Yes injuries has plagued us, but i feel like ETH hasn't been getting the best out of the available squad regardless of that. He's still the one choosing the tactics, he's the one resposnsible for realizing what's not working and adjusting so things become better. Tbh there has been times when we've been able to field 9/11 preferred starters (everyone bar Martinez and Shaw), and we've still looked bad.

If you think McKenna is the man for the job, you don’t know football, not at elite level anyway. You don’t know what separates great managers from good coaches. It’s the intangibles; aura, charisma, suave, a bit of spite, devil & presence that borders on fear factor. It’s your personality that commands respect. It staggers me how people overlook & underestimate the necessity of those characteristics when it comes to elite level competition. Has anyone ever played football? I knew the importance of charisma in a manger when I was 8. And going back next season for U-10’s and coach had changed, I knew immediately he didn’t have the swagger, I was a depressed 9 yr old pining for my old coach. Or sitting front row at Old Trafford in 1999 vs Juve, awe struck by Carlo Ancelotti, even before he’d even won anything, I didn’t know his record or win / loss %, but the aura was steaming off him. These things matter. McKenna doesn’t tick those boxes. When you’re at a top club, with top players, you’re better off having a 9/10 charisma + 7/10 tactical acumen, than the other way around.

The more I think about this the more I feel like McKenna makes sense. This is the way clubs are going now and the management want their own appointment to come in and start a project. McKenna has experience with the club already and knows the talent with the youth system and he might just be able to get better from rashford and others who he already knows from the team. He's clearly a good man manager you either have that quality or you don't. Unless ten hag got utd in the top 3 again he was never going to be in favour of the new management team that has taken over but now this is a proper real start now the official rebuild. The management needs to live and die by their decisions now but I just want to see this new manager be given at least 3 full seasons to start recruiting for the future and to be getting rid of the player power that has taken over.

Ten Hag, as it turns out is no different to anyone else at a high level coming to United. You arrive a winner, perform at a high level in your first season, then regress to the level of the club. The energy, infrastructure, board, all of it is of a mediocre standard in 2024. Look at Bruno, Casemiro and Varane as examples. Brilliant first season, then there's a drop off in the second. Injuries included. That's medical department. Not of the standard needed. I've been saying this for years at this stage. You can't outrun the level of your environment.
