I Have the Kia Niro PHEV and I consistently get better than the 26 miles EV range and have been getting 135 MPG in the last 5 months and 9000 miles I have driven with it. I love my Niro and am totally impressed with all the features it came with that many other PHEV charge way to much to add-on but mine came standard with them all. Could not recommend my car enough to other people. I am pretty sure when I trade this in I will go to the Kia Niro EV.

As always, love your video reviews Bjorn, so natural human presentation. They are long and so detailed, hardly get bored. Great job!! Waiting for Kia Niro EV to arrive in Canada. Looks like Kia hit the sweet spot with this perfect size CUV for a family of 4, not too small (like Kona, may be okay for couples). Cancelled apt. to test drive (regular) Kona before booking for the Kona EV (after seeing your Kona video reviews, had made the apt.) And with 400-500km range in a single charge, it can be the primary family car, even for long distance traveling. And saw your interior review (sleep test :) - that was cool/practical. Looking forward for your next reviews of Niro (charge speed ...).

Excellent real life type driving over distance . It will be good to see the 120kmh test for comparison and also what charging speeds are available on fast charging after running down the battery so far. The Ionic, Kona and the Niro seem to be filling the market space that GM tried to own but it's marketing blunders in Europe seem to have lost it it's lead. The Ampera seems to be almost non existent (in the UK) and the Bolt is nowhere to be seen. In this segment of the market the smart choice is therefore between the Kona and the Nero . Nissan better sit up and take notice also.
@johnnorth93556 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info which is very interesting and pretty much what I was hoping for and this makes it extremely usable as a day to day and holidays car for me - anything over 200 miles is as much as I can tolerate these days in one stint without a comfort break and stop for refreshments so as long as fast charging is not impeded by extreme rapidgate the spec is a good replacement for an ICE as far as I'm concerned.

congratulations on the 100k 11:19 that is averaging speed limit there is one section in that road (Seoul - Yangyang expressway) where the speed is averaged over around 12 km (mostly inside Korea's longest motorway tunnel -> with a length of 11 km) all navigators in Korea do that i.e. indicate average speed, remaining distance, etc. cameras get your plate number upon entrance and exit of the section and if you exceed the speed limit, you get a ticket in the mail. other speed limit enforcers are overhead and roadside instantaneous speed cameras... you can actually go over the speed limit -> as long as there is no camera the navigator tells you that you are overspeeding only when there is a camera nearby

Like with the Hyundai Kona, this Kia Nero EV seems to check all the boxes. Excellent all round and very desirable. Like with the Kona, my only anxiety is about Kia being able to keep up with demand. I sure hope that both these companies get super-organized with huge battery production. With so many other auto makers stalling in this area the South Koreans have a great opportunity right now. By the time the competition get properly going on EVs (maybe 2020...) Kia and Hyundai can have moved a lot of electric cars. They have 2 great cars for mass consumption. Go go go!

@12:14 It's because that feature is specifically built for only that tunnel. I bet that navigation did not show Average Speed until you got into that tunnel. That tunnel has CCTV with License plate capture before entering the tunnel and after exiting tunnel. It calculates the average speed based on time stamp from point of enter to point of exit. And if the average speed is over the limit, they send speeding ticket. Because of that, Korean navigation companies built such function for "point to point speed checking section" to inform/warn drivers what their estimated average speed is.
@StephenHay6 жыл бұрын
Pretty cool to see an outside perspective of Korea. Living here, I take some of this stuff for granted, like the super-detailed and helpful SatNav systems (even the free map apps provide average speed and really detailed images!). Some things are frustrating here, but it's good to see the EV infrastructure getting built up finally. I see lots of Ioniq EV's about, a few Bolts, but haven't seen a Tesla in the wild yet.
@gregandkaruna66746 жыл бұрын
It's the charger limited, it's because the last 5-6% is painfully slow and so they limit it so that hopefully drivers free up the space. It's the same in our country.
