The thing that surprises me isn't that the child survived the gorila. The thing that surprises me is that he survived that fall. When gorillas atack it's because you have got close to them, standing still ,looking at them or whatever. But in this case it's just an inocent creature/child that can't cause any damage to the gorilla and it's not defiant towards the animals. Instead the animals can feel that the criature is suffering and just worry for him.

I dont know why they needed to shoot him. Edit: Thanks for so many likes! I am not worthy T-T Edit: Ok people, let me clear something up. When I made his comment I wasnt trying to imply i dont care if the boy gets hurt, but the security could have handled the situation alot better. Yes I know they had short time to do this but if they had cleared the crowed from the encloser then harambe could have calmed down and if you looked, he had him by a door. If the crowd wasnt there they could have gotten him calm and he may have left the child by the door himself or people with propper protection could have went and gotten the boy. Btw Harambe's behavior was very delicate and thoughtful if you have half a working brain to analyze it's behavior. It first tried to pull the kids leg to move him to another location (just as how he would do with a baby gorilla). After the first dragging, it reevaluates wondering if pulling the leg is hurting the kid. So he proceeds to checking his arms (very delicatedly), and realizes that it would be even weaker. So then it proceeds to checking his clothes (people often mistakes this action as pulling his pants up), and it realizes that probably pulling from his pants wouldn't hurt the kid. The next time we see it dragging the kid to another location, Harambe is not grabbing from the kid's limbs anymore, it only pulls the kid from the pants. The last minute before he was shot, the kid and the gorilla were sitting peacefully outside the ditch in a dry surface. The kid was sitting between the gorilla's leg.

Whenever I took my kids to the zoo I had them clamped to my hand with a vice grip. I don’t understand how parents allow kids to walk and climb freely around these types of enclosures. I’ve seen it so many times and it baffles my mind. I was so nervous one time I had to go and tell a mother to please watch her son. She wasn’t even paying attention as she was attending to another child in a stroller, and he was trying to climb up on the top to get a better look. I couldn’t even leave the area until she left I was so nervous! If you’re a distracted parent the animal enclosure shouldn’t be on the list of stops.

It wasn't the child screaming it was the adults who screamed and confused a wild animal.
