Thank you SO, SO, much. A lumbar vertebrae MRI found the cysts and secondary to my back problem, I was worried about the cysts. I had a total hysterectomy at age 29 for cervical cancer, so of course I worry about any kind of cancer coming back. You really put my mind to rest.

When people are healthy doctors go out of their way to remove 1 single cyst. But for people with polycystic kidneys having 1 or 2 cyst removed would be a dream come true that never happens. It feels like with this condition doctors simply cannot be bothered as the cysts will eventually grow back. Even though an operation would give a patient 2-3 years of a normal live again. Not looking like a freak, being able to go outside, having a normal job .... it is beyond comprehension.

Woow, I had a CT and an ultrasound and also found a cyst on my liver anyway. I'm having a 2nd. Imaging in 6 months on my kidneys. Well, Dr. Thanks for clearing that up for me I'll be more cautious. 👍

Sadly your video only addresses the "common" renal cyst, i.e., the simple renal cyst. My husband was just diagnosed with Comples Renal Cyst, which is not as common. Can you address that for us please.

I had an ultra sound for my heartburn. They said my left kidney was enlarged. So had an e-ray, then another e-ray. Then the doctor said, probably a cist. So now going for a dye test, with and e-ray. I hope it's just a cysts. Great vidio. doc.

I just had a CT scan this past Friday for a dull ache in my upper right abdomen. They found nothing abnormal except a 13mm cyst which I am assuming is benign. Thanks for your video.

I am 38 and have renel cyst in my right kidney. My urologist asked for the follow up in 6 months. I am now having some pain in my right kidney area. Spoke to my Urologist and he said pain is not linked to my kidney cyst and that I should consult my GP. I am not sure what to do, cuz my GP will just ask me to take some over the counter pain killer. No fever or chills though....Any suggestions???

+Farhee Tiwana I am 39 years old and I was diagnosed with a 1 cm simple cyst on my right kidney a few years ago. I get an ultrasound once a year to keep an eye on it. The cyst has grown to 2 cm which is still considered small. My urologist was not concerned at all about it, in fact he said he has one that is twice the size and he isn't concerned about his kidney cyst either. But several months ago I started getting intermittent pain on my right side (the same side where the cyst is) so I got a little worried. My GP ordered another ultrasound, and it was found that the cyst has not gotten any bigger and does not appear to be the cause of the annoying pain in my right side. After a lot of searching on the internet I came to the conclusion (and my GP agreed) that the pain is most likely caused by a condition called Costochondritis, which is an inflammation of the cartilage. It is a pretty common ailment, in fact my GP says he has an area on his side of reoccurring Costochondritis. Mine comes and goes as well. Mine actually went away for a few months and then came back. The pain comes and goes which can happen with Costochondritis, and it can vary in its severity and it can occur in other areas such as the back, the shoulders, left side and chest. Some people have had it so bad in their chest that they think they are having a heart attack and go to the hospital where they are diagnosed with Costochondritis. Mine moves around to some degree from my chest and back but it is usually localized on my right side near the bottom of my ribcage. I hope this helps in some way. If you haven’t heard of Costochondritis, I suggest you research it to see if it sounds like what you are experiencing and speak with your doctor about it. If you have a bad cough that can sometimes cause the inflammation to occur, but apparently nobody knows for sure why Costochondritis occurs (unless you’ve had a previous injury to the affected area or an infection), so it is usually managed with pain relievers and it is not considered a serious condition unless the pain becomes severe.

monkey wrench hi I'm 22 and I have simple cysts on my left kidney after I had a chest ct scan. I too was diagnosed with costo! But mine was associated with my back/spine that was not aligned. I'm being treated by the physiotherapist and I'm almost healed. Maybe it can be a back problem as your back is getting weak it lets the front of your ribs do the work and hold your posture but really it shouldn't as your front ribs are so delicate they can get easily inflamed.

Whats the difference between a renal/kidney cyst and a renal/kidney benign tumor(1 cm)? I have been diagnosed as having a renal benign tumor (1cm) in both kidneys and a fatty liver 5cm larger than normal - I notice I have pain in the back just under the ribs (mainly the right - what may be causing the pain? Also, my urine has had a consistent smell that is not the same as normal, but no infection found with the urine test - what might be causing that smell with the medium to light coloured urine? (PS I do have a cyst on my liver)

Im 23 and did an abdominal ultrasound for my stomach and found out i had a tiny one on my small right kidney. All these doctors saying its nothing to worry about but how cant i? What if it grows or gets worse? Im upset because like the other 23 year old i dont smoke or drink and am in good shape. My blood test and urine test came back fine just lacking vitamin d. I was just told after a full body MRI that I have spots on liver and kidney. Radiologist they are cysts and not cancerous . I have been in so much pain...Still makes me wonder why...I am 64 and had a complete hysterectomy quite a while ago. ???
