When I watched the video of him leading the mom and baby out of there, my first thought was, I wish she had ran. I wish they had all fought this coward with all their might and never got into that truck. I think there are some lessons in self-defense that can be taken away from this horrible tragedy.

Something is way off here... First, the way the victim interacted with suspect says volumes. You don't let a transient walk onto your property and not challenge them. Suspect walked up wearing gloves, a hoodie, a mask and carrying a trash bag. Victim turned his back to the suspect almost immediately after meeting him and walked in from of him in a completely relaxed manner. They knew each other. Secondly, a hardened felon like the suspect is not going to kill himself, simply because he thinks he is about to be caught. The question we need to ask is what did the suspect fear more than the cops and death? Perhaps it was what his employer would do to him and/or his family, when they found out he did something stupid, like using the victims ATM cards and getting caught in the process. The victims were in the transportation business and its common knowledge that drug trafficking organizations utilizes many of these small family-owned trucking companies to move drugs and/or cash up and down the I-5 corridor. I suspect somebody messed up (e.g., one too many loads seized or light deliveries) and they wanted to set an example. Whatever the case may be, this wasn't a simple robbery. Because you don't murder 4 people (especially a baby) just to commit a simple robbery.

My girlfriend is slender and petite with weak arm strength... they were able to match her with a powerful yet lightweight Glock. IMPORTANT: Don't know which state you are in, but enroll in a licensed Handgun Safety Course - whether or not your state requires you to take said course or not to secure the handgun registration, so that you learn the "right stuff to avoid wrong stuff happening" while discharging/handling the deadly weapon.

That video shown yesterday was a death march, and it was insanity that the mother didn't flee when she had 6 minutes alone while he transported the other two murder victims in the truck. Unless there was another attacker, the mother should have fled, even if he threatened to kill the other two, or called the police, anything other than waiting to be kidnapped and murdered.
