Martinez is more important than a new manager

I think Martinez illustrates the problems. When we have a full, fit team ten Hag will do well, because he thrives on creating and implementing long term plans and training strategies. His weakness is when he has to come up with something at short notice because of fast rotation of available players due to injury. Martinez is one of best players, but he also has a terrible record for injury having played fewere games over his two years at the club than he has missed through injury. We can't engage in wishful thinking that he'll be available for the majority of next season, because reality suggests he won't.

Metatarsal last season made him miss the last 12 games, foot, knee and calf injuries this season made him miss 36 games. Once a metatarsal goes once, it's amatter of WHEN not IF it goes again... And if "as long as he's not as bad as Martial that's OK" is the benchmark for reliability that's great, but don't expect the club to do well in the league.

He didn't throw his philosophy out the window Ste! His philosophy mostly worked against the stronger teams … he just didn't have a plan B for teams that waited for us to come on to them! A small adjustment would fix this.

he had all season to make that adjustment. I love Ten Hag and I know the problems we had with attitudes and injury but watching us give up like 30 shots to teams like Fulham - when our backups are still better than their starters - was brutal and unacceptable. All we can do at this point is trust INEOS to make the right decision.

The way I feel today after that result I can only imagine is similar. I hope this saves Eric and we see a similar tenure from him. You cannot set a team up to be strong tactically if you don’t have the players to do it. Pep could not do better with the team we had. Fair, some of the players are Ten Hag’s signings but even then, the injuries made doing anything impossible. The last time we had the kind of injuries in our defence was when SAF was managing and we had to put Carrick at the back. We got beaten by Fulham 3-0. Even the best managers can’t cope with it. I think it is a media agenda to get Ten Hag out because they know we are on to something and are scared
