I went from a 2012 5 Series to a 2014 Cadenza SXL. Of course I lost AWD but I'm more happy with my Cadenza.

At what point are we going to stop beating around the bush and just admit that Kia is selling cars worthy of being called luxury/premium? They are a luxury brand at this point no matter how you slice it. They are just not charging people for name recognition and are therefore not as expensive as other premium brands. That doesn't make them not premium though.

Nice review, but I think you are kinda of wrong at 1:53 saying its not a premium brand. Many BMW and Mercedes people are buying KIA cars including myself, being brand conscious would mislead people. It is what is and its a nice car.

krono terria I went from a 2008 5 series that I bought new to an 2016 Optima SXL and I am happier with the Kia. It was also a lot less expensive. It is a very nice car and is most certainly premium and on the level of any similar sized luxury cars. Of course I'm speaking in terms of luxury and driving dynamics not so much power. The Stinger will be the next car I buy and that will be on a level more than worthy of thrashing any luxury brand with a competing car.

I see Kia as more premium than all mainstream cars. Of course Kia technically is mainstream, but cars such as the Optima, Stinger, Cadenza, and K900 are simply amazing.

i had a Kia Optima EX and I loved it. even the 2.4 L was extremely fuel efficient. the only gripe was road noise... man it was loud. besides that very nice

I'm in my 3rd KIA. Great value, quality, warranty and so much for your money. My 1st KIA , a 2004, is still on the road. (Sold it to a friend) There are many great cars out there to choose from but I'm stuck on KIA brand. I have a 2016 Optima.

+DHGroove I used to be a sales for Kia in Canada. I would say, definitely go for the Accord. Less issue in the long term. Kia tends to break in 3 to 4 years.

After going to KIA.com this car being reviewed is a SXL version which is like $35+ not worth it for a KIA.

+Bjorn Ironsides relax!! I drive a Mazda don't surmise. After spending over 35 it doesn't make it worth it, why because the quality of materials are not great for the interior, test drove 2wice. Plus the fully loaded is around 37k and KIA do not have a great resale value. Other than that its a great car with Midrange options not fully, for that price you can get better. BTW new Hondas with cvt's are not great cars. Chill Son.

Again Iron sides you're surmising! I did test drive it 2 times and it is praised as the best M S S.The interior is very industrial looking, especially the dash but has a much better resolution screen display screen than the Mazda I went home with, the KIA comes with tire pressure monitors too, fun to drive, great torque, just pulls, but I went home with the Mazda, because it was a better deal at 32k. The KIA has great features like the pull up shades for the rear window, full sun moon roof, the awesome cross stitched seat but but and but those are only features on the high end model which put you in the 36k+ category model. No man I can't spend that on a KIA.

It's not the initial quality I'm worried about. It's the horror stories I still hear about Hyundai/ Kia with their cars 3-5 years down the road with powertrain, electrical, etc... The cars look great, and it looks like they are generally great value, but I hear of a lot of Hyundai/Kia lemons

We've had my wife's elantra since Aug 2012 and have not had any issues. My brother has had several sonatas and loves them. The only reason he gets a new one is to "keep up with the jones'" wonderful car company. I haven't heard/experienced any horror stories on my end thus far. We shall see. Be well ☺

You won't regret it, if this car was crap, I would be the first one to say so...I

+Johnson Taylor hmm really?.., have you driven any kids lately? Toyota has been around forever.. Look at all the problems they had in recent years...no#2 spot according to JD Powers regarding quality.. Still not sure.. Go test drive the top Model for yourself.. It is Possible to rise to the top without staying at the bottom. It's called evolution. Not trying to be a smart ass, I rarely post comments on YT, bcuz I don't like arguing with people, but I feel strongly about this car, I absolutely love it,It has surpassed many brands, it kills me when people say, they haven't been around long enough "., they have, they started at the bottom, and they have improved, reliability and quality is there, I can't speak on the base model, I've only driven the top Model, and seeing this, looks like I'll be trading up, Good luck in your decision,

+Autos Fan My family has been driving all sorts of Korean cars for 5+ years now. Never had any electrical or power train issues. Just regular wear and tear items. Not to say those issues don't exist, but personally we've had amazing experiences.

I did a comment on the hyundai sonata in another video about how my uncle, a hyundai mechanic at a dealer, would never recomment a hyundai.his son, my cuz, worked for the same company as a salesman at the kia store. He quit because he did not feel good about selling the kia's. He says they are crap cars in the long run and drive like shit and he would often try to switch people to other cars. He says to just go to a Kia or Hyundai dealer and you will notice that almost none and possibly NONE of the sales people or mechanics drive Kias, nobody at his store did. I think that says something.

+infamousnachi As if the Germans don't take ideas from other manufacturers. Who created the surround-view camera? Nissan...Now EVERY manufacturer in some iteration uses it. Audi started the L.E.D. craze, now everybody has done it, Ford created the foot-waving trunk opener.... so a similar looking dash is not a big deal, and to me it doesn't look like a BMW interior, so that's subjective.

+chigasaki06 Don't know about the particular case of the surround-view camera, but in general it's the major suppliers who create this stuff - TRW, Delphi, Valeo, ContiTech, that bunch.

+chigasaki06 taking tech is different. There's no other way to create a surround view camera. There's a million ways to design interiors. It's lazy to copy when u can design it differently. So get smarter and add some nuance to your argument.

infamousnachi Like I said, it's subjective. To sound smarter, add more detail to your argument. You argue that they copied BMW without stating HOW. How did they copy BMW? What BMW model does this interior replicate? To me, it doesn't look like a BMW interior. In fact, the interior is reminiscent of Saab; particularly the way it slightly curves towards to the driver. Also, when a German heads the design department, there's bound to be some German influences in Kia's design...so who cares? In fact, it looks a little more upmarket compared to a BMW, b/c bimmers tend to have very boring interiors. I don't get why people get their panties in a bunch when down-market manufacturers "copy" the Germans, but when the Germans copy each other, some people don't care. If you want a true copy, look at BMW's X6 and the Mercedes GLE coupe.

You're just in denial! or purposefully using 'subjectivity' to mask the obvious. Before they just out right copied, now I see them copying parts of the design from various manufacturers and creating something thats 'seems' different to the avg consumer.
