Had this on Switch since release. Perfect port as always, in the top 3 shmups of all time for sure. Cave perfection.

It’s awesome to have Dodonpachi Daioujou on modern hardware and I agree 100%. My only nitpick is it’s missing the arranged and extra OSTs like Ketsui had. Perhaps they’ll bring that back in a future DLC pack. Not holding my breath for Death Label mode which is basically impossible mode in the PS2 port. I have nothing but respect for M2 for their hard work preserving games of the past since Sega Ages on the PS2 and 3DS/Switch. Hoping the next Shot Triggers entry is Espgaluda, Ibara or Mushihimesama Futari or something from Raizing. Shmups still going strong today!💪

I have been eyeing this game for a couple months considering a purchase. I'm going to likely get it on PS4 if I do. I love the box art for this game, ugh, just gorgeous. The gameplay looks awesome and a shooter that is guaranteed to keep me interested! Thanks for putting some focus on this game Jim! Hope your year has started off well!

First Dodonpachi game that I play was its second sequel (Back then, I don't know much about this game since I stumble upon it on some local arcades in my local mall country), and it was unlike I ever seen before. It was like playing 1945, Pocky & Rocky, and Gun Bird, but in hardcore mode 😆

Now you can get them on PS5 and experience 1 less frame of lag Jim! The thing with Black Label is that it's a revision of Arcade mode, that includes fixes of issues that only became apparent when the game was released in the wild. It should actually be treated as the main mode. M2 dropped the ball on that. I'd love to know what's next - hopefully Ibara Kuro.

Can't wait for my DDP DOJ copy to show up in the mail. Currently working on my DDP DFK clear as my first Cave danmaku. I'm a pretty big fan of the 16-bit shmups, but I'm wondering if I'm starting to prefer the modern Cave vertical ones a bit more. These shottriggers releases are really good.

NICE, Live Wire's port of DFK is excellent. Also, I can recommend Akai Katana Shin, Deathsmiles 1&2, Espgaluda 2, and Esprade Psi, all Cave shooters that have been ported to modern consoles.

@@MadPanicGaming The only one I don't have yet in your list is Akai Katana Shin. For some reason I struggle with the hori bullet patterns more than vertical. Definitely noticed that in Death Smiles too. Akai Katana looks like a fantastic game so I'll probably get it eventually. 🙃

Also the Aleste Collection is great. GG Aleste 3 is a game gear game but is one of the best shooters IMO for the Switch.

The only thing we need now is Saidaioujou on modern platforms. Come on Cave or whoever, give a group of talented programmers the source code so they can put it on other platforms like the PS5 and Switch. I mean this game and Daifukkatsu are readily available nowadays but Saidaioujou desperately needs a rerelease.
