now have my EV3. Sadly, I can confirm, UK EV3's do not have reclining rear seats. So there is a gap between the seats and the load cover. However, it is impossible to see into the gap from the outside. So it's no big deal, for me at least. Also, I can confirm, the Sunset Orange colour looks nothing like the brown colour on the configurator. It's way more orange. There is a Korean video that shows the proper colour kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6uplGl3eax5obc

Sweden also didn’t get reclining rear seats. Absolute epic fail in a country full of tall Vikings 😖 My boy is 2 meters and fits in the back of Niro EV due to reclining rear seats but he doesn’t fit in the EV3. What a shame. I will not buy EV3 based on the absence of a cheap part to the seats. Funny that Asians get reclined seats although they’re way shorter than the Nordic average.

I've found that it is always on European time and ignores UK time so I uncheck daylight saving in October and then it's correct until March then just re-check daylight saving time. The logic is back to front but it's the easiest way I've found. Other cars can just do this automatically drive.google.com/file/d/1xBClLZGWgdzh7OMDDWQKfM-euRHntPzw/view?usp=drivesdk
