next time you plan to cook munggo soak it first in water for few hours then wash it throughly before cooking it,then sautee garlic,onions,ginger,tomatoes and you can add some pork sliced into small cubes or some shrimps or dried fish(dilis) depends which do you prefer. then put the munggo,squash and water .when its almost cooked season with salt or magic sarap then put coconut milk and malunggay leaves or spinach or chili leaves..

If you dont add meat to your monggo, you may always add chicken broth/chicken cube to it for added flavor. Always better if you add crushed garlic as well as malunggay and other greens like spinach or kangkong would be good too.

Hello Valentina ,you can also sautee the soup. It is more tasty than the process you adopt Just sautee onions,garlic ,tomatoes & ginger in a little oil till it becomes soft in consistency. Then add your monggo and season it with salt. Cook the mixture till it is fully absorbs the taste of the sauteed seasonings. Then add enough water and cover your cooking pot till the mixture insides boil. You can add the (paitan)long slim pepper not the small/tiny one. Then you can add vegetable leaves of your choice( alugbati, malunggay or tinangkong leaves) .cook till the leaves are already tender. But the proper way of cooking vegetables is only half cooked

Its simply cooking rice as basic foods for us filipinos.. And it cook in one rice cooker with monggo beans and rice and ginger.And add the coco milk after it boiled ..But the ginataang monggo is originally cook the monggo by roasting it first and crush it to small pieces before it mix to sticky rice called- malagkit in tagalog and add the amount of sugar plus the coco milk

Hi Valentina, it's best to soak the mung beans overnight or for a few hours before cooking. Drain and rinse after soaking. This way, your won't have to boil them for hours.

Ginisang monggo is a different dish from ginataang mongo. But they're both dishes made with monggo beans. Ginisang monggo - savory dish. A monggo dish cooked with sauted ingredients Ingredients tomato - kamatis garlic - bawang onion - sibuyas ginger - luya tinapa - smoked fish (deboned) alugbati leaves or ampalaya leaves 1/4 cup of monggo 3-4 cups of water 1) Boil 1/4 cup of monggo beans in 3 cups of water until cooks 2) Saute bawang, sibuyas, luya and kamatis 3) Add the filleted tinapa 4) add this sauted mix to the boiling and cooked mongo 5) for soupy consistency, u can add more water 6) add the leaves and cook for some. minutes Ginataang Monggo (sweet) a snack and sweet dish - Pinoys usually have it as "merienda". It is a kapampangan dish (Pampanga, a province in the north of the Philippines) Ingredients 1/4 cup of monggo beans 1 cup of malagkit rice (glutinous rice) 4 cups of coconut milk brown sugar (depends on your sweetness preference) 1) using a pan, cook the monggo beans without oil or water, until they turn black (roasted but not so black). After roasting, crush the roasted beans. 2) In a separate cooking pan, cook the malagkit rice in coconut milk until it turns to porridge consistency 3) add the roasted monggo seeds, let it cook for some time 4) add the sugar of your preference 5) you can top it with jackfruit flesh Note: You got to continuously stir the mix to avoid burning the bottom of the dish. On a side note, some filipino dishes requires you to be patient and caring esp in cooking rice sweet delicacies with coconut milk as you have to pay much attention to the amount of heat applied (minimum), techniques and process, and to continously stir.

Valentina, you have good kids who are very reliable. Misha is very responsible. Tell him him if he speaks english fluently his teacher might accelearate him. Always make them practice it is for their own good. I know your kids are intelligent. Good not hearing them say lami kayo and masarap because somehow it is already overused. Creating your own introductory statement and goodbye words will be better. If Misha and Kostya will participate in your vlogs you will have more subscribers. They are not the typical kids. Valentina, you are fortunate to have them because they are always helping you. Good that you went to the health center. At least the doctor gave his diagnosis. We wash the monggo beans and rice before cooking. Actually we do not add rice to the monggo in the same pot. Try adding moringa to your monggo dish.

Yes Valentina. Mongo is high in protein and is safe for cats. 😊 Garlic, is poisonous to cats, onion, pepper, soy sauce are not good too. Only ginger is acceptable for cats along with high protein foods like fish, eggs, chicken and other meat, mongo, etc.

You can make a sweet version of ginataang monggo (without adding ginger & pumpkin). The same process, just add sugar (brown or white), more water and cook in low heat. Always wash the lentils & rice grains before cooking it.

We have dogs and a cat. We don't feed them bones from leftover food because we are afraid the bones might get stuck in their throat or in their stomach. But if we cook chicken, we give them the joints because that doesn't break into sharp pieces.

wow, I'm glad you tried to cook ginataang monggo.. Just a piece of advice, don't cook rice together with the monggo. cook it separately. also, before cooking monggo, wash it first . And it is better to soak it in water for at least an hour (some people soak it overnight) to make it easier to cook. at the end, put some maluggay leaves (cook for 1 minute) or young alugbati leaves (5-8 minutes because it's thicker.)

It would taste better if you sauté your dish with onion, garlic, ginger, tomato before adding the monggo & rice (washed). You can add some meat/fat to add taste & do not forget to season it. You must add more water to make monggo soup because monggo will absorbs the water & it will dry up later on. Adding other green vegetables like sitaw or green leafy vegetables can make it more healthier.

Good job for the 2 kids, but I noticed that they did not wash the mungbean or munggo. They poured it straight into the casserole. They should have washed it well before boiling or cooking.
