I went in for my yearly physical & found out I was in stage 3 kidney failure & that I have about 15 years left. I had NO IDEA!!! They retested me after a month of drinking lots of water and no longer taking Excedrin Migraine. My numbers went down and I was out of kidney failure by one point. I started getting the symptoms you describe years ago. I TOLD my doctor about them and he blew it off. I gained a lot of weight, then lost 60 pounds in a month without trying. The doctor said “tell me how you did this. I need to lose weight, too!”. While he was on vacation, his replacement told me I had diabetes. The regular doctor NEVER tested my blood sugar! I’m stage 3 CKD now. The “old” doctor retired before I found out. I C went to a nephrologist and now HE is blowing it off like I have nothing to worry about. They all failed me. Even if someone listens now and tells me what I need to do to live a few years longer, it’s too late. Start keeping an eye on yourself young, don’t think doctors know what they’re doing for you, they don’t. Lay off salt and processed foods. Watch KZbin. You’ll get better information.

It is not too late. Do your research and study the foods that can help you with your kidneys. Im sorry this happened to you but this is dangerous and terrible advice. If anyone feels like their doctor is irresponsible they should get a new primary care provider and also seek second or third or fourth opinions. I do my own research and if my doctor doesn’t acknowledge it then I know they don’t do their job bc patient education is something a good medical student learns next to good bedside manners.

@@aarbar6615 that’s terrible, I’m sorry you experienced that. Every one should have decent healthcare wherever they are. That said, I’d take a 15 hour wait if it gave me what I needed for peace of mind about my body/health. I strongly agree with Joanna! This was a thorough yet simple & detailed explanation of kidney disease! For me, it was presented in language that I could understand. My doctors attribute my case to the contrast used during diagnostic imaging for a colon cancer diagnosis 5 years ago. That contrast is quite toxic to the kidneys. My lab work has revealed a stage of kidney disease between 3 & 4. So now I’m on a strict, ‘No Sugar Added’ diet in the hopes of stopping it in its tracks. I’ve heard that Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) can’t be improved or cured but it can be stopped from progressing. Thank you for your informative video.

You complain of itchy skin, borderline diabetes and right sided pain? Right quadrant pain along with those other symptoms may indicate a liver issue. I am NOT a medical professional but had all of your symptoms and was subsequently diagnosed with deranged liver enzymes. There is also a link between liver disease and high blood sugar. The liver is highly resilient to repeated insult- up to a point. So again please go and get that tested along with your kidney function to at least rule it out. Blessings

Back in the mid 90’s I had a sports doctor that had prescribed me Naxin Naproxen 500mg's for 1.5 years for my carpal tunnel syndrome which had caused 50% of my kidneys to malfunction. Just this year after doing much research, I started taking Pure Premium kidney repair pills 500mg, vitamin K2 MK-7 500mg & vitamin D3 1000IU, 200mg Co Q-10 and 100mcg Selenium or you can eat 3 Brazilian nuts for Selenium. If you incorporate this with eating low sodium and low sugar foods with fish and white meat I ended up bringing up my EGFR from 51 to 62 in just 3 months! I even included a cheat meal once a week having a red meat meal and my EGFR still went up 11 points in just 3 months! I hope this will help you and others trying to bring up their EGFR! What I had found really good is I always had a fruit smoothie first thing in the morning "strawberries, pineapple, 1 scoop of Subi Greens or Red Beet powder mix" and my first meal was always one whole egg, ¼ portion/mini carton of egg whites from Costco, green onions and 2-3 slices of low sodium turkey cut up in a scrambled egg with a handful of Jasmin rice which is light and easy on the kidneys. My other 2 meals will always consist of a handful of carbs/protein and lots of steamed vegetables in the last 2 meals and I know that had also contributed to bringing up my EGFR.

I’m 64 and I usually see my doctor bi-yearly and do my bloodwork at least a week in advance because of my hypothyroidism, type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. The previous bloodwork done 6 months before was fine but on my visit in Feb, it showed the dosage was was too high. In the past 15 months I had dealing with chronic nausea and vomiting and had dropped 60+ lbs, which is a significant amount of weight loss. I thought it was all due to one of my sons being extremely sick for the past 12+ months and ending up in palliative and hospice care and passed away Oct 2022 at 37, from kidney failure and severe Gastropharesis. Six weeks later, I don’t know why but I wanted a 2nd opinion and decided to change PCP’s since I had moved an hour away I found one 5 minutes away. I didn’t think I’d get in right away but I did and she did more bloodwork and I also saw a Gastroenterologist as well. He did some tests and I was diagnosed with Gastropharesis. My old PCP never mentioned anything about my kidney function, but when my bloodwork from new PCP came back it was drastically reduced and she sent me to see a nephrologist 3wks ago. He said 41% isn’t that bad for my age but that could change if I don’t take care of myself. All I can say is that I’m so thankful that God put it on my I decided to listen to my body and my heart and changed doctors. My son left behind his beautiful wife and my only grandchildren, 2 precious little boys,2 & 7, and I really want to see them grow up.

I’ve had stage 3 for many years and it always was just something I’d hear the doctor say and then never get much into it. Then during one of my regular appointments for diabetes I hear that kidneys are getting worse and working about 35% so suddenly realized I needed to learn more about this because my doc didn’t seem to be volunteering much. That was a little over 16 months ago. Now I’m stage 4, less than 19% functional losing about 1% point per month. I know that I should have looked into it all sooner, I just sorta thought if it was a serious problem then the doctor would make a bigger deal about it. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS SIMPLE YET VERY INFORMATIVE,ACCURATE VIDEO TO HELP OTHERS REALIZE WHAT SIGNS ARE THERE AND WHAT THEY MEAN! I truly wish I would have seen it years ago!

You are an angel. God bless you for doing this for others. My Daddy passed away in 1993 of a heart attack while he was already in hospital. I rode in the ambulance that last time with him. Listened to them lose him a couple times. He never came home. Hed had Type 2 and HBP for many years. For a time I lived with my parents with my daughter. I used to do his dialysis. Im so thankful I had that time with him and my Mom. They eventually were given a machine but it certainly is NOT an easy thing to deal with. You are so right! He got an infection at one point, peritoneal or perineal? Ive no doubt you know. They had cats and it was so difficult to keep everything berm free. There were 5 of us kids and he put his foot down that none of us could even be tested. His parents passed because of the same thing and he was adamant that we might need both kidneys. I wish I had pushed harder, he was only 62 but already legally blind. But he was right. I am 62 and just recently diagnosed with Type 2. I takemy HBP meds faithfully and my Rybelsus. My Mom and Dad did not always. My Mother passed in 2021 from colon cancer. She never would get checked for that either. She was in hospice lock down the last year and we never got to actually see her in all that time. Your message is so clear and concise and human to human. Much easier to hear than from some doctor who is condescending or bored. Thank God my doc isnt like that. But I already had the scoop Im afraid. Theres alot of people out there would need to watch your vids. Alot of people who like my dear sweet stubborn Mom, who was 86 when she passed. A person who believed you only take themeds when you feel bad. Like hypertension meds. Mine is under control and my A1c etc took a dive pretty quickly after my doc gaveme water pills as well and I dropped 25lbs. Im having some trouble acclimating to the timing of the Rybelsus and the fact that I have arthritis and stomach issues. The stuff really knocks me out. Anyway I just wanted you to know and anyone who sees this that you are doing an amazing service! Please take care of yourself and thank you again🙏🪽❤ also there are some kidney and urinary issues with both of my grandsons. Granddaughter seems ok thank God. But theyre all adults so its harder to get thru since you cant make them. Like my daughter who refused to go to the doc at all now. She almost died from liver failure. Having a fractured hip and carrying probably all 3 of her kids until they finally believed her. Then came the opioids.😮💨

Very interesting video. I also have CKF and experienced some of those symptoms and had no idea my kidneys were failing. Probably was failed at the point of symptoms anyway as Dr. Omole explained. Mines came at the age of 32 from complications at child birth from my youngest child. I went into Pre eclampsia. Blood pressure elevated while in labor. I am now on dialysis for35 years now. I read in a comment the doctor told him he had 15 years left. Doctors can not predict that. It is not a death sentence. Yet it hasn’t been easy. Also changed my life completely. My doctor overlooked everything which could have possibly avoided kidney failure. Therefore the doctors advice in this video is excellent When your body is telling something, listen. Request these test she recommends Stay aware and be proactive. Don’t wait till it’s too late. Thank you for this video which is so on point

Are you drinking at least 2.5 liters a day? Check your systolic BP...if it's below 120 it may indicate you're dehydrated. I found that 12 hours on a saline drip fixed me right up. All my renal tests returned to 100% normal. If you get too dehydrated, it's hard to rehydrate from acute dehydration by drinking water alone. It's like running your car with just 1 gallon of gas in the tank. Once you've pissed that gallon away, you're running on empty again, and feeling like crap. Top up the "tank" with saline so you're not running on fumes most of the time. I'd do this before taking any kind of kidney treatment. Most docs don't seem to understand dehydration very well, in my experience.
