Nice review. The reduced current draw is not a saving money concern when it comes to the draw on the electrical service. It it would be very minimum as the voltage is already being stepped down to 24DC. You would likely see less than you would have on a large outdoor light fixture. Where the lower current draw is saving is reduced battery demands, less voltage drop from higher current, therefore smaller conductors which means smaller pipe as your pipe fill will be a lesser and in large cases less NAC booster panels will be needed. That is where you see significant cost savings. if you were to do some calculations a building with say 100 devices at the average milliamp draw of 50 MA xenon horn strobes. That gives you 5 A at 24 V now you can roughly calculate that gives you a step down of five times which also takes your current down to 1 amp on the primary side. That equals 120 W that gives a average cost of $.23 per hour that is $5.52 per day for 100 devices that is in CAD so you would see a lesser amount converted to USD.

That is exactly right and on point. These devices, just like the newer generation of exceeders and such, pay themselves off in installation costs, and continue to do so by requiring less apparatus. Not only that, but it also means much more by reducing the amount of NACs themselves which is extremely useful if you have an open NAC line for whatever reason and need to investigate. I like these LED devices more than the xenons for that reason, and we switched entirely to EST devices last year for installations because of how good EST has become.
@tronicsterspeaker99467 ай бұрын
nic does that mean that you can have moredevices on a nac if the draw less current?

Many things I want to point out of this device and other stuff 01:58 Other LED fire alarms do have an updated strobe coverage range even if it has one LED light like the System Sensor LED L-series which does say that all LED fire alarms have better strobe coverage than Xenon strobes due to the modified strobe reflector and magnifier designs 02:52 What makes it more effective during a new install or expansion is that it reduced the amount of NAC power supplies saving you money on NAC power supplies in order to have the NAC functional as it should because a NAC power supply branches the NAC from the panel into new NACS and repeats the circuit to prevent any voltage drops when all the current is being consumed by the alarms more than the system can generate that can be repeated to create even more branches of NACS 04:43 It's kinda useless for Edwards to make horn only ceiling mount devices as that's just a waste of manufacturing materials as the EST G4ARF or G4AWF (double gang sized wall mount remote horn) should be manufactured instead because they use no strobes and would work with other wall mount horn only models on ceilings and vice versa because the sound will output in the same direction 05:46 On Xenon EST Genesis devices you had to cut a jumper to set the horn to continuous or lower the volume by 5 dB unless if it's an EST Integrity which can be done many times using jumpers that you can move around but both of these are really hard to do 06:56 It does have another volume level but in reverbarant areas (low volume is 80 dB and high volume is 85 dB) where's in anechoic areas it's 86 dB on low and 92 dB on high which is counterintuitive because sounds in reverbarant areas tend to be louder in anehoic areas but it's not because it's a high frequency sound and has shorter wavelengths which can easily create a simulated volume drop due to the reflected sound wave created from hitting a wall (because high sound frequencies reflect off of wall more easily than low sound frequencies) creating a different phase of the sound wave that interferes with the main sound wave causing a simulated volume drop because the reflected sound wave is slightly out of phase and also the sound this alarm makes by the way is an amplitude sweep sound with a carrier frequency of 3.2 Khz with a modulation rate of 50 Hz (40 Hz for Xenon models) down to 0% Amplitude, however with some other fire alarms that shows it in the data sheet and install manual that's a newer alarm made by the same company like the System Sensor L-Series, the manual and data sheet shows that it has only one volume level for all spaces which 90 dB for high volume and 84 dB for low volume (6 dB range) which means that they've improved the sound from the SpectrAlert Advance as it does show volume levels for reverbarant and anehoic spaces and they've must've done it by having the peak amplitudes be a high pressure wave to have anti-reverbarant distortion, the peak frequency of the L-Series is 100 Hz lower than the Advance is the L-Series is around 3,050 Hz as it does have the same frequency sweep range and modulation rate and carrier frequency however the overtones and undertones are slightly improved to make it more buzzing and there's no slight static sound with slight volume variation of the peak volume which all done to remove the reverbarant distortion from the L-Series that makes sound lower in volume in a reverbarant area and if you want to know the audio synthesis of these alarms watch this video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hna3aaapebeUhKs 07:39 Plese be prepared for the loud jumpscare as you should turn your volume down 5 seconds before this part 08:08 All LED fire alarms should work on FWR power like the LED L-series as it shouldn't fry the device as I heard many criticism about that the LED L-series won't work on FWR because it's not listed in the manual or data sheet but it will work because of many UL electrical tests for it to work on FWR just like with other System Sensor fire alarms but I think why probably the FWR listings are not there is because on FWR it will consume the same current as Filtered DC 08:25 The reason why the LED EST Genesis devices don't come with a mounting bracket for wiring is that they're sold separately in order to make money due to their business model which is just like Apple as they sold their products separately in order to make money because they're greedy which is another reason to not like EST 10:13 Testing the alarm on code-3 please turn your volume down again 5 seconds before this part 10:23 And yet again but on continuous 10:30 And yes there was a sound difference between the LED EST Genesis horn strobe and the Xenon EST Genesis horn strobe as they both use the same exact carrier frequency that's 3.2 Khz and does an amplitude sweep down to 0% however the modulation rate of LED device is 50 Hz and the Xenon device is 40 Hz and also that the sound level in an anehoic room for Xenon models are 92 dB on low volume and 97 dB on high volume and for LED models are 92 dB on high volume and 86 dB on low volume which is likely done to improve power consumption or to also make sure that multiple devices placed 10 feet of each other on high volume only reach 100 dB where's the Xenon ones reach 110 dB which is good as they're still loud to get your attention and make you leave the building but not 110 dB where the sound level is so loud that it can hurt your ears very quickly while this level of 100 dB will hurt your ears but not very quickly than 110 dB as it appears that there must've been a new code established that the alarms should not exceed 100 dB because any level higher than that is very dangerous for your hearing which is why many fire alarms from 2007-2017 have like the Xenon EST Genesis or the System Sensor SpectrAlert Advance have been criticized for being too loud at 100 dB and too many of them per 10 feet makes it's 110 dB as that's ridiculously loud but thankfully it's now improved and fixed where many fire alarms on high volume only reach 90 dB and only cap to 100 dB when they're spaced apart per 10 feet and it should be unless if it's an outdoor model as the high volume setting should be 100 dB so it's heard at an extremely long distance Sources: 1. 01:58 Data sheets and install manuals and common knowledge about strobe coverage ranges 2. 02:52 Data sheets and install manuals and common knowledge about fire alarm panels output in amps and the alarm's current draw 3. 04:43 Common knowledge about horn only models 4.
