Kia Sportage 2022 GT-Line review | Australia

In this video, Amelia reviews the 2022 Kia Sportage with a petrol engine and in it’s top GT-Line trim. This officially is now the fifth generation of the Sportage and is probably one of the most iconic cars we associate with the KIA brand and it’s KIAs number one selling vehicle globally.
The latest Kia Sportage comes with 3 Engine choices and 4 different transmission options. It’s important you choose the right one to match your driving expectations.
The Sportage in our video has a 1.6 L turbo petrol engine that produces 132 kW of power and 265 Nm of torque. It’s paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission is AWD and sips an average of 7.2 liters of fuel combined.
Driveaway pricing for the Sportage starts at just under 35k for a manual in the bottom S trim.
This turbo petrol in the top trim GT line will cost $51,990 driveaway. While the top trim diesel GT-line costs $54,990.
The Kia Sportage competitors include the Hyundai Tucson, Toyota RAV 4, Mazda CX-5, Subaru Forester, and the Nissan X-Trail.

We look at 5 similar cars today and own a Rav4 so that was also in the running. However, we signed for the Sportage gt line hybrid. Kids loved the "ipad holders" lol 😂 But I loved the blind spot cameras when indicating. This is good for merging and overtaking on highways it's great. The tech in this blew all the others out of the water.

@@boy23q I ordered mine in Feb 2022in WA, snow pearl white GT petrol. I was lucky in that 2 people before me pulled out of their order (ordered same as me) so I bumped up the line. I know if I ordered the Disel or forrest green I would be still waiting

I absolutely love it. Was sad to let go of my Optima today but after 30mins in the Sportage I love it. Just need to figure out everything it does. Fingers crossed yours arrives soon

It’s interesting how different these Australian and US versions of this car are from the European versions. All our variants except one are Hybrids with varying degrees of electrical assistance - some of these engine choices simply are not available over here. Have to say, I much prefer our engine variants to the ones offered with the long-wheelbase version of the car.

If anyone wants an update the top gt line diesel has a cool feature where it can drive its self into and out of car parks with you standing next to it out of the car 😱 It was so cool to watch. However we went the hybrid which has the same stat's as the diesel

I've placed an order for a diesel GT-Line, due about March 2023, notwithstanding its awful looks. We are paying extra for all those unnecessary design flourishes. VW Tiguan is the nicest looking SUV, and that has minimal design flourishes, flounces & creases. The three selling points for me were the full-size spare, the exceptional 360 degree camera system, and the extending sun visors (which should be mandatory). Mike Taylor

Diesel stinks and is not the ideal motor for this car's primary intended (or actual) usage. The sooner that diesel is legislated out of the passenger vehicle segment (and people stop using commercial vehicles as passenger vehicles) the better. Bring on the electric revolution (of which Kia/Hyundai will be at the forefront in the VERY near future).

Kia are rubbish! I unfortunately have one, it's been using coolant since day one and requires top ups between services. The scumbags at Kia say there is no problem with the vehicle even though I caught them putting head gasket additive in the cooling system! My next car will be a Tesla I do not want anything further to do with Legacy car makers or Stealerships........
