I have proabably watched 50 Deva Curl tutorials trying to figure out the best method to do my hair and this has been the MOST helpful! It seems like everyone else has perfect ringlets that spring up no matter how many times they scrunch or how they diffuse and separate their curls, but mine are so fragile! Thanks for being relateable!

This is one of the best curly hair tutorials I've seen and I've seen a lot. Some very useful tips that nobody else has mentioned. You have the most stunningly naturally beautiful face also. More girls should learn from you on how to apply really good natural looking makeup. No scary eyebrows here! 😆

I agree with the other comment below. Your hair is gorgeous and you should always wear it curly. Very attractive and feminine. Love this video. I have much shorter, curly, fine hair and struggle with letting it go curly or blow drying it. I just would like to take advantage of the curls I do have and not blow dry it so much. I do have shoulder problems which is another reason I'm trying to get away from lots of blow drying. I appreciate this video and thanks for the recommendation on the products. Again, wear it this way all the time, it is beautiful.

2 weeks? nah if you use heat even once a week your hair is going to be really damaged, I have curly hair but I used to use the flat iron pretty much daily for like 8 years and I regret it so much now, so if you want your curls back you need to stop any kind of heat and deep condition weekly (also you can start the curly girl method) but yeah if you lost your curl pattern you need to wait more than 2 weeks
@Clairebanx

I guess it's different for everyone.. for me it took a few weeks only but mine was super healthy, even after lots of heat..

most people with hair that is similar to mine should be able to reclaim most of their curl fairly quickly. if your hair is more curly and more damaged it may obviously take longer but I think my hair is a mix of corkscrew and swavey so it comes back fast!

@lygophilia4127
@lygophilia4127 6 жыл бұрын
Kier Mellour Target doesn't sell silk robes; I doubt yours is silk. Silk is hella expensive due to the limited supply (silk worms) and lengthy/labor intensive process; quality silk would be hundreds of dollars for a short robe. Target only sells satin robes. Satin is a weave with a glossy surface, not a fabric. The affordable robes you're referring to are most likely (man-made) polyester with a satin weave for a glossy silk-like finish, which is okay for a budget robe, but it's not as good on the hair as 100% mulberry silk in a 20+ momme weight.

I just recently realized that one of my 4 daughters has curly hair!!! Her hair is really coarse and was always super wavy and frizzy and just a puff ball, until I realized that she is a curly girl. I've been doing the CG method and it's working really well. I'm using all Deva Curl products, cause I was just want the best, and especially, cause I don't know much about curly hair. I'm learning it, though. I've actually been using the same product that you are in this video, plus the Supercream. So, my dilemma is, that 90% of her hair is curly, but some strands and most of her hair framing her face is straight. 🤔 Will those eventually curl too, or is she stuck with two toned hair? FYI, she is 6 and I've been using the wrong products for her all this time, until about a month ago. If you could give me any info or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it! I love your curls, btw.

Petra Speights I’ve had curly hair for years and have been wearing it curly consistently but the bottom near my neck is straighter hair, the hair right next to the right side of my face is slightly wavy and and the other side curls into ringlets. It’s not unusual to have a couple different pieces in the hair

Be careful with what products you use on her hair because I've heard the curly girl method isn't great for children. Some people are born with mixed hair types so it could be that her hair is like that naturally but part of it could also be after years of breakage due to brushing. My hair is quite similar, I grew up with curly hair but never knew how to take care of it and it would be poofy and frizzy due to years of using the wrong products, brushing, and straightening, I've been using the curly girl method for about 8 months and still am in the process of healing my hair so it may just take time for her straight bits to curl.

Soooo, I just found this and love it so much. Im a natural girl do no heat and very few products go into this hair. I usually washed at night and slept with it wet and in the morning AMAZING and I am to kidding. Now, Im in my 40's and that has all changed...... I have very curly hair, pretty thin but a lot of it and I wash every other day but I feel my hair is aways frizzy. I am going to try all of this I am so excited I just hate spending this much time on my hair I have better things to do BUT, love my curls and want them to look pretty again so I will do what I have too. Will this method work good for me when I don't have to wait like some watchers have said because of all the heat they used before? I just really want pretty again. Thank you for all you do :o)

I cannot get a comb through my hair before my shower so I comb through a deep conditioner in the shower. I wonder if this contribute to the top layer of my hair looking straight and frizzy, while having nice, defined curls underneath? Any suggestions?
@Liz18Marie
@Liz18Marie 6 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem before, but is not because of the way you use the deep conditioner, basically when you rinse your conditioner out the top layers are the ones that rinse the most clear because they have more direct contact with the water while the under layers keep a liiiiitle bit of the conditioner so they are more moisturized. What I now do is that I rinse the conditioner upside down, so I rinse the under layer more than the upper layer. I hope that helps

will this routine work with thinner hair then yours? I was observing the texture of your hair and comparing it to mine and was wondering if this routine would work for fine thin curly hair. I've been trying to find healthy ways to take care of my hair, I've tried a handful of products but they just ended up weighing down my hair because of how my hair texture is. over the years I have noticed the change in my hair from poofy curls and then to flattening out. so from 6th grade til my junior year. I hope this comment reaches you so we can discuss more

@IBGECKO
@IBGECKO 6 жыл бұрын
I agree with Jill. While no routine works for everyone across the board, one of the main Curly Girl rules is no brushing dry hair. Hair should be detangled in the shower while conditioning, preferably with your fingers, but if you must use an implement a wide-toothed comb is the way to go. Also, while shampooing you should massage your scalp with your fingertips and not your nails. I don't make the rules, lol, and not everything in the CGM works for me, so one must be adaptive. It is important to stress that this is what works for YOU, but that it strays from the CGM. I believe everyone should try to follow the CGM for a few months, and then tweak it to your needs. The soaking wet hair and styling products? Turns my head into a giant frizzball, so I plop for 10 minutes while I'm putting on my makeup before applying styling product. Just my two cents...
@lygophilia4127
@lygophilia4127 6 жыл бұрын
I agree with Jill and IBGECKO. For straight hair, don't brush in the shower, but for curly hair, never brush it dry. DevaCurl stylist confirmed and recommended the Wet Brush.

This seems to work well for her. I think it's all about trying different things and figuring out what works for you. Personally, I don't like Deva Curl products. Used them for a few years and stopped. I like Shea Moisture products. They just work better for me. I don't do the sopping wet hair thing either. And on occasion I use a brush. Rules are meant to be broken when they don't work.
