Thanks Nobby, another useful practical video. I’ve ordered a GT Line here in London, but weird how different the specs are to ROI. We also have Air, GT Line, and GT Line S. I also noticed that the seat heating buttons on your video are physical, whereas on the GT Line I test drove here they were touch buttons (and accidentally activated them and roasted my backside until I’d worked out why!).

I've ordered an earth model and here's why. Two main reasons; 1. My kia dealer had a earth available and I'm collecting it Friday. I didn't want to wait until July '22 to get the Gt-line. 2. I'm 6ft tall and in the gt-line the sunroof does encroach a little more on head height than the earth. Also, the interior of the gt-line is very dark compared to the earth. Obviously, you get a little more internal tech options with the GT-line, and outside; I prefer the subtle changes on the front and rear bumper and nicer alloys......But....all things considered....the Earth is a better offering IMO.

I'm getting a GT line version of this car in 2 weeks (hopefully). For €5000 extra you get, Sunroof 360 degree parking monitor Adaptive front headlights 20inch alloys Ventilated front seats Heated rear seats Metal pedals Blind spot monitor view on dash Remote Smart parking assist Augmented reality heads up display Nicer outside styling Theres probably more that I cant think of...... In my view it's well worth the extra 5 grand ( if you have it of course) Imagine what that would cost on a BMW or Mercedes or heaven forbid on an Audi.

Imagine what it would cost is right… GT spec is lovely, I think what I realised from this model is, is not badly specced either to be fair. Good luck with it, they’re a great car!

I've the GT line on order in Black. GT Line doesn't come in that beautiful steel grey colour which doesn't make any sense to me. I'm considering switching to Earth just to get the nicer colour.

These reviews just make me want to keep my e-Niro for longer... I'd have to buy a GT Line EV6 to retain my heated rear seats? While the range wouldn't improve and the charging speed increase just doesn't seem to happen that often? IDK, the e-Niro package still seems hard to beat after all these years.

We ordered ours in the Base version, packed with everything that comes with the GT line, because I love the black parts on the outside and I wanted the 19 inch wheels. When you set up a base EV6 the same way the GT Line comes without extras, the GT line is only about 200 Euros more. So it mainly depends on which seats you like, which color and which front and rear bumper style you prefer.

My issue is that I prefer the GT-line front and rear bumper styles and the body colour wheel arches, but also prefer the brighter sky that's not available on the GT-line. Whyyyyy!?!

Oh and also the seat ventilation/heating buttons are capacitative on the GT-line vs. physical buttons on the Earth/Air trims. Physical buttons are clearly preferable so again, why?!?

@@TobiasThierer As I said above - it's personal taste. Some prefer the GT Line bumpers, some prefer the Baseline bumpers. In Germany there is no difference regarding capacity or physical buttons on the middle console depending on GT Line or Baseline, and the 19 inch wheels reduce battery consumption. Kia offers both, so that people can chose whatever they prefer. It's simple marketing :-)

@@therealkickers5166 sure I know it's personal taste (although I bet most would prefer the GT-line bumper style), it just doesn't make any sense that Kia doesn't offer the bright skyline on the GT-line. Also, since you mention being from Germany, Kia does not sell acoustic glass on *any* version in Germany, only solar glass; in some other countries, GT-line comes with acoustic glass (better noise isolation) on the windscreen and front windows.

Its so nice to find a review of the base model, as nearly all other reviewers have tested the GT Line. I have just ordered the Air in the UK and really can't see why anyone would pay the extra for better model, when all of the extra features are things you wouldn't use very much. I could've afforded it but couldn't see a good enough reason. The blind spot camera would be distracting and the bigger wheels would've hurt the range.

Charge times will be slower below 25 degrees without the heat pump preconditioning the battery pack so I would choose the GT-Line that has that option.

Must admit a very interesting review Nobby. I think the Kia EV6 in general is one of the few that I think is most striking in terms of its design apart from the forthcoming electric Mégane. I think I prefer the Kia over it's Hyundai sister. The features you don't get if you have the Earth model Vs the GT Line are nice but like you keenly observed, I'm not sure if they're an extra 5 grand essential. As you know I live in the Northern Ireland and I don't know what models are available here but in saying that about the only thing I thing that looks marginally better is the wheels on the GT Line but I couldn't justify the extra money for that reason, again the blind spot camera is a great thing but I'd be very surprised if that wasn't a software addition in so far as I reckon the Earth model might have the same camera but it's simply not enabled and would be a case of if you knew what you were doing plugging a laptop in it to make that part work as it seems to the way with the electric cars these days that most of the features on the lesser specced models can be turned on for a fee or updated over the air as it's known. A great and interesting in review which gives me much food for thought.

Hi Nobbs. You are correct about spec. I am getting the GT line in two weeks. I sat in Earth car in showroom..much brighter and very well equipped. I wold love that Earth interior in the GT line. As for vegan leather, is it from some poor plant. Can we not say man made leather or material. Great review as always.

American here. We have something called the "Wind" model that does still have the ventilated seats. It's $5000 USD less for the Wind versus the GT-Line but it seems ours has more features. Odd choice by Kia.

Another great vid, but I don’t think its that clear cut. For me I can definitely see the difference between the two in the front albeit black does make it harder to distinguish and I did order my GT line S in black. Of course there is a price difference, but when you add up all of the differences together such as , heads up display, blind spot monitor, i think better ambient light options, matrix lights(i think) sunroof, 20” alloys and in my case I ordered the white leather insert with black suede outer edges as brightens up the car. Ventilated front seats, heated rear seats. Plus and probably a big cost that you get extra is the Meridian sound system. I think when you add all that up the 5k difference isn’t as bad as it sounds. I of course am basing this on ordering mine in Sweden and what we get hear. But I think that the whole picture of what extras you get need to be considered. Plus compare this to what other manufactures charge for these extras these days and its way more. Easiest way is go on to Kia’s configuration site and it shows the differences. Also I would take in to account residual values of the GTLine against the Earth as this could have a bearing as well.

One of the curiosities about the Hyundai company is that ranges and specs vary enormously, even within EU destined cars. This makes it very difficult for this Briton in Spain, as the versions available here have very different specs (and prices )to what you get in RoI. Here, the base spec really is very basic (and only available with the small battery). Yet KIA have much the same versions (no "Earth" version, just Air, GT line and GT, but they are all available with the big battery.. My problem is that I really don't like dark interiors, and the EV's best effort is still a LONG way from the Iconiq (sic) 5's lovely, airy interior.For me the Hyundai's interior is well worth €2500 difference. That that price is in the Hyundai's favour is just a big bonus.Shame it doesn't get the longer warranty.

hi Rohit - it is just a car for reviews from Kia, it's not mine. You can get lucky if you're not fussy on colour etc but others are waiting months and some dealers have stopped taking orders for the GT-Line.

I love the front of the EV6 and I love the rear of the Ionic. They’re essentially the same car so you should just test both and see which you prefer. The EV6 feels a bit more agile that’s about it.

Watch RSymmons video on space between ID4, Mach E and Kia EV6. For back passenger space much better tge EV6 won. I drove Mach E and Audi Q4 etron both are ok, but I opted for a Kia EV6 GT line S as was more impressed and over all more space and higher quality level for the money. Especially disappointed with the Audi as a lot of scratchy plastic for the money and every thing extea. But you need to test all of them and make the decision on how you feel and what you need. .

Very good review ! 5000€ yikes ! I agree 'Earth' is perfect ! I am little bit confused though Nobby , is there an Earth , GT-Line and GT version ? If so what is the difference between Earth and GT-Line ? As for the car itself , irrespective of trim it is superb to behold and must have VW a quivering in their boots . Do you think such a car is a feasible option (compared to pure hybrid UX Lexus) with an on street parking address ?

hi Richard - depends on your mileage but you could only need to charge it once a week so the lack of driveway may not be an issue. There's all 3 versions (the latter now here yet).

Quick question i was on the Kia website and on that is says the Earth trim is €54,300 and Gt line €65,000 don't see any Gt line for €55,000.€11,000 difference between the earth and gt thats alot turning me off

Great video! For me, the sunroof on the GT line rules it out. Can't stand a wet patch on the seat from the condensation off the glass. For that reason and the 5 grand off, earth model all the way!

Is it just me or is Kia and Hyundai now in on the joke with 'god awful' Tesla to design and produce the most ugly looking cars ever designed in the current century? How many months since released and already looking 'snigger' worthy! Even saving 5000 euro is it really going to 'age well'? No! Just buy a Corsa or a 208e. ANd then save some real euros!
