The Motoscan app can do pretty much what the GS911 does, except it's about $50 (!) for the professional version, no limit to the number of bikes. You'll also need a dongle ($70) and connect cable ($15) and you're in business. Nice video BTW. Oh, no need to remove the exhaust to take out the rear wheel on my 2013 GTL.

Do you happen to have a link to this tool and needed cable maybe?

Where can I download the BMW Motorrad bi-annual scheduled Maintenance for K 1600 GT? Thanks great video.

Hey Chris, What manual do you use? Also, hard difficult was it to set up the gs 911? Can use do ABS break service using the GS 911. Since this is recommended to be done at the dealership to sue the BMW "diagnostic tester". Thanks, I appreciate any advice. -Garth

great video... I am an old motorcyclist and thinking to buy a K1600GT, but watching this video my interest is going down the tubes. I do my own maintenance except the valves check, on bikes like Aprilia Caponord and Tuono, 2 Concours 14, Tenere, during the last 10 years. I am appalled how dirty and made difficult to change the oil on these K1600. It seems BMW made it uneasy for people to use and get overcharged at the dealerships!!!

Chris, Will you give the details of the oil filter and the speed bleeder - model, name etc. That would truly help me, a beginner with K1600GT. Thanks
@kiki2310008 жыл бұрын
The speed bleeder can be obtained through speedbleeder.com -- i would contact them directly for the exact model for your bike and year as there was a change recently for the front callipers. The oil and filter can be obtained directly from your dealer by giving them the model and year.

Jesus, typos. Anyway, how difficult is it to set up the Gs 911, and can you use the GS 911 to service the ABS brakes? _Garth
@Enonymouse_6 жыл бұрын
yes you can service the abs brakes if i recall. The 911 doesn't work with 5ghz wifi, it only works with 2.4ghz. It's not too difficult if you're used to setting up wireless routers and stuff. You can connect direct via usb as well.

I just purchased a 2017 K1600gt in July 2018 with 5.580 miles on it service was done at the dealership. This video this will help me save a lot of money on maintenance since i plan on doing whatever maintenance i can and stay out of the dealer it still a warranty on it. I also purchased a GS911 on Amazon for $399 I plan on using the oil the maintenance manual calls for i run Casto in my F6B. Once again thank you for this video! And what kind of tires do you recommend? I've ran Metzelers me888 on my F6b for four years.
@kiki2310006 жыл бұрын
I personally prefer michelin -- Pilot Road 3 . But there are many great tires out there. You may find that the 888 lacks the grip in hard cornering. However, if you are planning more long distance riding, its a good choice.

@@kiki231000 In this part of Texas i live in i do a lot of long highway riding about 85% highway riding every now and then I'll hit the back roads curvy roads. Just going to visit my mother is 350miles one way just did a ride last weekend from my home near Fort worth Tx to Elpaso Tx then back to Fort worth ended up being a total of 1580 miles all highway. This is a great machine!!😎😎 on the highway riding 70 to 85mph for hours...I made the right decision on this K1600GT i still have my f6b but this BMW is a entirely different machine.

Michelin Road 5 GT is supposed to be released later this year. I've worn out two sets of the standard Road 5 and they are brilliant.

I have owned 2 BMW K1600 GTLs and I will tell you from first hand experience, the bikes were both MUCH lively-er with Amsoil motorcycle oil. I have no idea why, but the difference is night and day. I will never go back to BMW motor oil.
@Enonymouse_6 жыл бұрын
Can't say one way or the other on the performance aspect but I'd still go Amsoil either way as a top tier brand for the given application along with their heavy gear oil for the rear. The Amsoil heavy gear oil is quite a bit less expensive and better. Durability-wise the Amsoil outscores the OEM brand a bit. The K16 community seems to favor it too.

Probably a matter of reduced friction. Did you notice if they ran cooler? Cylinder head temp, etc?

Sharkrescuedog I did not use a dust cover but in the past I always preferred the Geza covers

One question....Does BMW accept you doing your own service during the warranty period?
@kiki2310008 жыл бұрын
+Sam Rowland I would ask your dealer. In the USA there is legislation in place known as the Magnuson-Moss Warranty act which protects the home mechanic from warranty denials. I typically keep accurate records of my product purchases and mileages in case issues were to arise.
@samrowland58388 жыл бұрын
kiki231000 I will certainly ask, my RT is due for it's "run in" maintenance check up...I'll let the dealer take care of this one, but I like doing my own work. There's a guy on YT that berates the one of the local dealers and BMW in general because he says he had problems getting problems with his F650GS, even saying he had to use an attorney to get BMW to take care of some of the problems he had...My first thoughts were "did BMW refuse to honor the warranty because he had done his own work on the bike"
