Hi! We are Phil and Alex! After leaving California in an RV, traveling full time, and helping our littlest with an open heart surgery, we've settled down in Tennessee. I agree, I know they mentioned their first recuse dog had been over bred and was not good for her. I wonder if Chloe had the same thing happen to her and if it’s in Chloe’s best interest for her to have puppies. They take good care of their animals so hope they are considering that.

I am curious about Chloe too. I thought she was rescued from a bad breeder situation?

My memory is it was a "breeder" in that they in that produced puppies. No dog histories, papers, genetic testing, etc. Most likely they resorted to inline breeding and forced females to produce litters one after the other. Chloe should not have been bred. This is backyard breeding and is very disappointing.

You are correct in that Chloe was rescued from a breeder who had passed and left Emily & Chloe unattended. After a year, we were able to get her AKC registration information last month.

I think people get really frustrated by backyard breeding when there are so many unwanted dogs in the World. It might be good for Phil and Alex to address this because it will divide people. I am an animal lover and passionate about animal rights and welfare and so of course it is disappointing to me to hear, as it will be to others.

I think it’s ok for people to enjoy 99% of content but to voice concern about that 1% where they see it. There are so many unwanted dogs in the world and so many unknown genetic factors that adopting is always going to be a better idea than backyard breeding - or maybe get pedigree dogs and do it properly if not.

Bloody love your channel though. I know it’s easy to call out the one thing that you don’t agree with but there is so much I love and I learn so much of you and now have chickens and grow my own food not wholly because of you but in part. I think being an influencer is a heavy burden as you aren’t going to make the right call 100% of the times, I sometimes feel triggered when you talk about the girls behaviour being so marvellous because of your parenting techniques, as I have a child with ASD, ADHD and dyspraxia and things are not perfect all of the time and I parent very differently to you and question everything I do and sometimes it can be hard to see how perfect people’s lives are on the internet. Then I think influencers should be more careful about portraying only the good things but equally I understand that the hard times are private and shouldn’t be aired necessarily, especially when it comes to children. Then I think influencers should offer the odd reminder that things are not always perfect so that people watching aren’t so sad and don’t wonder where they’re going wrong when, in fact, they aren’t going wrong, they just have additional challenges from a given situation. Then I think hush girl, it’s nice to celebrate other people’s perfect parenting! And the thoughts swirl around until I can’t see clearly at all!! But my point is (that was a long time coming) as an influencer you need to be so aware of all of the different audiences from a mora standpoint and so there is always going to be some area that requires improvement but honestly - dog situation aside - I think you guys are a hoot and raising your smalls right 😂

It is definitely up to me to manage the things that trigger my anxieties that can’t be helped, I tend not to avoid triggers because I think that is unrealistic, I am just watchful for them and remind myself it is my problem, not theirs. Social media is renowned for providing people with false expectations in their life however and I do struggle with this personally. However, as someone who has worked in dog rescues as well as bred and reared show animals I do understand that breeding without a full understanding of an animal’s genetic history can have very severe consequences eg. Hip dysplasia in this breed is an extremely painful condition and if you don’t have a full genetic history then you can’t rule that out and in effect therefore, whilst the breeding is not on a large scale, you are nonetheless breeding without a good reason and with potentially bad results which, yes, is one element of backyard breeding and quite a big and unethical one. There are other concerns that people have that I echo with breeding a rescue dog too. And this isn’t a trigger point for me in the respect that I have a political view point about it and it is important to air our political views.
