I read in a recent Sheryl Crow interview that Tchad Blake was going through cancer treatment a year or two ago for head and neck cancer -- I'd imagine that had something to do with how his voice has changed. I'm very grateful he's alive and continuing to make a lot of music that inspires me -- and sharing his knowledge.

Loves The Last Shadow Puppets since I discovered them in 2012, as a practiced audio engineer now it is absolutely incredible to gain some insight into the mixing end of their music. And Mr. Blake seems like a great, knowledgeable guy.

I like the kick lower than the bass too but I also like to raise and shelf the lows and highs on the parallel compressed track and roll off anything below 40hz cause that’s just mud. Anything below 50-60hz most people won’t hear unless they’ve got a subwoofer. My bass guitar sits at around 80 - 215 hz but you’ve got to be careful. Around 80 is where you make those cuts for a kick to sit in.
