Great comparo! Thanks. However, as an owner of a 2019 Kia Niro EV in my opinion, having the charging port in the middle of the front grill is very useful. I appreciate your concerns about icing, but for most of the world that's simply not an issue and it's much more practical in our experience charging both at home and on the road to have the charge port in the middle of the front.

It really depends on the person, because I also prefer it in the rear since I reverse into all parking spots both at home and away... and thank you, I am glad you like my video 😎

Anyone else get distracted by the runaway hubcap at 16:30? :D I just got a 2022 Niro EV and so far I am loving it. This is my first KIA. I was hesitant at first about buying a KIA because all I could think about were the "buy one get one for a penny" Kia commercials of years past. Now I can say I am already thinking about the EV6 being my next upgrade in a few years. Great videos André! I really appreciate all of your thoughts and input on the Niro EV, those videos have been very helpful for me so far.
@EV-olution2 жыл бұрын
I included the hubcap specifically to see if anyone would notice, and because it was a serious distraction while I was talking and recording, with other cars slowing down, and I was pretty proud of taking it in stride and being able to keep the take 😎. Kia has come a very long way since the early days of crappy cars. Kia has won multiple awards for quality, fit and finish, and both my previous Niro EV and my new EV6 are the best cars I have ever owned, hands down. I am glad my videos could help steer you to the Niro EV, it is a fantastic car, and if you eventually upgrade to the EV6 you won't regret it. There are some little things, and I will be making a video, so stay tuned. Thanks for sticking with my channel and watching 😎

As far as charge port, I find it fine in the front as a person with a garage. It makes it easier to charge and disconnect since my plug is in front and I drive straight in. I also prefer that it isn’t motorized as it’s one less thing to have to worry about failing.
@EV-olution2 жыл бұрын
Each person has their own preference and that is what is nice about having options, but since I park backwards everywhere, both at home and away, having the charge port in front is not convenient, on top of the issue of the ice and snow in the winter, so for my needs it is better 😎

Hello again. I also had the same 2019 eNiro and recently received delivery of an EV6 in BC. Same model but in Yacht Blue. Have had it for two weeks. Amazing vehicle with tons of major features above and beyond the top eNiro including AWD / 320 hp, powered passenger seat and lift gate, more interior room, sound foam in tires, adjustable heads up display, 255 tires, separate passenger climate controls. The in dash and HUD displays of the blind spot status are amazing. Not too concerned about the frunk (it is bigger in the RWD model) and put the charge cable and vehicle-to-load wand there. No issue so far with the absence of a wiper. I have travelled in rain and although the area below the spoiler gets dirty as usual, the rear window remained as clear as any regular sedan. Only negative is the single line map and lack of background options (only back or white that also affects the driver display). The double line map in the eNiro was much better. A software update for the map would be nice. Also the radio presets are harder to use than the eNiro. Looking forward to your videos on the EV6

Congrats on the new car. Please keep us updated on your experience with the lack of a rear wiper. I think that was a real design miss for the EV6 and Ioniq 5 in the Canadian market.
@EV-olution2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. I am not very concerned about the rear window on the EV6 due to the more sloped design and the lower spoiler edge that prevents the wind swirl from getting higher up. The Ioniq 5 has a more verticle rear window and no protection from the wind swirling, which is why it gets so dirty. So far, after 2 weeks of driving in the rain, my rear window is no worse than sedans with short trunks that I have owned. I will be commenting on this in a future video.

Surely adding the option to have the startup sound on or off would be a simple addition for the E-Niro in a software update...

7:25 - It's probably due to a difference in arm length, but I find it relatively easy to fold down the rear seats from the back of the Niro EV. With that said, the EV6's lever is definitely easier to pull (I tried it in a demo car at a dealership). Anyway, congrats on your purchase! I was considering buying the EV6 but the US dealerships are charging $10,000 over MSRP for the car.
@EV-olution2 жыл бұрын
The trunk of the EV6 is much deeper than the Niro EV, so having the levers on the top of the seats would be inconvenient as they would be very far as compared to the Niro EV. As for US dealers... I am glad we have laws here in Québec that prevent that kind of abuse.

I have found that it is the little things too: 1) The absence of any "black cladding" around the wheels and lower body line etc means the end of the arduous task of trying to keep these areas looking black and not dull/faded grey. Great improvement on the EV 6 over the Niro. (I went through a lot of "Back to Black and elbow grease to try to keep them looking good). Check out the amount of black cladding all over the 2023 Subaru Soltera - yikes!). 2) The flush handles mean no more nail scratch marks in the handle recesses 3) The rear hatch opening under the hatch means no more nail scratch marks on the opening sill as my eNiro wound up having
@EV-olution2 жыл бұрын
Those are good points, thanks for sharing. One tip for black cladding, that I was supposed ot make a video about this year, was the fact that you can treat the black trim with vegetable oil and the trim will be beautiful for months. I did this 2 years in a row and only needed to wipe the plastic down 2 times per year; and when I mean wipe down, I mean simply dragging the oiled scott towel across the plastic, no rubbing needed.

Great choice of color, I love it, especially since it is my first red car ever. The tires on the GT Line Pack 2 are 255/45/20. As for the lack of a wiper, this is a non-issue that people are a bit obsessed with. Since the rear glass is on a steep angle and there is a lower spoiler at the brake light edge, the wind turbulance does not let dirt accumulate on the rear window. Hi, I was happy to see that you changed to an EV 6. Following your “evolution” has been really fun as I got my E-Niro around the same time as I discovered your channel. I got my EV6 RWD plus in January. Northern Sweden is nice and snowy this time of year but the driving experience has been good. Better than my E-Niro. Quieter and at least as stable. The front trunk is a good 50 liters at least. One thing I noticed driving on snowy roads seemed better with regeneration set at LV2. I wonder if this is just subjective or if others have similar experiences. I haven’t understood what the “snow” mode is doing. Thanks for a good show.

There are two reasons she did not take the Niro EV: 1) She is very analog and the Niro EV has too much tech to her liking. You've got excellent timing! I'd been set on a Niro EV but then I saw the EV6 and really like the design of the dashboard, as well as being able to get 120VAC (in the US anyway?) from the traction battery. Was a bit worried about not having rear windshield wiper but so far, it sounds as that it's not needed. I'm a little worried that the rear window appears to be fairly small (short) which might limit visibility. I've got a 2005 Prius that is still working like a champ but I'm keeping a close eye on EVs.

The lack of rear wiper is a non-issue in the EV6, unlike the Ioniq 5, because the EV6 rear hatch has a steep angle as well as a lower spolier that runs along the brake light. This means that very little turbulance hits the rear glass, leaving it clean. The back of my car is pretty dirty, but the glass is clean, very much like on a sedan.

The wait time for the EV6 is out of hand here in Canada; Kia Canada actually stopped taking orders as of 18h00 yesterday and deliveries for orders just placed are not about 24 months out. I will be making lots of EV6 content, but I can assure you that, for me, the upgrade is well worth it, but be aware, the EV6 is very big compared to the e-Niro, so manuverability in smaller European streets may be more difficult.

Hi Andre, great review I have had my E Niro for 1 year now, and I attended the launch of the EV6 at my local dealer. I will wait until later this year when the new E Niro (to be called the Niro EV) before choosing - I do like the higher seating position of the Niro though?
@EV-olution2 жыл бұрын
The lower seating position of the EV6 was a bit of a surprise to me, but thankfully it is not as low as the Tesla Model 3; that was a deal breaker issue for me. In the EV6 I raised the seat (I am only 5'8") so it is close enough to the Niro EV seating position I had that I am very happy. I also look forward to seeing and reviewing the new Niro EV.

Hello André Thank you for this vidéo, you have sold your three years old Kia e-niro, have you measured battery degradation ? And if yes what was it and with which tool have you measured it ? Thank you in avance for your answer.

Thank you for watching, I appreciate it. Also to note, you can ask me questions in French if you like; I see you use the accent aigu, donc ne vous genez pas pour communiquer en français car je suis du Québec 😎. I sold my Niro three weeks before getting my EV6. The battery was still at 100% state of health after 58,000km of driving and almost 3 years. You can see your battery state of health by using an OBD2 Bluetooth adapter and an app, like Torque Pro (paid) or Car Scanner (free), or you can use the very nice EVOBD2 adapter made by a local Québec resident. I made videos about both methods in 2020, here are the links: Kia Niro EV Secret Tech Information - kzbin.info/www/bejne/npjJk6d9r7meZ7s NO SKILLS REQUIRED! Hello André, Thank you for your answer, I wrote my questions in English to allow everybody to understand Q&A. My e-niro has only 22000kms and almost 2 years. I have baught the obd2 bluetooth adapter and my battery is still at 100% but I don't know if it is the reality since on the litterature on battery it is said that on the begining of it's life the battery lose quite rapidly 5% and then decreasing more slowly. But obviously it dépends on multiple factors (age, number of kilomètres, charge type etc...). I have read that the real battery capacity is greater than 64kw (around 67kwl) it is maybe why it remains at 100% wait and see...
@EV-olution2 жыл бұрын
@@jackxuor8601 you are correct, the actual battery capacity is about 67kWh (a bit more) and the degradation happens in the top buffer zone of the battery, which is good because you get to have all 64kWh available for a long time. As for how much it degrades, that depends on many factors, but I can say that it is probably less than 5% in most cases, especially if you keep your regular maximum charging limit at 80 or 90%. I had mine set to 90% and only used 100% if I was going on a long trip. I did have several fast charging sessions, but only on long trips once or twice per year, so this all contributes to keeping the battery healthy. SInce it worked for my Niro EV I am doing the same thing with my EV6.

I like to have local service. The EV6 and Ioniq 5 both have some things that are better than the other. As a kid of the 80's the pixel design on the Ioniq 5 speaks to me.

Love the car, André, especially the colour. How are you finding the lack of rear wiper though? I could see when you were driving that rain was building up on the rear screen. No chance of a camwipe either I guess? Congrats too on 1 million views - your style is much more relaxed than you were back then, and the videos much better as a result. :)
@EV-olution2 жыл бұрын
As for the Camwipe, unfortunately not possible on this car and I am going to miss it. And thank you very much. Lots of practice and not stressing about trying to make things perfect seem to help 😎. Thanks again, I am glad I am getting better at this.

I'm thrilled you have an EV6 now because I planned to pick one up once I return my Niro next year when the lease expires. I can live vicariously though you for at least another year. One small thing I dislike about my Niro is the loud and wimpy-sounding motors on the power folding mirrors and the rear wiper. Has that been improved?

Great video Andre. It’s nice to see a review of the EV6 from someone locally living with the same road conditions and climate that we’re subjected to. I have the LR AWD pack 2 in the same red coming later this year (hopefully). I’d be curious about your thoughts on a couple of issues that I’ve heard about from other sites. Headlight brightness or lack of.. Sound quality of the stereo Charging time in the winter at charging stations. Apparently the lack of preconditioning renders it a loooong process Pre Heating the cabin while the car is plugged in. Problem with Ioniq5 and Ev6? Dead 12v battery Looking forward to your other videos on the EV6. Merci!
@EV-olution2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, and thanks for watching. I will be addressing the points you have mentioned, but here is a quick reply... - The headlights are fine. Could they cover a larger area? Yes. When I tried them at night the first time, did I notice an issue, or lack of performance that stood out? No. - Meridian system: To keep this simple, if you use the default Meridian intelligent sound, or whatever it's called, the sound quality is good, but restrained. I set everything manually and find the sound of much higher quality than the Niro EV Harmon Kardon system. The base is much tighter and the sound is much more realistic. The Niro EV was more punch in the chest base, but more sloppy. Different styles of sound, but one is not necessarily better than the other. I really like the Meridian. - Charging time: You have to put things into context. The EV6 and Ioniq can charge at a very high speed. In the winter, without the ability to heat up the battery first, it may charge at around 50kW to start and ramps up as it heats up. 50kW is slow as compared to the optimal number, but still OK and the same speed as a Chevy Bolt. Is 50kW slow, yes, but the Niro EV and other previous generation Kia/Hyundai vehicles also start at lower speeds, then max out at 77kW whereas the EV6 can hit above 150kW. I have not had my car in the winter, I got it on March 17th, so I have no real cold weather experience yet and I have not done any DCFC yet. Tests to come. - Preheat the cabin: This is a known "issue", but only relates to when you try to heat the car up via the app, or with the scheduled climate settings. I have experienced this, but when I started the car and set the heater to 23C, it blew hot air very quickly. There is a software update (2 actually) and my appointement is set for May 12th. - I have had no issues with my 12V battery and I have an OBD2 adapter in my car 24/7. I have only had my car for a bit over 1 month, so this is all preliminary, but I have seen the orange status light on my dash lith a few times, meaning my car is maintaining the 12V battery. I am not worried about this for now and I have my 12V booster pack in the frunk 😉

Interestingly, I test drove one and ended up upgrading my 19 niro base to a 22 niro premium. Didn’t find it as much of an improvement as a compromise and didn’t find it worth the extra 15k. Hi Andre we also have a 2019 Kia Niro SX Touring and have an EV6 GT option 2 on order. We use a Thule roof box for skis on the Niro mounted on optional Kia accessory roof bars, are there accessory roof bars available to fit on the EV6 with sunroof so one can mount a Thule box? Also is there a pass through in the rear seat arm rest that one could use for longer items like skis and still accommodate two back seat passengers? Will the EV6 accommodate 17” wheels so one can mount 235/65R17 winter tires/rims to add 1.5” to side wall height and lessen the chance of winter wheel curb rash and improve on pothole handling?

Good morning Bob. There are roof rack accessories for the EV6 with sunroof, but they "grab" onto the roof sides and I will not be going for that option since I don't want to risk damaging the paint and finish; I will get a trailer hitch and a small trailer. There is no pass-through in the arm rest, I was a bit disappointed by that. The EV6 will not accept 17" wheels due to the brakes; this is information from Fast Wheels Canada, but 18" do fit. Thank you very much. They say wait list for the EV6 is 2 years, but several people have received them faster than that. It is well worth the wait as the EV6 is an amazing car with excellent technology. Financing is a tough question because the interest rates are currently high. I got mine in March 2022 when the purchase interest rate was 2.99%. If you can afford it and you like the car, then buying it is worth it, in my opinion. I bought mine, not leased.

A couple of things to note. Your model is the UK GT Line S version which comes with the 20inch wheels. These mean the car is less efficient than the GT Line which has the narrower 19inch wheels. I have the RWD GT Line S and the frunk in that is much larger as it does not have accommodate the front motor
@EV-olution2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are correct. The AWD with 20" wheels is only rated for 441km of range, but the frunk in Canada only comes in the small size that I have in my car, even in the RWD version, due to safety laws. Since there is no bonnet release from inside the frunk it has to be too small for a child to fit in it.

I don't really care about the sunroof or the meridian system (which i hear is not the best). HUD could be a nice to have but not a deal breaker, i know it boils down to the interior seats and the V2L capability - what are your thoughts? Thanks for this video btw, this is super informative and played a role in my decision
@EV-olution2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Just an FYI, the Meridian system is excellent once you manually adjust the audio settings instead of using the default Meridian IQ or whatever it is called. Here are the differences - Pack 1 vs Pack 2: - 19" Wheels instead of 20" - Manual door handles, not automatic - No sunroof - 6 speaker sound system instead of Meridian 14 speaker with sub - Missing active sound design - Synthetic leather seats - No HUD - No V2L adapter - No heated rear seats - No cooled front seats - No cargo cover It is difficult for me to offer advice on Pack choice because it is a personal choice. I prefer the fully loaded vehicle for a few reasons, but mainly I want all possible options because I like them and because resale is better when you have a fully loaded version, but that may be totally unimportant to you or others. Therefore I would suggest going down the list of differences and asking yourself if you really want the option or not. I am happy that my videos could help you make your choice.

@@juliajames711 Absolutely. With the EV6 so far what we are seeing as far as issues are the following. - Automatic door handles make creaking noises when folding in/out - The onboard electric heater pump controlling the A/C and heat has failed - Some body/trim pieces may come from the factory unsecured - Most parts for repairs are not even available yet as the vehicle is brand new. Expect a 2-3 month wait if you have an issue and a part needs to be replaced. The good is that there's plenty of EV range although not as much as some other competitors like Tesla. The car is easy to charge and it drives pretty smooth. No general electrical issues so far which is a surprise. We haven't seen many come in for service yet but the overall vibe is that customers seem to like them and we're getting good feedback so far.

Just subscribed and liked! Thank you for the informative video. Just put a down payment on the 2023 EV 6 package 2. I travel 135kms Daily and the cost of gas in Ontario is just too much! I am wondering if you could go over in detail the autonomous driving and steering assist. Also the steering wheel functionality and how it works? I was also wondering if you could go over LEVEL 2 charging. I am very "green" no pun intended to this game, and I am going to have to get an install done. I have a 100 AMP panel and know I will need a larger one. Also possibly a real time winter perspective / KM range? Its lovely and I am looking forward to mine! Thank you again for your informative video!

Thank you for subscribing, I really appreciate it. You are going to love your EV6 and the range is going to be perfect for your needs. I will be making many more videos about the things you are asking about, but I do have older videos that may answer some of your questions 1) Public vs Private, how to charge your EV: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHvXgqF9qMmAatU 2) Electric cars in winter… Any good?: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJbTkqdrbdeaf7M 3) EQ 006 - How do EVs heat the cabin in winter? Kia has listed some for the regular and GT-Line EV6. I will be getting some and making a video about it.

How are you finding the multipurpose touch thing for radio vs climate? I feel like that would annoy me and as you said about taking your eyes off the road for the drive mode on the Niro, I feel like I would be doing it way more to find the rights controls for the radio and/or climate. The Ioniq5 to me has a better set up for this.
@EV-olution2 жыл бұрын
It takes a bit of getting used to, and I would have preferred to be able to feel where the buttons are, but once you get used to it, it is OK. Also to note, since the radio controls are all on the steering wheel, you can leave the touch section on the climate control section, which is what I do 95% of the time.

EV6 has been delivered in Norway since late August 21 and have had it's first serious winter test. Just some comments on the different equipment Don't blame KIA for a useless frunk on AWD, that's importers choice, not KIA, here you only get frunk on the RWD Winter test report on EV6 with studless tyres. The RWD is extremely good on winter conditions, so save your money on a long range RWD EV6 I cancelled my order on EV6 when it was delivered because of the seats, found the seats in e niro better. Again, importers choice.

What is the seat height from the ground? Trying to see how much higher it is than my forte 5. And how much lower than our niro
@EV-olution2 жыл бұрын
The spec from Kia indicates 16cm, or 6.3 inches of ground clearance. It is not SUV height, but not sport car either, kind of a middle ground clearance height.
@haroldbernard35052 жыл бұрын
@@EV-olution thanks for the quick reply. I’m actually looking for the seat height from the ground as opposed to ground clearance. Seeing if I would sit higher than in my forte 5. I assume I would sit lower than in my niro.
@EV-olution2 жыл бұрын
@@haroldbernard3505 ah, got it. I can't say exactly because the seat height can be adjusted from low to high, but it also depends on your torso legnth. Some people put the seat low to have proper headroom, and other set it higher. With that being said, I am about 5'8" tall and with the seat placed as I like it, I can say that it is a seating position that it a bit lower than in my Niro EV, but still comfortable and not as low as in a Model 3.
@haroldbernard35052 жыл бұрын
@@EV-olution thanks, that definitely puts it higher than my forte 5. Just don’t want to crouch that low anymore to get in my car. I get my ev6 some time in 2023 sight unseen. Haven’t seen a single one here in Vancouver

I agree 100%. That is why I am very happy that we have laws in Québec that prevent price gouging like in the US. Greedy dealerships are slowing the adoption of EVs and that is bad for everyone.
