I think it is great that they’re educating the boys as well. Especially after the boy said he has seen it in many movies and the other said he’s seen it in ads. It also helps them to be kinder to girls who can have issues with them down the line, so they won’t pick on them in class if they have an accident.

When I was a teenager I had the heaviest periods, and I was a super deep sleeper, so when I tossed and turned, no matter how big my pads were, I’d leak. So my mum started giving me adult diapers to wear to bed when I was on like day 2-4 of my period. Laugh all you want, but it helped so much bc I didn’t have to ruin my sheets and slept without anxiety about leaking. I was so anxious to tell other people, but I told my best friend and she started doing it too and was like “omg genius”. The other alternative was having a smaller, thicker blanket that I slept with under me and if it leaked it didn’t go through. Now I’m on the pill and my periods don’t get heavy enough to warrant that, thank god.

This reminds me how much work girls have to do just to make babies, long before we find a partner. We're made to go through this hardship even if we don't want children. Periods can start as young as 7 years old. We experience multiple symptoms and setbacks before and during our period (e.g. PMS, PMDD, anxiety, acne, hairfall, lethargy, pains, soreness, leaks, flooding, smells, stickyness, bacterial and fungal infections etc). We could have a range of different medical problems that can affect our menstruation and reproductive health (PCOS, Endometriosis, Andenomyosis, Fibroids, Polyps, PID, hymen and vaginal abnormalities, cancers etc). We spend so much money on feminine hygiene products, and do so much work managing our periods (wipes, washes, tampons, pads, cups etc, constantly changing and cleaning them). We physically and mentally suffer trying to conceive (especially for IVF treatments), carrying a child, losing or aborting a child, and even risk death giving birth. We could be forced to raise children on our own, and endure post-natal problems (hairloss, depression, incontinence, diatasis recti, vaginal prolapse, breastfeeding issues etc). Our time to naturally have children is shorter than men's, and we suffer the impact of menopause in the end. And yet, females are still seen by some people as the "weaker sex". To anyone who shame girls for their period, especially boys: remember, you wouldn't exist without them!

My mother explained periods the way I hope to teach my children. She told me, just like a mamma bird has to make a nest for the eggs to hatch, a mamma human has to make a good environment for the baby to grow inside of her. Unlike birds finding feathers, fluff and other things though, since it's internal, the body makes it out of blood and stuff (I didn't learn about uterine lining specific vocab at the time). If there's no baby though, there's no need for the nest so it comes out. It can hurt because your muscles are squeezing it out and it feels weird because of its location in your tummy. Made sense to me when I asked at 7, and was not at all afraid when it happened to me at 12.

When parents do period talks I think the bit the bit kids get thrown by is flow. I think periods sound a bit scary when kids get the idea period comes out like a constant stream, almost like urine. Though you can have a big gusher time to time, for the most part you aren’t aware of it leaving the body. I think we confuse girls into thinking it’s like a little tap that turns on. Some women do have really crap luck with periods and can have crazy flow I’m sure (sorry you guys) , but for the most part it really is imperceptible.
@juliannajane63863 жыл бұрын
I mean, I think it might be quite equal. In my life I’ve known about equal amounts of women who have easy periods and ones who have crazy ones. Also, because period type and flow often runs in the family, the girls who’s parents discuss heavy flows probably are gonna be more likely to have them (cause if the mother has them, the child probably will too).

So, cut and hi-ho kids are owned by the same company, huh?
@Jess-np6bj3 жыл бұрын
Fairly certain Cut is the parent company, and the Hi-Ho channel is specifically reserved for kid content and Cut for adults. I suppose they put this video on Cut because not every child of every age is ready for this conversation yet, and/or some parents might not want it popping up when they allow their children to watch the Hi-Ho channel.

This is really good Awareness for the children before menstruation My mother have said me more about periods when I was 13 but later a year I had it!! I felt scared for the first time later I just got usual to have my period happier like other days!! This is a gift of nature We women should be happy instead of being sad or feeling discomfort It may last till the age 50 or 55 or some But it could stop on our aged days!! I really support such videos who have men on the Topic of periods!! Men should know how women struggle or survive from their problems such like periods and lot more than them Thank you for this wonderful conversation

Even menstrual hygene does have cultural diffrences. Would love a video about this! Until a few years ago I've never seen an american tampon. In Germany we only use the tampon without the plastic help for inserting. And the cups are very common. :)

Wow, that seems cool. I wouldn't have minded a party ;)

more importantly is to find out that info your self, esp if your a young girl. this is where the internet can be confusing. you see info from one area and think your all set, only to find its different in your area. even for women who travel, know the customs and supplies in advance, dont get caught short

I wish one of my parents had explained this. I got mine when I was 12 or 13. I didn't know how my cycle worked until I got pregnant with my son at 25 with my ex-husband. He is my only child. He will be for 4 this year

I never had any talks with my parents about anything pertaining to puberty. I found out about everything through the internet. Didn't even learn about anything in sexual education in school.

All the people calling this weird or gross are either immature or just kids.
@queenflippy3 жыл бұрын
Yes, only children are allowed to be weirded out because they're still learning. Adults really should reveal no shock, that's just dumb.
@thegrandproject74093 жыл бұрын
Parents SHOULD teach their kids this, but doing it on camera? It just feels "off" to me.
@oxyktten3 жыл бұрын
@@thegrandproject7409 I personally don’t mind because it could teach some other kids about periods.
@queenflippy3 жыл бұрын
@@thegrandproject7409 it's not only teaching their kids, it's teaching other children who may not have the opportunity to talk to their own parents/guardians about this kind of stuff. It's educational more than it is 'off' to some viewers - I don't know why nature needs to be hidden really.

@urachulnan ur mom for some reason you’ve commented 3 times explaining how disgusting you believe periods are on this exact video. I’m assuming you’re a child probably male as no woman would ever say this particular comment. They’re uncomfortable sure and can be gross sometimes but it’s apart of life you need to grow up and if your a cis man and date women it’s going to be a bit difficult for you. But otherwise if you’re are a boy or a girl either way it’s a good for you to accept that nobody will ever date someone like you.
