My first day on Kicking Horse Pass, I was staying in Field and decided to focus on points west, as far as Donald on CP's Mountain Subdivision. Traffic was consistent all day. About a train every 30 minutes.

I was brought here while looking for a video on the Field Bunkhouse. I use to drive CP crews from Golden to Field and would love eating at the Bunkhouse. Damn they had good hamburgers 24hrs a day.

Excellent quality and brilliant framing. CP and the Rockies....my favourite international railroad. :) (I'm an Aussie).

Bruce Kennewell thanks Bruce! I'm Aussie too (Perth). Norfolk Southern is my favorite North American railroad, but the Rockies has been on my list for close to 15 years now. Makes CP look exciting!

This makes me miss hauling out of Golden. I'd get to see all the coal trains heading past Spilimacheen and I'd always wave.

We used to get sun kinks so bad on this section of track that many a shift parked waiting out the heat and leaving in a cab to Field

The scenery is so beautiful and the rivers look so clean and the water is a wonderful color. I bet it would be a trip of a live time to ride a passenger trail the full length of this rail system. Question: I was wondering if they had to make the tunnels wider and higher so the moder trains could pass th rough them? Thanks for an outstanding video. (Mississippi gulf Coast, USA).
@petenielsen3453 Жыл бұрын
The majority of the tunnels where high enough after they got the low slung well cars, before that they started with flat deck cars, so only one container at a time. The color of the water comes from the dirt and silt that is in the melt water from the glaciers.

I am just amazed and fascinated how much weight these machines can move as I am how an airplane, Jet or Rocket gets off the ground.

Nice video. That last location had me kind of confused based on the description. I think that's actually the crossing at Beaverfoot Rd. between Leanchoil and Palliser.
@pitrow666 жыл бұрын
yes just east of Leanchoil. I shot 2816 in 2001 when it came thru in Sept of that year. First time steam in Rockies in many years i was told.

Each container on that freight train is one less truck on our highways.
