Some ppl don't understand forgiveness. It's not exactly for the criminals.... it's more to give yourself peace!
@katharina...10 ай бұрын
Most people don't understand it. And even those of us who do understand it get confused by it sometimes. It's a very, very difficult concept. When I forgive, I open my heart right back, which opens me to being taken advantage of again and again. It's not easy to stay openhearted and distant or unavailable at the same time. It takes many years of practice for most of us. Lack of forgiveness has a protective, sometimes life saving aspect to it.
@liliannjq700610 ай бұрын
@@katharina... There is a difference between forgiveness and trust. You forgive them and you forgive yourself, for yourself, through showing empathy and an understanding of where they were coming from and why you fell for it. People hurt others from a place of hurt. That doesn't mean you give them your trust again nor that you don't take the lessons to heart and recognize the red flags the next time they show up. You can show empathy while reserving trust. Forgiveness is not for them, it's to ensure you get rid of the darkness inside you they caused that may fester if left as is.
@katharina...10 ай бұрын
@@liliannjq7006You can't take the person you are forgiving out of the equation. If you only consider yourself in this act, it's not forgiveness you are giving. You are simply letting go. Forgiveness is much more powerful and much more complex than that.

I can say from my own personal experience of such a Traumatic situation it destroys EVERYTHING! It destroys the family, it destroys you not only as a child but as an adult and a parent! I was sexualy abused repeatedly by at least 7 grown men. I acted out sexualy at a very young age. I got involved with drugs and alcohol. I became a mother at just 13 years old. I had 3 girls and a boy. They saved my life in so many ways. I was a hypervigalant parent. Raised my kids all by myself. I was alcohol and drug free raising my kids. I thought my stopping drinking and drugs was doing the right thing for my kid's. I didn't realize not letting them alone with friends, or not letting them spend nights out with their friends, or walk to the store by themselves at 14 or 15. These things are a normal part of growing up. But in my mind I had to protect them at all cost. This didn't help my kids it hurt them. It took me a long time to see that my protecting them was hurting them. In my late 30s early 40s I sought out one of the men who violated me. He was old and small and hideous to look at. He had a scar from his mouth all the way down his body below his belt line. He suffered too. His poison effected his life horribly. I asked him if he knew why I sought him out? He said no. I said really? And he responded well that stuff you lied about? I told him I was the one person he couldn't do that to. I was there and I remember everything! What he did poisoned me it poisoned my life! But I wasn't going to let it go on anymore! I forgave him and walked away. The freedom I gained words can't describe! My life has gotten better. My relationship with my kids have gotten better. Sometimes you truly have to just let go of old trauma so you can move forward freed of your past!

@ 1:21:00 that was a compelling and moving statement. I can relate but my drunken moment started at 13 and well into my twenties. Extreme childhood trauma has no place in humanity. An adult can often spend way too much precious time in recovery. I was happy to see all these children made it out alive.

A kidnap victim can get a restraining order against the person accused of orchestrating the kidnapping which would prevent that person from contacting the person by phone or mail, or more charges could be added for violating the restraining order.

Why do people open the door? Never, ever, ever open your door! EVER!!!!!! If you don’t know them, They should NOT be at your door!!!!!!!!!
@hollyhope722710 ай бұрын
I am German. Here it is absolutely impossible to think that way. We hardly ever have cameras and systems like that. When sb rings the bell you open the door. But sure, we let nobody in we do not know. But in case...that won't help. But times change here too because of all the criminals they let in our country. Instead of sending the criminals back... we pay their food, the prison, the wothless therapy... We germans are all so sick of these politics, these corrupt manovers.

@@hollyhope7227 Thats in all of Western Europe i'd say (Belgium, Netherlands, France) that we also open the door more easily. (I think Sweden is also more open).

@@kenn_foxx5563 Yes, this is correct. We need political, social and educational changes WORLDWIDE. Education seems to be the only working key to prevent us from degenerating more, getting more criminal minds in our societys. And sure, CONSEQUENCES for people who harm the society in any way on purpose. We need a real CHANGE to prevent us from falling down even deeper.

The police should have kept the finding of the children a secret for a day or so to see if the criminal returned to check on them
