Kichisen has been awarded three Michelin Stars multiple times since 2014 and is located next to Shimogamo Shrine, a world cultural heritage site. It is said to be the only restaurant in the world that is close to a world heritage site.
The owner Mr. Yoshimi Tanikawa is a famous chef who appeared on the popular TV show "Iron Chef," a cooking battle program that took the world by storm. In addition to the excellent scenery, he uses ingredients procured from around Japan for the courses. The courses prepared are not only about the taste, but filled with his whole spirit; reflected in everything from the plating to the hospitality of the restaurant.
