This took me way back, I’m 73 yrs old and had a Caucasian step mom who did my hair. She had a couple of black girlfriends who taught her to press and curl my hair and later to perm it. I loved it when she gave me pixie bangs. She has since passed and I miss her dearly.

As a social worker, I’ve seen Black children with non Black foster/adoptive parents a lot. When I’d try to offer advice and even help with their Black children’s hair, a lot of them would either get offended or shy away from my offers instead of considering how much hair affects a child’s comfort levels, confidence, & self esteem. The fact that this momma has researched info on her daughter’s hair care and put her ego aside to make sure the child’s hair stays neat and healthy is SO WHOLESOME.

Their hair care routine will bond them closely for life. She will take the skill, self esteem, pride, and self identity with her for the rest of her life. She will be telling her future generations how much time she and her mom spent in hair care when she does the same for them that mom did for her, and they will tell their offsprings and do the same and so on. All black moms don't know how to comb their children's hair. Whenever my goddaughter's mom would drop her off for me to take care of, the girl's hair would look a mess! My goddaughter had long, thick hair, but it's texture was fine! I've seen videos of black dads combing their daughter's hair, and I must say, the brothers can come up with some awesome, creative hairstyles!

I love watching this. What’s crazy is that my mother never took the time to learn how to do my hair as her blood African American child. She’s always held onto “I don’t know how to do hair” while also meaning “I’m not trying to learn how to do hair” but Watching this really brings me joy knowing that all of your children have a mother like that. You’re definitely a human being to appreciate! 💜

@jessicawaite5140
@jessicawaite5140 3 жыл бұрын
@@aloowalia2849 yes they do. They get paid to maintain the child’s health and wellbeing. Though some foster parents do not do this and instead use the money for themselves, which is illegal. The system is not the same in every country though. Some people foster to adopt, so the child stays with the family for a period and is assessed for their ability to care for them before adoption, and others foster a child until they are adopted out so they don’t have to be in a children’s home.

I’m not adopted but I am half black and this reminds me of when my mom did my hair as a kid. I just thanked her not too long ago for taking time to learn my hair because I always took it for granted even though she always poured love into me and my hair. This is amazing!

I just wanna say, what you're doing for her is amazing. You're so considerate and compassionate towards her hair in a way that not many people get to experience. You even care about giving her scalp a break. You're giving her unique styles, her hair is beautiful, there's only beauty and freedom. Only comfort and no expectation of pain. Your child is going to have a much healthier relationship with her hair than what is common, and that's so beautiful. I came from a video reaction, and I just really wanna say, we're all giving you props. Thankful for wonderful parents like you, (pardon my sappiness).

My grandma offered to help me take down my two strand twists. But she ripped it when it was tangled, I ran away as soon as I heard it. I've a 3b hair and it doesnt even tangle that much. I never let her touch my hair again. I can't imagine what she would do to a tighter curl pattern.

As a hairstylists I love that you took the time to learn how and what to do with textured hair. I've had so many biracial and African American kids come in with matted and broken off hair and the dad's bring them in. Again I so glad that you took the time to educate yourself and others.

This is absolutely beautiful! I think that the mother LOVES doing her daughter’s hair because it’s not only relaxing and a bonding ritual for them both but it is totally different from her own hair. This is why we are constantly asked if they could touch our hair. She is instilling such confidence in her daughter by embracing her beauty instead of ignoring it. This is so important. The style at the end of the video is beautiful 🤩 💚💕
