Here is some brief information about Ren: Ren Eryn Gill was born in Wales in 1990. Ren is a multi-instrumentalist and producer. He sings, raps and writes his songs, lyrics and video scripts himself. He studied music performance at Bath Spa University. In 2009 he became seriously ill and had difficulty attending lectures. In 2010, he was signed to Sony Records. However, as his health continued to deteriorate, he had to terminate the contract. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led to him suffering from psychosis. It was not until seven years later that a doctor in Belgium finally diagnosed him with autoimmunity and Lyme disease, which led to brain, organ and joint damage as well as PTSD. After stem cell therapy in the United States, his health improved considerably. However, he continues to suffer greatly from his illnesses. For about one and a half year he was undergoing treatment in Canada. He just returned to the UK a few weeks ago to play an awesome concert at 'The Secret Garden Party' with a lot of his musical companions. In October 2023, his album "Sick Boi" was number one in the British album charts.

Heyyy Another therapist here lol 👋🏽 As a therapist myself, as well as a performer/ entertainer, I originally only used art as my therapy. Once i started making it in the entertainment industry and it became my career, I could no longer use that as my escape since that simultaneously became my stressor . That’s what actually started me wanting to be a therapist. You are actually right about the presenting “your best self” in the therapy room. However , good therapist don’t tell you what to do, but they help you acknowledge your most authentic self to make the best decision for you. With my clients, I call that the “Ah Ha” moment. So many people present a version of themselves to the point they start believing it themselves. It’s such a beautiful blessing and an honor to assist/ witness people not only overcome their personal obstacles , but most importantly, tap into their true selves and love themself as a person. 💛🌻 The art form and mental health awareness that Ren shares to the world is why he is literally my favorite artist! 👏🏽

Another mind blowing piece of information about this song: In an interview Ren said that Hi Ren was a one take, the third take they did. They didn't have permission to be in the basement they were in, and they had 4 cameras and two mics. As they were finishing the second take, the building manager walked in and asked them to leave. They begged for another 30 minutes and that was the take they used. However, the very end part when he turns from putting down the guitar and starts talking is a separate take. They were allowed to go back when the building manager helped them submit the correct paperwork. Post production was them just taking footage from the various cameras they had set up to auto record.

Welcome to the “world of Ren”. It’s another great rabbit hole. Also you will find a lot of crossover with hang over gang is also a “Renegade” (REN’s fans). I love them both, they are very different, but at the same time are the same in their kindness, humbleness, and positivity. I’ve listened to Tom and Ren more than any other artists in the past 2 years. They both have great messages, they both appreciate their fans, both were totally independent but I did see that Ren signed a deal with someone and they are already screwing him over. I HATE that for him. He doesn’t deserve to be screwed over by the music industry. He got to number 1 album in the UK on his own! I hope he gets that worked out because his life’s story is a lot like mine with dealing with a lifelong health condition that will try to kill you all the time. So Ren helps me with a lot of that fear and frustration. When you don’t have your health you don’t have anything. So if you’re healthy and you’re reading this, be GRATEFUL! I mean so grateful that it annoys people. Because coming from someone who has to deal with chronic health issues that are trying to kill me every day, I would give anything to not have to deal with it and be able to be more productive than I am. Ren wrote and made music better than most and he was sick for most of it. He gives a lot of people hope to be able to do the same. So if you go decide to go through REN’s rabbit hole, I’m here for that one too! It’s a lot of fun ☺️. God bless 💗🙏🏼🇺🇸

Ren is still independent and not signed with a label. What recently happened is a discrepancy over the beat for Sick Boi that he bought/licensed. He feels the producer is screwing him over. Video was struck, it's a whole thing.

Ren is absolutely a genius. He is very different but in a very good way. Ren has a videography explaining how he came to be. I suggest this to people I introduce him to because it makes it easier to understand his music and his perspective. If you are interested it is 8 videos. I found your comments about a therapist can only go by what you tell them to be deeply accurate! I think the main reason that therapy doesn't work for some people is 1. they don't know themselves or 2. that particular therapist doesn't mesh well with them. Most people like to believe they are different than the way they actually are. You want to know who someone truly is? Talk to their parents/ siblings/ exes (only if on good terms) and close friends. People are what they do and not want they want to do or don't want to do. Anyway, I just wanted to say I appreciated that comment and warn you that the Ren fans will bombard you so be really haha you can't blame us... Ren is amazing! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💕

🔥🔥🔥 .Welcome to the Renaissance! Ren is my favourite artist of all time. I say artist because he is a multifaceted diamond! From singing (all styles) to rapping (bars/flows/schemes for days), Bardcore (story telling) beatbox, makes his own beats, scatting and a multi instrumentalist (guitars, bass, drums, melodica and more). On top of that he is the most beautiful human being inside and out who has been through and continues to go through absolute hell. Ren is 34 from Anglesey, Wales originally but spent most his adult life in Brighton, England. He has been very ill for years, at one point being completely bed ridden. He was misdiagnosed for years, being told he was bipolar, had M.E and more and was prescribed medications that made him worse and ended up in psychosis. It turns out Ren had Lyme disease which has caused havoc on his body. He’s been living in Calgary, Canada all year receiving intense medical treatment for his brain damage and mast cell activation disorder amongst other things that were caused by the Lyme disease. He started off making beats at 12 and selling CDs then moved on to busking. He was part of a band called Trick The Fox and was signed to Sony but they didn’t renew the contract after his health deteriorated. He then started The Big Push. They went on hiatus the end of last year after 5 years partly due to his move to Canada and also because the other members are also soloists and were moving around too. There's loads to learn about Ren who is an amazing artist from Wales in the UK. There's a deep catalog to dive deeper into the rabbit hole. I'd like to recommend "Money Game 1" and "Heretic". This is art of transcendent beauty and an *important* song. Artists often struggle with imposter syndrome. There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this and was a transformative experience for me-much the same as this song resonates. As a person who’s never been able to escape negative self-talk and imposter syndrome, *realizing* that I can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that already resides within me-was sooo important. It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it. *Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison. You are *stronger* than that voice. You are stronger than you can *possibly* know… until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.

I’m a few days late, but welcome to the multitalented genius Ren! ❤️ This masterpiece is just the tip of the iceberg. Ren is a relatable voice for everyone dancing in the darkness as he eloquently, with all the authenticity of someone who is painfully familiar with it, lets us know that we are not alone and inspires us to keep dancing. And in doing so, Ren has literally saved lives with his art. Other Renegades will probably recommend songs like Sick Boi and Troubles for insight into his story with illness and years of misdiagnosis. I will just add a suggestion to check out one of my personal favourites that doesn’t get nearly as much attention as it deserves: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before Ren was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and stunning. So right about having to be honest in therapy. I've seen a few therapists and could never fully open up about things and so made it pointless going.
