Nursing is such an amazing profession because there are so many avenues to choose from. You can go from the hospital to specialized practice offices, different specialty areas, and even continue your education to be an advanced practice nurse or nurse practitioner. I graduate in two weeks and I’m so excited to start this career! Good luck in applying! You would be an awesome nurse!

Honestly, so happy to hear that you are moving back home. I’m doing the same thing at the end of May to move back into my aunts basement for the same reason- finances. I was always worried about it considering I’ve been on my own (dorms and apartments) for like 5 years now and honestly how it would look being 22 moving back but I know it’s what I need to do. It’s just comforting to know someone my age is doing the same thing!

Love your channel! Many years ago I was in the same boat as you. I was rejected from all the nursing schools I applied to near my hometown. I eventually made the choice to move 5 hours away to a small town where I got accepted and while it was very scary to leave, it ended up being the best decision of my life. 2 years away from my family and friends just feels like a small thing to me now and I'm so grateful I didn't delay becoming a nurse any longer. Nursing is a great career and as someone who trains a lot of new nurses I can tell you will be an amazing nurse! Good luck!

I moved back in with my parents after living on my own/in a shared apartment for 3,5 years because I switched my major and wasn't applicable for student loans in Germany anymore. I didn't want to work my butt of to live on my own while my parents lived super close to my university, it just didn't make any sense. Also very much more happy back with my parents than I was in the shared apartment, because my roommates and I didn't really get along anymore at all!

There is nothing wrong with moving back home!!! I moved home to commute for my last semester of college and my first year and a half after I graduated. Financially it's smart, and if you've got a great relationship, totally worth taking advantage of it!

I chose to go into Occupational Therapy because of the different opportunities OT can bring to the table. Being able to focus on helping people of all ages return to their ADLs and the research opportunities that is within the field sold me. I did a lot of observing before I chose OT over PT, PA, Speech Path, etc. I just really enjoyed how personal and flexible OT can be when it comes to specialties..I may even consider being a clinical instructor one day!!

I recently just got into nursing school for fall 2021 and my reason for going into nursing was obviously wanting to help/care for people and be a part of their healthcare experience. I really want to be the nurse they remember giving them the best care possible. I want my patients and their families to know that I got them and they don’t have to worry about anything because I’m doing everything I can to help them. Also like you I love the ability for nurses to work in different units and different areas of nursing. You can really do so many things with a nursing degree which I love! so excited to start and can’t wait to watch your journey! ❤️

This might be a long comment (lol Im sorry!) but I hope this helps! My mom is 53 and is a hospice nurse. She is currently back in school to get her RN (she has her LVN). When she first went to college when she was 18 she was a business major and ended up leaving after 2 years and finished her associates in business at another school after she moved home. She lived in Detroit for about 5 years doing business work at a generic company before moving out to the Bay Area to work at AT&T. After she met my dad and had me she became a full-time stay-at-home mom. When she had my little sister 4 years after me she decided she wanted to get into nursing. After my uncle passed from cancer when I was in the 8th grade it really motivated her to finish her LVN. She has been working in the nursing field since then and went back to get her LVN and now RN when she was in her 40/50s. Take all the time you need, it is 100% possible to go into nursing at any age in life and be super successful and rewarding. You're doing great and you are such a ray of positivity during these really hard times
@lauraphillips11353 жыл бұрын
I'm a PA student right now and I chose this path because I knew I wanted to be a provider, but I wouldn't want to commit to one specialty. My background is in public health so going the nursing route was considered, but PA was faster and my personal preference was to be trained under the medical model as opposed to the nursing model. Both are great, but the medical model was more my style. I also knew I wanted to take on a role where I could move around within the medical field based on where the needs of the healthcare system are and PA school really trains you to do that. Naturally I also get asked a lot "why not med school?" and it bothers me at times too! All that matters is that we're happy where we are at and I'm so excited for you to continue on the nursing journey!

I wanted to pursue medical school because I absolutely love learning (i actually AM excited to stay in school for another 4 years before residency LOL!) and I am extremely passionate learning about the pathogenesis of a disease in a person and teaching it to them in a way that they understand, while building a long term patient relationship! I really want to help the medical science communication barrier and I think by becoming a doctor (specifically an Immunologist or pathologist for me) will allow me to contribute to that. THAT BEING SAID - you are sooooo right in the sense that not everyone should go into this path just because they like medicine! I’ve had to take the MCAT TWICE (which is so expensive sos) and i’m taking it for the third time this summer.... which is just so stressful and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone! I’m also in Canada (with some family in America) and truly love our health system, so that helps drive my passion. Doctors here seem to love their job much more than doctors in the US so I’ve heard?? But anyways, I’m super exited to see your CNA/nursing school journey, and every study/exam video you post keeps me SO motivated!! Love you Kiara!

I decided to go into nursing for a few different reasons. My grandma was chronically ill my entire life and I felt a sense of powerlessness in the fact that I couldn't do anything to help her. I also started working in an assisted living facility when I was 17 and that experience inspired me to go into the profession. Fast forward almost 10 years later (I'm turning 27 next month) and here I am having just passed the NCLEX last week! To finally call myself a Registered Nurse is the best feeling in the world! I have no doubt that you're going to make an amazing nurse and I can't wait to follow along to your journey through nursing school! Also, I started my accelerated program at 25 and there were SO many people who were in their 30s, 40s, and even 50s who decided to go back to school. It's NEVER too late to go back!

IT IS SO ANNOYING! I'm going into dentistry because I have a passion for it! I love learning about oral health and helping others smile! Similar to you, I just ignore it! Not really medical field, but I’m working towards my PhD in Applied Neuroscience atm. I’m on the research track but was strongly considering clinical for a few years. Everyone around me told me I’d be a pretty good clinician but that as a result I would probably burn out in two to three years because of how hard it might be to separate work from home life. So I chose the research track bc I can still work with people I want to help and the risk of burnout decreases significantly.

There is so much uncertainty that I'm just running with what I have.

I'm soooo excited for this summer because all of my friends and I will be vaccinated and things will ~hopefully~ be getting back to normal! I'm staying in my college town for my last summer before I graduate next May and working my first full-time corporate internship :))

I had to pause and write this, last time with the assumptions video I was waiting for the question about your channel not growing and your answer made me realise that I've never seen you as just a youtuber, but more of a big sister figure. I really trust your judgment and words and I honestly feel connected to you somehow. You make us feel like we're actually a part of your life, that's why not many people watch the life update videos but I WAIT for them because its like yes kiara, what new? I wanna know! I guess what I'm tryna say is that you're amazing and I love you so much even if we'll never meet!

okay wow this comment just filled me up with so much love & I appreciate it! I feel so lucky to be able to connect with you guys on a more personal level and truly share my genuine thought with you all! Thanks for being a real one & leaving the best comment. Hope everything in your life is going well 😊

The plan last year was to leave my crappy job and work in my field. Then we all know what happened and I lost that job anyway. At this point the plan is financial survival and I'm not even looking beyond the basics. I don't have family to move in with, on the contrary I actually help financially support family. So summer will be no fun and all adulting.

In israel school is not so very expensive, at least university , and all medical fields are learned in university's and not college. I studiet physical therapy and i really chose it because i wanted more hands on the patient, time to get to know his soul.. and the ability to go through a full hands on rehabilitation journey with him.

The answer to your question about our opinion on medical related college is...I am in dental college now but I wanted to join medical college or architecture which are 2 very things but which were my primary preferences but I couldn't get in them and I didn't wanted to take a gap year hence I joined dental college cuz it was my next preference...now I love it ..I wouldn't change it at all if given the chance to go to medical or architecture college...yes I love dentistry cuz it's a beautiful mixture of medicine and art I think....and I can have a better flexibility in my life in future...so here's my opinion and story .. And I really understand your need to be more hands-on with patients and doing what we love even though what others opinion are about it... Hope you get admission in your favourite nursing school❤️ *fingers crossed.... God this is a long rant... Have a good day ❤️
