So, what was your best or most mamorable playground experience? I am still having bad dreams of that small carousel! :D

My dad somehow ended up with a playground catalogue, as in the type meant for businesses/establishments to order parts of a playground. As a kid I spent hours looking through the catalogue at both the example images and the individual parts.

This isn't when I was a kid, because my memory isn't that long. I think it was the end of last year, for new years I went with my family and had an evening in the city doing city things and having a quite nice dinner in a place with a great atmosphere and interesting food. Then we headed out of the city and stopped on an island so we could look back over the bay and watch the fireworks. We got there after most of the crowds so we all climbed up the playground to see and we had hot cider.

My most memorable playground experience loading up a few people onto carousel, then having 2 people spin it as fast as they could to see who would stay on the longest. Yep, kids are kinda dumb that way.

Haven’t found the solution to the 10:08 Easter egg yet so I am going to reveal it: Many clock manufacturers decided to display their watches at around 10:10 which looks like a V for victory, shows perfect symmetry and so on (Seiko for example used 10:10:30 which seems to be perfectly aligned up to the 1960s). Over time, some manufacturers experimented with different times to display, Timex for example displayed their watches at 8:20 which was not well received as it looks like frowning and then they went back to 10:08, alongside with Seiko and Breitling who moved to around 10:08:35 to 10:08:42 because hands positions in that timespan look „dynamic“ and „most appealing“. According to market researchers of Seiko, it feels „mouthwatering“. Also, with this position, the hands are not overlapping, the brand name below the 12 is still perfectly shown. Additionally, it is said, that humans are hardwired to see things that aren‘t really there, e.g. that cat in the clouds or the picture of Jesus on your burnt piece of toast, the face of a car and its the same with clocks - we see faces. A time at around 10:10 looks happy (but a bit strange because of the symmetry) and too obvious, thus clocks are often set to 10:09 / 10:08 to make you feel happy and want to buy it. With digital clocks its also simple: that time shows most of the available segments available and was thus used to show times on digital clocks

The poo coffee Rudi was talking, is made from coffee beans which has been given for elephants to digest the hard shells of the coffee beans, and when they poop them out people just pick out the beans now soft and ready to be washed, baked and used...that why it is so expensive. There is similar process called Civet coffee-the most expensive coffee in the world, because the process is the same, but civets are very rare and endangered animals.

The 4 of you make an amazing team with each having your own strengths. Silv's brain goes right to the buildings, Lady cares for the animals and their exhibits, Mike loves his landscaping, and Rudi has the Disney brain, all about the guest experience. It is such a joy to watch these episodes and wish there was a way for all of this to come to life. FYI, Rudi, I LOVE Disney World and go at least once a year. I know exactly what you are talking about when you reference the parks.

On last episode (with all 4) I come by as all of them as a soccer team! :P Mike is obviously coach, DeLady is goalie, who also kicks all penalty shots, Rudi is whole rest of the team, as he can play on any position. And now you ask where's silvarret? He's not on field, as he is busy building that awesome football stadium for a team! :P And if team gets to finals, they hire Iben from another team to make goals.

So many great details. I can't believe you made an actual tube slide in the playground. Love the open feel of that corner. The petting zoo/feeding animal corner was neat too. But I really loved the big planter, really cool with the twisted shape. Also, some zoos use the waste produced by their animals to produce biogas for a portion the zoo's electricity, heat and fertilizer needs. Overall, I can't believe how far this zoo has come from a blank, flat map to this amazing project. It is really inspiring to see.

Here i come with a random explanation of why would anyone want a huge field of grass before entrance to their whatever. The custom originated in late middle ages, among french ang english nobility, as a show of status and power. It goes along the lines "look how wealthy am i, how much land i can waste for grass that is of no use to anyone". Also maintaining a beautiful green lawn took a lot of time and effort, so really, there were few, who could afford it. It became a symbol of status and power, also a place for important events and parties. So, basically, the bigger the useless filed, that was also a nightmare to mantain in good shape, the better. One of best examples, Chambord castle in France, with the greatest, biggest, flattest lawn you could imagine :D

To Mike's concern about the feeding, full size kangaroos wouldn't be that big of a deal either so long as they're used to captivity and comfortable around people. I've hand fed an adult kangaroo myself at a wildlife sanctuary in Australia and it was super cool, in what was basically a fully walk-through habitat similar to the lemurs habitat in Koali. It would potentially be more of a problem to do the demonstrations with joeys (young kangaroos) because they don't like being apart from their mother and it would make them even more used to / reliant on people than would already be the case in captivity. And the game doesn't include wallaby, which are like mini kangaroos; a full adult wallaby is about the size of a human toddler so they look like young kangaroos even when they're full grown. Oh and to maybe make Rudi a little jealous, also in Australia I got to ride a camel while camping in the outback, and also saw some wild camels out and about. Turns out Australia had a small population of camels brought in from Arabia some time in I think the 19th century, and the outback is such perfect conditions for them that there is now a larger wild population of camels in Australia than where they were originally brought over from. Felt surprisingly different from riding a horse, much more of a side to side movement than horseback, and you might kind of forget that when they run they're still FAST so it's very physically jarring.
@Park5014 жыл бұрын
Yeah Australia actually exports Camels to the middle east (and Sand) and you are correct with the walk through Kangaroo habitats in most large zoos they will have them, was surprised that you couldn't with Planet Zoo

The "dung" coffee that Rudi was referencing isn't from elephant poop. It's called Kopi luwak and it's made from coffee beans that have been fed to palm civets, a species of small feline. Civets have unique stomachs that cause the coffee beans to ferment, enhancing and changing their flavor, improving the quality of the coffee. That's why it's so expensive/the most expensive coffee in the world.
@RudiRennkamel4 жыл бұрын

I wonder about having to go past backstage to get to the hotel. Those customers are also customers! There should be a barrier saying where is the petting area for the camels too, even if it's not a physical barrier but a line in the sand. You don't only have to worry where the animals go, but also where the kids go; you need to be able to say "stay on this side of that there" or else the kids are wandering off. Fun fact about those rubber mats, they're usually made of recycled rubber especially tires.
