Kia Stinger hatch rattle fix

The annoying trunk rattle is finally gone! I had Kia's fix and it did not permanently solve the issue. THANK YOU!!!

Wellllll right, now my trunk doesn't close even after reverting that fix :D It just does a beeeeeeeeeeep....

I used just metal washers and the hatch made a VERY loud noise when the latch released while opening. Removed the washers. Might try rubber washers - I think there's a very small tolerance for washer thickness. I've adjusted the screw-out plastic spacers. Tip - if using the zip tie on the plastic spacer - go with black so it's not as noticeable.

Thanks! It's worth a try. I just had mine in for service, and while the rattle is driving me absolutely nuts, the tech said "nothing abnormal regarding the hatch--just normal squeaks--no action needed." They had previously installed the "fix," before my car actually developed the rattle at all. Now that it has it, they won't touch it. Lame. This looks promising. Will tackle this weekend. Question: does this video not have sound?

"Just normal squeaks." That pisses me off. Nowadays, squeaks are very well controlled in most cars and are therefore not normal. I get the fact that cars are the sum of thousands of parts, but in some cases like this hatch rattle, this is a little absurd to be considered normal.

Personally, I would use something like weatherstrip adhesive or similar on that adjustable stop screw. A black zip tie would look better, but none would look best. Possibly even that mat material along with an adhesive above the visible length. I hate visible mods and there are always ways to make them inconspicuous.

do you just do the upper hatch back or the lower as well on the car itself

This is wayyyyy too much. I added 4 rubber washers and the noises are gone. 😂

Did you just add the 4 rubber washers and remove the metal ones? Or you just add the rubber washers to the metal ones?
